When we went to costa maya we were in port from 1-9 and just wanted a laid back day . I emailed steve at the tropicante before the cruise and he reserved us chairs for free. The day of we took the open air taxi there , it was great. We relaxed, played in the water, ate nachos and had drinks for a few hours and just before the sun started going down we went back and shopped at the port and watch the sun set before getting back to the ship. I think we spent around 30 ish and whatever we spent shopping.

I take cbd oil every day but leave it at home when we travel by air or ship. Just dont want to take the chance.

We tipped at the end of the day. There was 6 of us all women on a girls trip before my nieces wedding. We tipped 40.

The first time we were there we went to the pineapple farm up in the mountains. It was fun but the trip there and back was not. The 2nd time we went we went to an all inclusive resort very close to the port. Sunscape and had a great time. It included round trip , drinks, food with a beach and a few pools, one with a lazy river. If we ever return thats where we will go again. Its not a port that i would feel comfortable doing on my own without some sort of excursion carnival or not.

Our first cruise we had a room with a window. Open the curtain the first morning room got extremely warm, never opened it again the rest of the cruise. Now we only do insides since we are only in the room to sleep, shower and change.

No we have not. Might have to in the future but it wouldnt be my first choice. We normally drive the day before, get a park and cruise hotel. Most of the time for what you will pay to park at port you can get a hotel with shuttle to and from. That way we can explore the area the day before or morning of the cruise, have a nice breakfast and then at leisure go to port. Mobile is out favorite for doing this

On 7 days cruise hubby and i each take one rolling suitcase, large one for me and med size for him. I also take one small carry on bag for 2 bottles of wine , any meds, makeup and electronics we have. I bring 2 swim suits, shorts and a t for each day , 3 nice outfits that i can mix match with each other for nights, 1 pair of flip flops, 1 pair of sandals and 1 pair of slip on like toms or bobs. Hubby takes just about the same, except for shorts. He wears his swim trunks most of the day so he doesnt take as many pairs of shorts as i do ,

We loved it there. We did the 39/pp online before we cruised and that included lunch , sea lion show , chair and bottled water. It also included snorkeling equipment but we always bring our own. The food was good, it was not over crowded, snorkeling was great. Well worth the money.

There was a few small huts there in jan 2017 when we were there last. We got some coffee and a wooden fish.

for 7 days for us 2 i take a thousand dollars. I prepay for our tips and any excursions we might be doing. I always set up a cash account and have extra for port days.

We were on the fantasy this last halloween. We loved it ! We dont mind and actually like the smaller ships, her crew was top notch. Best cd ever but i know he isnt on there now. The food was good in the dr, hit and miss on the lido but guys, deli and tacos were great. We stayed at the battle house on their park and cruise package. Great hotel with excellent service and private driver that took us to the port and was there waiting on us when we left the ship.
-
Try the battle house downtown mobile. We used them in Oct for a cruise. Very nice and friendly staff. I would call and explain your situation and see if they would let you stay longer than the 7 days.
-
On port days we do the lido for a quick breakfast. On sea days we order room service fruit, muffins, juice till seaday brunch opens
-
Yes there will be a door hanger in your room. Fill it out the night before and hang it out. We always get juice, coffee, fruit and muffins to enjoy while we are getting ready for our day or to tide us over till brunch. Its light stuff, not hot food.

We love the smaller ships. We sailed the fantasy from mobile last oct for 5 days, 2 ports and it was perfect. Got to sight see in mobile, had 2 great stops and back home in 7 days. Cant beat the price , not crowded, great service and not hard to navigate ship. Wish they would make more smaller ships.

We have been out of nola 4 times. 3 of the times they were checking and strickly enforcing boarding times. one time we showed up 30 minutes early because it was the last shuttle from hotel and told us to go on through. So it might just luck or how busy it is at that time

Yes we have done the dream and the triumph twice each. Would do them both again in a heartbeat . We love the dream .
-
We have done both of those cruises 2 times each. If you can spare more than 7 days i would pick the dream. Its a very nice ship with 3 ports that we enjoy and if you could stay 2 or 3 days in new orleans it would give you plenty of time to explore. We enjoyed the triumph also , its great for a cheap , short cruise when time is a factor.

We love the coffee shop sweets. Its normally our afternoon snack. Cheesecake , chocolate and carrot cake pieces big enough for 2 or 3 people are 2.50 plus tax and tip. Great milkshakes and coffees also. I believe we paid around 3 or 4 dollars for them.
-
Because for us its what works. Mostly price , having 4 ports that we can drive to , never have had a bad cruise. We like the smaller ships and have always gotten great deals to allow us to cruise more than once a year. Last halloween fantasy from mobile was a prime example , 5 days for 800 for both of us for everything and we had a blast.
-
We carry on 2 bottles of wine, cruise docs, medicine and any electronics which normally is only our phones and a underwater camera. We eat lunch, get a dink and sit in the sun to people watch till our room is ready.

We sailed from jacksonville early march back in 2012. Smooth seas until the last night going back in. Captain they had a storm and it was going to be rough waters. He was correct!
-
We recently had a 1-9 port time also and early seating. We ate on the lido that night and the next night our server said the mdr was empty the night before. We got back onboard around 7 so we had plenty of time to eat on the lido

I am sure it depends on what port and what person is on duty that day. My experience recently has been in new orleans and mobile. All 4 times in new orleans when they xrayed my carry on they have said go to next table for your wine. Hubby has never stopped with me there and they have never questioned me about the second bottle. In mobile recently they xrayed my bag and never said a word about stopping by the table . I could have had anything in those bottles.
