  1. Your booking will include drink cards for the casino, which are good for well-brand cocktails, but also for bottled water and energy drinks, so that's a nice perk.

Your Player's Club and drink cards will be in your cabin when you arrive. There will be an envelope with a welcome letter that may or may not include an invite to a welcome party around the time of sailaway.

To book your cruise you need to call the number on your certificate, which should also indicate what type of cabin you have been comped. A bit of advice... check out the availability of that category online, and either do a courtesy hold online, or make a note of the cabin number you desire before calling. That helps put you in a location you want without a lot of back-and-forth while you're on the phone. If you do the courtesy hold, call and have them take over that booking. So easy.

  2. Had received an OV for upcoming cruise. Saw that balcony was only$20 total more than my OV Called and was told $100pp extra. I questioned this and was told they do not use current published prices for CAS upgrades. Stayed with OV s port intensive cruise will limit how much I use the balcony[/quote

Called back today to change cabins and the spa suite which I was told yesterday it would cost 1000 more was only 400. I took the spa minisuite

Fantastic! Very glad to hear you've received a nice comp, plus a fair upgrade with that fabulous Thermal Suite access.

    Enjoy!

  3. No, my original booking was on the NCL's website on Saturday. When I called today, NCL said I would have to cancel with them to rebook with this other agency, even though I can go on NCL's website and book it directly with the onboard credit. I'm afraid if I book it NCL will no longer be able to deal with me. That is why I am confused since it is directly on NCL's website.

Whomever you spoke to was extremely confused then. Call back, and speak to someone different. There is absolutely no reason why you cannot book this offer directly with Norwegian.

  4. I booked a NYE cruise on Saturday for the Getaway. I noticed today on NCL site that they are now offering a $100 on-board credit for Holiday sailings. I call and the rep. that I spoke with said that I would have to cancel and book with their travel partner cruisedeals.com. I said that I did a mock booking on NCL's website and she said the booking is not with NCL but with their travel partner. I am so confused. If I rebook with this travel partners website than what happens if I want to deal with NCL in the future? I also do not see anywhere on NCL's website where they mention the booking would be with them. Has anyone been in a similar situation?

You haven't specifically stated, but I'm guessing your original booking is with the online travel agency you mention in the post. If this is the case, then nobody at Norwegian can discuss your booking with you, because the agency you booked with owns the booking. It is this way with any cruise booked with a travel agent - they are the only ones who can discuss your booking.

If that's the case, then contact the agency, have them do the cancel and rebook... OR... if you do prefer to deal exclusively with Norwegian then have the agency cancel the booking entirely (just make sure you don't have a cancellation or change fee) and then book it yourself either on Norwegian's website, or via phone with one of their call center agents.

    Easy, peasy. :D

  5. I just returned from the Breakaway July 24th cruise. My daughter and I had to fly home yesterday July 29th due to a family issue. This was my first time on NCL and even though our cruise was cut short and the casino was closed during our first day in Bermuda I accumulated over 14K points alone. The casino host took $350 off my final bill and yes it would have been nice if the service fees had been included but with trying to settle cancelling spa reservations and so on I just let it be.

Being that this cruise was cut short, do you think I will be eligible for a free cruise through their CAS program. I would love to see if I can arrange a late august Bermuda cruise (of course if there is availability) but due to flying home at our expense and really only having half a cruise, I do not want to pay a lot for another cruise. I did have trip insurance, but the issue was a family issue that affected my daughter and could not let her go home by herself.

I just want to say that I'm sorry that your cruise was cut short, and hope that all is well for your daughter. Things like that are never easy. I am, however, thrilled that you apparently enjoyed your first Norwegian cruise and that you're thinking about another! I've been waiting for your return & report, and hoping you had an enjoyable time onboard.

Based on the points you earned in that short a time, I am definitely confident that you will qualify for something. I also agree that waiting until Wednesday is best, so that there is time for the ship records to be transmitted and your history to be visible to the CAS dept. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!

It is going to depend on how you earned those points. On slots or VP you will have no problem getting a comp. Probably a mini suite or better. If you earned the points at Pai Gow, BJ, or the craps pass line and odds, good luck, maybe an outside. CAS has smartened up and only seem to offering the better comps with the bad odds players games.

Let us know what they offer you, good luck.

CAS Comps and/or discounts are based on a number of factors including, but not limited to: Actual loss, theoretical loss, time spent playing per day, and average bet. Points earned toward tiers tell only a part of the tale, and really can't be used as a basis for what type of comp a person will receive, because that doesn't take into account the number of hours, the amount of loss, etc. Even for a slot player on high limit machines playing numerous hours per day, if they've enjoyed a fair amount of winning, their comp will be lower than a player on average machines at max bet with the same number of hours, but fewer or no jackpot type wins.

