  1. to make it short, book through HAL. Twice the airline canceled fights, we were going the day before boarding. We got to port in time (barely). We were reimbursed for our hotel stay that we missed by HAL . They must have pulled all kind of strings to get us on the first flight in the morning. The airline paid for the hotel stay. TWICE.

I would be too uncomfortable if I did not book air and hotel through HAL

  2. Hi Guys, Sorry it took so long for me to post.

We did not want to wait any longer for the cruise we really wanted . It seemed to never come available.

We booked The March 12,2018 - 28 days World Cruise from Fort Lauderdale to Barcelona. It is also sold out. now.

We booked an inside. Did get a upsell but it was too expensive for us.

    Thanks for your concern.

We have booked 3 previous trips to Africa and all got cancelled. Two land and one HAL. The HAL port in Egypt was cancelled because of conflict , another port in Turkey was added. We did dock in Israel. It was a Holy Land Cruise, I forgot the year

I am on pin and needles, and extremely excited. I so want this cruise.

    Cely

  3. I also miss the log. I keep each one in my picture album. You can't imagine how many times it ended an argument. It is " I told you it was not that far!"

As far as the medals. I believe I earned mine. It is fun, like wearing Mickey ears at Disneyland , fun, fun, fun.

  4. If you booked through HAL with insurance they will get you to where you need to go. Maybe another flight or port.. Happened to me with a flight being cancelled. Airline paid for hotel HAL got me on an early morning flight and I did not miss the sailing. I did fly a day before the sailing, that gave me some wiggle space.

  5. We were on the Eurodam in Oct. 2017 Venice to Barcelona . The food was absolutely terrific. This was not my first rodeo . The food keeps getting better, and the drinks. I don't know if it was the drinks are the people, but I had the most fun at all of the happy hours. Friendly staff while I was making my depositing at the casino. I may be naïve but I can't tell you anything about the décor, it was comfortable and clean.

We did a girls night out cruise in Sept 2017 on another cruise line, really enjoyed it . We agreed 100% that we should have cruised HAL. There was a difference.

  6. I may spell it wrong, baklava in Athens. Everything was sticky, my hands, purse and card. They just passed me through. They did not want that sticky mess on the belt. Some nice person pressed the elevator button for me. The cabin person opened the door with his card.

  7. I had the privilege of meeting her. She was coming out of one of the shops. She told me all about the different uniforms the staff on the ship wears. She said that she would have a different one on tomorrow. She had one

of all of them. I don't remember what ship nor year. he was in a wheelchair

    at the time.

    She will differently be missed.

I wonder if she will be buried at sea.

  8. Thank you so much. Our flight arrives in Venice about 2:10 something like that. I figured by the time we get to the hotel and settled we would be able to

do St Marco . Now that I know about the Val... we can do that instead of a gondola. Once we embark the next day , when we get off the ship we can do the same thing. You have made my day. Now my DH will think that I am so smart. I read CC, he doesn't. Ha! Ha!

  9. Our first few cruises were with groups. We decided to do a cruise without a group, just us. I saw HAL in a magazine, it was sailing to places we would like to visit. I felt like I was living in an Agathe Christie novel. We have met people on HAL that we remain friends with.

In Sept 2015 Ladies Birthday Cruise (5 B/D +9 friends) was a Carnival Cruise.

We had a great time but everyone that has sailed HAL said why didn.t we book HAL. We had to explain to the others Why. Too long to go through on this thread. I believe that you all understand.

  10. Thanks everyone. I was piggy backing on this post, as I also want to know what to do in Monte Carlo. I don't want to rent a car, or bus or train to anywhere else. This has been a help in planning since I did have a few things in mine. YES I will go to the casino. Can't have my first trip to Monte Carlo and not see the casino. I think I will take a cab (age 70's and 80's).
