We just got off Explorer in an F2-809- never felt or heard a thing in 14 days- Never knew we docked until room service delivered breakfast. No thruster, anchor etc noise. I.m a very light sleeper. Best cabin not a suite we've ever been in

By the way, the mirror Regent provides is illuminated. No need to bring your own.

We were on the same cruise with you. I believe not only were many crew new, but they were understaffed for the full passenger load. Waiting for almost a half hour for a cheeseburger at the pool grill, if you could find a table, was not good.

Has terminal J at the port of Miami reopened for Regent and others? And are reservations needed to park a vehicle at the adjacent parking facility? Thank you for your input.

We also are on the 28 Jan Explorer- have registered for the meet and mingle

thank you all

Another query. I'm in an F2 (809) on Explorer. Regent says they will provide distilled water. Is there a US outlet bedside, or must I bring an extension cord or an adapter for the wall plug? If so, what kind? Thanks again.

Other than a larger suite/balcony, what are the concierge amenities?

Bill,
BZ or thanks for being a guru. Another query, we have option to move to F2 906 port side from F2 809. Deck plan shows a void above it.Concerned about possible overhead noise. TA doesn't know. Got an inkling?

Gimme an "F"! Gimme a "2"! What's that spell?
The best bang-for-the-buck suite on any Regent ship, IMO.

Interesting. Thanks for the heads up. Hope it's been rectified. Wife may consider that type of noise a better alternative than my snoring if my CPAP machine can't be set up.

Thank you for the confirmation. Will do.

roger that. thank you.

War department and I are booked on Explorer 28 Jan 14 day Miami-Miami. We are gold Seven Seas types but have not cruised for over 5 years. Plus I've been accused of losing brain cells to bourbon. Ergo, need an update. I understand Miami port terminal J is under renovation. Will this be done by next Jan? No info on port website. If not at J, where? Parking? Is there still a block party? We are in F2-809 and even UN Bills excellent reviews have no mention of this cabin. Anyone been in it? Last experience was 5 years ago on Navigator-my favorite ship until they eliminated the cigar lounge. Had a problem with room set-up. After 2d day of cruise leaving Quebec City I released my strangle hold on the asst HotelMgr and set up was made. He/she said I should always have my TA call in room preferences as it has more authority than waiting until aboard. Still true? 2 days without Wild Turkey is 2 days too long. Walking down hallways with a drink in my hand is probably why I never made general. That episode I can laugh about now, but it wasn't funny then. Any help/insight will be appreciated. There is no roll call and it appears , although early, this cruise may not be fully booked. Any thoughts on an upgrade? I appreciate the collective wisdom you folks have.

I agree with all except travel cat. Without a "CC" I may reconsider future ventures on my favorite ship

In the fall of 2014 we sailed Navigator to Miami from Montreal. When we departed Norfolk underway to Charleston, the Capt. announced there will be heavy seas that night with an extreme roll at 0200 when they change course.. They shut down all weather decks, moved furniture off balconies, plastic wrapped bars to seal them, shut down elevators, tied down plants, etc. The next morning the Capt announced we went through 60 knots wind and 30 foot sea. It was a cake walk with cradle like rocking on the 5th deck where we were. Compare that to what recently happened to that Royal Caribbean ship in similar circumstances. Those big ships are wind sails and are inherently worse in bad seas. The vibration problem is caused by cavitation and it will always be there. Who built it is not important. What is, is its a much better handling ship in bad seas then any floating hotel. :o

Keltic,
Thanks for the memories. An excellent presentation.:)

Fizzy,
you answered your own question. Enjoy NCL.

We are also "loners" and on a Mariner cruise, there were a few special groups. On one occasion all the lounges were closed for these folks so we had pre dinner cocktails in our suite. I still resent that. However, Regent is still our go to cruise line.

In the USMC, you only wear a cover (hat) when under arms (carrying a weapon) and on duty. In fact every Officer's Club has a sign stating "He who enters covered here buys the bar a round of cheer". Many young Lieutenants learned an expensive lesson.

I agree wholeheartedly with spending more time pre-cruise in RSA. We spent 3 weeks there first in "J-burg", then a balloon ride safari, Sabi Sabi game park, Durban, the garden route to Capetown and the Blue Train to Pretoria. A wonderful experience that made us want to go back. A diverse environment with fine foods and good wines, with very modest costs.

Ms Wulf was the lecturer on our recent Navigator cruise (22Oct-6Nov). I thought she was knowledgeable and interesting. I really enjoyed her segment on the evolution of "viking" names.
Where are the ships going now?
