We loved the clam shells!!! I can't tolerate the sun, so it was a great compromise. It's much quieter and there was really no one else on that beach. We searched for the bathrooms though and never found them.

Anthem be on the pool deck to go under the Verrazano. It's pretty crazy as everyone yells "we're gonna hit". We had a blast!!
-
We cruised on anthem in December. My TA requested the cpap stuff for us. The water and cord were in the room. However, anthem does have an outlet on one side of the bed and the cord was not needed.

I was on the 12/12 and there were no real pineapple pina coladas or other cocktails made different from the other bars. Only a selection of juices that would be made for you.

I too absolutely despised WWRY. The story seemed to have been written by someone dropping acid while watching pink floyds the wall and said "let's make it a love story!!" I did not see the encore as I could not stand one more second in that theatre. I fled with the rest of the people who just stayed to be polite
Another issue was the British female lead was considerably better then the rest of the cast.

You cannot make the rooms on anthem colder then 68. We normally sleep at 60-65 so it was like a sauna at night. The public areas were quite comfortable and a good temperature. Never too hot or cold. You do not need to ever go outside on anthem. One night the outside deck was closed for winds and we didn't even know!!!

I was in the forward most balcony (6118) on anthem in December. Coming back into NY we hit weather and it was quite challenging to pack that night. Constantly rocking and being moved around the room. Also in the front you can hear the boat going up and down a lot more.

Well, I also had concerns for upcoming cruise on Anthem in April and I emailed Michael Bayley. I got a phone call back from one of his boys...
He was surprised to hear that there are negative reviews on CC ( I suggested for him to take look) and he said that majority of responses are VERY positive and every one like the ship. I tried to explain that it is not a ship is in question, but quality of food and luck of service. He "sounded" surprised. But I got a feeling that they are aware that there are issues, but since people still booking, there is nothing will be done. I did say to him that I have 3 Anthem cruises booked, but that will depends on how my April cruise will go....It was nice PR phone call.
They know there are issues on Anthem. I was on the 12/12 sailing and there were a bunch of RCI people that came on when we docked back in Bayonne (they had badges). We were asked our opinion on the food while having breakfast in the windjammer. I really hope they did improve the food. The ship has such potential, but the food was pretty bad. Leaving from NY, we can get amazing food almost anywhere here, why would I want less on vacation?

Thanks! Any idea what (if any) Gold discount there is for Voom internet on Oasis? Thanks!
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
There was a 10% voom discount on Anthem last month.

At Jamie's order the meat plank. You can order whatever you want, there is no limit!! We had the meat plank, app, I had pasta, then a dessert. Waiter said we could order more if we wanted but I was full. On anthem Jamie's has these "pretty" chairs which are extremely uncomfortable. The waiters saw us and asked to switch the chairs. Much more comfortable :)

Check out the fine print on both. On the PDF it reads (2nd sentence), Gratuity not included.
Online the fine print reads (2nd sentence), 18% gratuity included.
Premium price for online (pre-purchase) is $57/day and on the pdf (on board) is $55. So, if you bought tha package on board it would end up costing about $65/day which is substantially higher than pre-purchasing.

Your on board info may be old. I sailed 12/12 on Anthem and purchased on board. Gratuities were included. It was the same price in advance or on board.

I felt similar to your reviews on the food: main courses and apps were ok, desserts were crazy good. We had a horrible experience at Devinly decadence, but the desserts were amazing. I even put in my survey "whoever does the desserts should do the rest of the food for the ship"!

The movement in the front is substantial. We booked a d-6 guarantee and were in 6618 which was the front most passenger balcony cabin. We hit rough seas coming back into NY and it was very challenging to pack bags that night as we were getting tossed about the room. You could also hear a lot of noises associated with the movement in the front as well

I'm booked on next years Xmas/ New Years. I'm already paying 3x the amount I did for the 12/12 cruise, to expect me to pay $1500 more is just insane. I'll watch it on my iPad with voom!!

