  1. Can anyone advise exactly where we will dock in Sete, France?  There are 3 possible docks, but the only one suitable for our ship (Dolphin berth “Epi Dellon”) looks like the furthest away.  We will be arriving on Celebrity Infinity on 11th June.  Is this far to the railway station?

I understand that there is a bus provided by the port.  Is this free, and where does it go?

    Thank you

  2. We booked such a room on Celebrity Constellation for a sailing next May. Reserved an A8 Ocean View room. We were surprised to be allocated a more expensive A6 room the very next day. Not a large upgrade, but an upgrade nevertheless, with a large saving of around £700. And a drinks package thrown in as well. We were very happy with that.

  3. I upgraded a little while ago from the D7000 to the D7200. A fantastic camera. The main improvement, for me, is the vastly improved low light capability.

Only 2 lenses, both Nikkor, 10-24mm and 18-300mm, and both excellent, particularly the 10-24.

    I would recommend this upgrade.

Whilst the newer D500 and D7500 are probably an even greater improvement, they are a lot more expensive.

  4. Lots of interesting replies. But the bottom line is that the cruise lines are the employers, and not the passengers. It is their responsibility to pay their staff, not ours. At a proper rate. We do that by paying our fares.

And if, as someone said earlier, staff who receive tips (a word which, by the way was invented by Twinings Tea in London) tax-free and furthermore the do not necessarily go to the people you want the money to go to, isn't that even more of a disincentive to pay them?

  5. Thanks. Just what I've tried to do. I've now spoken to celebrity, and was told that you can only print out the pass 30 days before you leave. They should tell you that, not display different, misleading message.

    Your advice was appreciated.

  6. I have to correct wmjivey. The Sony A6x00 has an APS-C sensor. It is a fantastic camera, with some excellent lenses. Much smaller than full frame, but nevertheless high quality. I'd be concerned about using older lenses, or those from a different manufacturer. They will work, but you are likely to lose some functionality, e.g. Autofocus or metering.

    I'm a Nikon fan.

For a smaller camera, how about a used LUMIX G series? Or used anything? My second, evening, camera is a LUMIX LX100. That has a fixed lens, with just 3.8x zoom, but has a 2/3 sensor, and very high quality.

  7. I've tried that several times, over several days, on several devices. The link is there, but just comes up with an error. My TA says that he was told by Celebrity that it's only available from 30 days before, but if that is true, surely there wouldn't be a link to it?

  8. The D70 is a 20 year old model.

    • To clarify.... what lenses do you have? The newer Nikon DSLR's may be able to support it.

    • The D7%00 series may be closest to a D70 replacement... especially if you have a lot of D-series lenses.

    • for something smaller.... check out the mirrorless cameras and lenses. If you plan to keep a mirrorless camera powered on for a long time. Battery life to run the screens is a big difference compared to DSLR.

Not quite 20 years. It came out in January 2004. I had one as my first DSLR.

  9. This is a very interesting thread. Lots of useful information. Thanks, all, for the contributions.

For me, it's a good thing. We have a Classic Package, but never intended to upgrade. We rarely, if ever, drink canned soda, so that change isn't an issue for us.

For me, I like a malt whisky. These were never on the Classic package, only basic blended whiskies. So now, for just a little extra each day, I can have a lovely Laphroaig or Lagavulin, which I wouldn't have had before. Excellent news.
