  1. We carried all of our luggage on the last three cruises. When we boarded in Honolulu the security person questioned me in why I did not check my luggage. The only issue I have is carrying the luggage up the stairs although you can use the elevator. Also if you board early you may need to carry your luggage around until the rooms open. Our last cruises were destination cruises, so we had tours in embarking cities and arrived late at the port.

  2. Thanks for the review. We were on the Fantasy a few years ago and am going in September to Panama Canal. We like the smaller older ships, but will miss some of the newer attraction as you listed. Great to know getting on and off the ship was not so bad. We have a 12:30 check in also. Thanks again.

  3. We took the Alaskan cruise with Carnival two years ago. We went in May. It was the first cruise of the year in Alaska and the last one before the Legend was refurbished. The cruise was middle aged to older being it was the first week of May. We took the glacier excursion in Juneau, the train, Red Onion Salon and Salmon bake in Skagway, and totem tour and Lumberjack show in Ketchican. We had time after each to walk around the port. We enjoyed all of them.

Ha! I just booked a cruise for Cuba next March the day before the ban. OMG lololol I want to cry and laugh at the same time.

Me too except I was not going until next September. Maybe in 2 or 6 years we will be able to return to Cuba.

Thank you.  I am booked under a casino rate with a non-refundable deposit, hoping I will be able to transfer that deposit to another cruise.  I booked this back in January, wonder why I did not receive an email when you did?

This was last year when the policy change with Cuba was announced, but not implemented. I believe they will have a similar response this time, but just an opinion.

Royal Caribbean cancelled Cuban port stop starting tomorrow’s cruise.

i don’t think they would do this if they could wait

Sad for those who are having the port changed because I believe in most cases people booked it for the Cuba stop.

What rate were you booked under, was the deposit refundable or not refundable?

I was booked Early Saver. I received an email saying the due to the concerns of the policy that you may cancel with a full refund. I believe the letter gave a certain time to cancel. I called and it was refunded. I did not book early saver for this cruise.

  8. I booked a Cuba cruise early last year and was offered a full refund when there was concern about the policy changing. I just booked again to go to Cuba. I believe they will offer refunds for cruises months out and will travel to Cuba the next few weeks. My reading of the article is going to give the cruise companies some wiggle room. This is an opinion. We will receive emails soon.

  9. I have never purchased the package before, but I purchased it for our next cruise because you will be able to receive your pictures digital, but for social media only, not to reproduce. This is what it says in the package:

    • Photos should be collected daily and given to photo staff to place in your dedicated folder.
    • All photos collected throughout the cruise must be picked up on the last sea day before 1pm to allow time for digital images to be burned.
    • Any images taken on the last evening of the cruise will be available in print format only and will not include the digital image
  10. When I read the instructions it says you collect all of your pictures and take them to the checkout and they place them in a folder and put them on a thumb drive for you at the end of the cruise. Did any of you collect your pictures and have them placed in a folder?

  11. Both have things you can do within walking distance. Halifax has a boardwalk that has places to eat along the water, a marketplace and a museum that has a section about the titanic to visit. We walked along the boardwalk, but also took at tour to Peggy' Cove which is beautiful. St. John's you can walk into downtown and tour some sights and shopping. It has a marketplace and a general store to visit. We visited the reversing rapids and hop on hop off tour. We did not cruise CCL, but RC. I hope this helps.

  12. Fathom has been closed. Carnival has cruises to Cuba and added more for 2018. I got this information from my PVP. I was told to get off the ship you have to meet requirements, but the best and easiest way to meet the requirements is book an excursion.
