  1. We have sailed with NCL a few times and have no real complaints.

We typically love Celebrity, but are going with NCL again for our Caribbean cruise next spring.   We looked at sailing on the Edge, but we like a real balcony...something the Edge has very few of. I am starting to feel like Celebrity is no longer a brand for me.  There are too many things that Celebrity has changed and added the last few years that have no interest to me.  We feel that the food and entertainment has gone downhill on our last few cruises on Celebrity...especially on our cruise this past March on the Equinox.   Service was the only thing that still exceled.    We have never been disappointed in food or entertainment on our NCL cruises.    Service on NCL is very good... however, I do think X is a little better.      NCL seems to have a lot more fun things happening on sea days.    Celebrity is very laid back on sea days, almost boring at times.

I am sure I will go on another cruise someday on Celebrity, but for now, NCL is just a better fit for us.

Another upside to your choice here is that unlike Norwegian's beverage package perk where gratuities are charged for each drink, the gratuities for each drink on X's Classic and Premium beverage packages are included, so no unexpected charges at the end of your cruise.

On NCL, the gratuity of 20% is paid on the package price itself, not each drink.      But they charge you that 20% on the package even if you get it as a perk, that is where it differs on Celebrity.  Also on NCL, when you are in certain ports, like Miami, you are charged tax on your drinks, even those included in the package...I haven't been charged tax on drinks in any port with Celebrity.

Even with all of that, I am still going back to NCL for my next cruise.  Our last trip this past March on the Equinox, it just didn't feel the same as what we have come to expect from Celebrity.

We just came back from a cruise on the Carnival Horizon with a stop in Cozumel.

We did the Trikes excursion last year, and enjoyed it so much we had to do it again this year!  We have been to Cozumel many times, and this is our favorite excursion!!  Armando and the team do a fantastic job with the tour and getting everyone set up and on the go!

You get to drive all around the island and see both sides, such a contrast, and beautiful all around!  There are many stops for sights, pictures, shopping and drinks!  Lunch is also included and is delicious!  The lunch is at a restaurant that also has a tequila tour and tasting, and I do not drink, but I had to try the tequila and it is fantastic!!!  Not the biting, think I’m having a heart attack stuff I had years ago, but very smooth and tasty!

The Trikes can hold up to 3 people, which we have, and are very smooth and comfortable.  You can really open them up at points and enjoy the fresh air!

I highly recommend this excursion!!!  We will definitely do it again next time we are in Cozumel!  They also have locations in St. Maarten and Aruba!

Thanks for the recommendation!   I looked into it after reading your review above and it looks awesome, so we booked it as well, we will be there next week.

  4. I really don't understand what makes these rooms a balcony/veranda.   Its literally a window that opens, what I am I missing that makes it a balcony?    Does my house have multiple "balconies" because I can open the windows?    I am just very confused on how these rooms can be considered anything more than an ocean view with an operable window.    Maybe I am missing something???

  5. I was on the Jade last month and had the UBP. We had a group of six each night at dinner. I along with my wife would usually order a mixed drink. The rest of our group would usually order sodas (although sometimes they would order mixed drinks as well). Each night, they would take my card and scan it for everyone's drinks . No one else had to show a card. We all DID have the UBP, but they didn't know that as they never asked for anyone else's card. I always had my card out and ready to hand over, so they just took mine.

  6. We did this tour the second week of March. The equipment is terrible, very run down and unsafe. Something in the steering broke on our guide's ATV which caused him and his ATV to flip down the road. Fortunately, the guide wasn't seriously injured...just some road rash and a limp afterwards. He called another guy, and we waited for him, and then continued the trip to the beach. It really isn't a tour, its just a way to get to the beach and back. There are no stops for photos or anything like that along the way. The beach is really nice though. We did see other ATV's (from other tours) at the beach, and they were in much better shape than the ones we were on. I would suggest finding a different ATV company that has safer and nicer equipment.

  7. We had a similar situation last year on the Summit where we requested early dining but we were placed in select dining. Turned out great, never had a problem making a reservation for the time we wanted. We also were able to request the same wait staff each night when we arrived. The service was probably the best we ever had on a cruise.

  8. What is the best way? I have some co-workers who know people who do it every year. I definetly want to at least attempt to sneak on our own booze instead of paying the outrageous prices at the bars.

Any tips and hunts are apprecaites! :)

We got plastic bottles of liquor (the cheap stuff), double bagged each bottle in 2 gallon size zip lock bags, and simply put them in our checked luggage. Made it on board, no problem.

We also carried on many bottles of liquor from the ports of call during the trip with no problem as well.

    :)

  9. OK i need help...i fully understnad the whole bit about buying it on board or buying it in port that RCCL holds it until the last day and then you pass thru customs with it...how about getting it home on the plane...with all of the new post 9-11 non sense about bringing liquids on the plane how do you get around this one...i have seen the way these airlines baggage handles toss bags from the plane to the luggage carrier and down to luggage claim...i think that every bottle would be broken and destroyed by the time it came around on the baggage carosel...CAN YOU BRING BOTTLEs OF BOOZE ON THE PLANE NOW...anyone out there recently just got off a cruise that has brought back bottles...how did you get them home... maybe i'm worring about nothing...reassure me...thanks

We put each bottle we bought in a 2 gallon size baggy, then wrapped each bottle individually in our dirty clothes, and packed it in the center of our luggage as best we could, with more dirty clothes "cushion" around it. Everything made it from back home no problem. We were relieved. :D