Devinly was excellent for dinner on the November 10th sailing, and we ate there twice and enjoyed the delicious surf and turf both times. It was not empty, and, in fact, once word quickly got out about how good it was it became difficult to get in for the rest of the cruise.
This news is very disappointing. I wonder if it will remain as an included venue for dinner...
The surf and turf was inedible by the 12/12 sailing. The "lobster tails" (I use quotes because they were more like prawns they were so tiny) were so over cooked they were like rubber. The beef was just gross and they covered it with brown gravy to hide the fact that it sucked

Anthem had is ups and downs, but we booked a holiday cruise for next year. A lot of serious cruisers simply hated the ship. I heard that from suite guests as well. One person told me he thought the service was disastrous since he only got 3 towel animals in a 7 day cruise. We had an inedible meal, but it didn't ruin our cruise. Be open minded and you'll have ablst

Puzzle Break was great. I signed up through the app. Outdoor movies in the hot tub was a great experience. We got to watch elf!!! When your docking in Nassau (it was 2pm for us) head to the solarium and watch the docking process. Order room service through the tv. There are free items, you need to look for them and they were pretty good!!!

Wow bands are well worth the $10. No fumbling for a stupid card ever!! Punching a hole can cause the card not to work (it's an rfid card). Then you can't get in your room or off the ship. I wish the bands worked to get back into the port. I hate carrying the stupid card. I've heard the wow bands are reprogrammable. So you can use it on your next cruise. I put ours by the passports for our next trip!

I was able to book puzzle break through the Royal IQ app on board and you can also schedule it at the seaplex. It was a great experience for my inner nerd!!!

I was on the 12/12 sailing and went there one night for dinner. It was by far the worst meal we had. My boyfriends food was inedible and I had asked for a medium rare filet. First time it was blue, second time well done. I ate the well done and gave up. We let the manager know that the food was really bad (politely). Apparently many other tables had the same experience that night. He sent a bottle of champagne to make up for it. The desserts were the best part of the menu.
We ate their for lunch a couple times due to its proximity to the solarium. Lunch menu was always the same. The so called speciality salads were barely anything to write home about and the food was so/so (edible though!!)
With all the issues they have with service on the ship I'm not surprised to see this to be the first to go.

I was on the 12/12 as well. Good thing you didn't waste time with We Will Rock You. It's the worst piece of rubbish I've ever seen!! Shrek the musical would of been a better choice (I saw it on Broadway so I've seen my share of bad shows).
Our meal at Silk was ok. All the food was OK except for Devinly Decadence. The dinner was inedible. It was so bad the manager sent us a bottle of champagne to make up for the food. The lobster tails were over steamed and so tough you couldn't eat them. The filet came to me blue first time then well done second time (I requested medium rare).
My other complaint is lack of entertainment for the younger crowd. I'm in my mid 30's and I get like most of the programming was for the older generation. If I heard one more song from the 70's and nothing from the past 20 years I was ready to scream. Thank god the glow party jumped the ship out of the 70's. That was by far the most fun and packed event I saw.

Take it from an IT guy - the best printers in the industry are the ones located at the public library:
- A few cents per page
- No ink refills to worry about
- No printers to own
This would apply to those of us who rarely have the need for a printer.
I'm in IT too. I bought a stupid brother printer and couldn't get the black ink anywhere. It shipped from Canada. I would of used air print at a local electronics store (which you can actually get to work most of the time), but it never stated printed within 3 days. The check In is fully complete too. The reps were nice and did state that printing is available until 24 hrs prior to cruise once completed, this one they closed early.
-
The RCI rep may have told you that but this reminder is right on their page:
You must complete and print your SetSail Pass 3 days prior to your sail date.
Actually I re-read the entire page over and over no where it states printed. Everything was complete I just couldn't print it. It's a stupid policy, how would printing effect anything?
-
I think it's standard that you can't do it once within 3 days of sailing.
Per RCI it's 24 hours for printing. They had no idea why they closed it early. Mine was 100% complete, I just needed to print it and the silly ink was out on my printer!!!

I was on in December and the food as a whole was barely edible. Jamie's was definitely the best of the worst. I've heard things have gotten better recently though.