  6. Thinking of canceling and taking the hit with cruise line and with TA.. I am so worried about the level of entertainment, room, (even in a Haven room).. I am this worried I am sad to lose money but will , and go back to RCI..I just saw this thread where a guy gets punched?? This would ruin my trip .. if I saw something like this ..

Seems like we go through this with you here every couple of years. Last time that I recall, was when you decided before even stepping on the ship (Norwegian Jewel, Deck 10 Starboard Side Owner's Suite) that your Butler was going to be horrible. You spent the better part of two weeks raising cane about it here. I followed you in the same suite the following week, with the same Butler you had - he was wonderful - but you did everything you could while you were onboard to either get him fired, or get a refund. I returned home to find the most awful and scathing thread imaginable, wherein you continued your agenda against a perfectly wonderful, decent and hardworking human being. The entire situation was atrocious. I could say much more, but for your sake I'll keep the rest of what I know to myself.

Please, for the sake of everyone on every Norwegian ship in the fleet, follow up on your own suggestion, and go back to RCI... forever.

  7. I can't imagine what sort of trend you think you're going to see. Emails are generated based on the preferences you have set in your MyNCL account, so those who receive them will be those who have their accounts set to receive such emails.

Personally, I received the email twice. Once for my Dawn cruise which was well past final payment, and once for my Gem cruise which is still nowhere near final payment.

Why are people always looking for some ridiculous conspiracy, is just beyond me. SMH

  8. I got a $250 gift card for X-mas from a family member and if you don't use the total within 12 months of issue they start charging you a monthly dollar amount to keep it active, So I used it for shore excursions since I had already booked and paid for my cruise and had like 3 cruise next waiting to be used lol.

I'm sorry you received misinformation somewhere about this, but just to help for the future, and for other Gift Card holders, here are the full Terms and Conditions for Norwegian Cruise Line Gift Cards: https://www.ncl.com/giftcard/terms

For quick reference specifically regarding the fees, here's the exact text copied from that link...

    2. FEES

Fees Associated with your Gift Card

Subject to applicable law, beginning the 13th consecutive month after there has been no activity on your Card, a fee of $3.00 per month will be assessed to your Card. In addition, you have all the Specialty venues.

Plenty of great food to be had all around this ship.

Did I mention that Epic is one of my favorites in the fleet? :D

    Howl at the Moon

    The Cavern Club

Only onboard Norwegian Epic, step into the legendary Liverpool club where the Beatles performed. Experience a vibrant rock-and-roll scene, featuring live music and even a Beatles cover band.

All this, plus live music around the ship night and day, poolside events, the shows in the Epic Theater, O'Sheehans Sports Bar and Grille open 24/7, movies at night in the atrium on the big screen, and so much more. Plenty of dining options, and always something going on somewhere on the ship.

You can find even more details here: https://www.ncl.com/cruise-ship/epic/whats-on-board/activities using the tabs on the left of the screen to explore even more of what Epic has to offer.

With all these options, plus the time you'll be spending in all the ports, I'd wager a good bet all four of you would have a fabulous time. ;)

  11. My question exactly. We cruise in December and really want to go there. If the past is any indication, I could see it being ready way past October.

As mentioned earlier in the thread, construction and upgrading will be continuing well into 2017. That does not mean the island will be closed. Construction and upgrading have been ongoing for the past 4 years at least, and the island has been open and functioning. Currently there may be areas which are closed or inaccessible (recently the lagoon area has been reported to be off limits) in order to facilitate the heavy construction phases. Other areas will remain open outside of the "full closure" dates.

    Relax, go, enjoy!

  12. Thanks. I guess I was thrown off by "Entertainment 0" on the "My Vacation" page. But I now understand that mean pre-reserved/paid entertainment.

Unfortunately, the entertainment website for NCL only show Second City comedy as the only entertainment available on the ship, so it's hard to see that there are any kind of major shows:

    https://www.ncl.com/why-cruise-norwegian/cruise-entertainment

Good news about the Wine Bar...where did you read that?

I suspect we'll see the information for Dawn slowly getting updated over the next week or so, and hopefully that will include some much better details regarding current entertainment.

Regarding the wine bar, and much more... behold: https://www.ncl.com/press-releases/norwegian-dawn-sets-sail-bermuda-new-ship

    :D

    .

  13. Is it true that there are NO shows or formal professional entertainment on the Dawn? I don't think I've heard of a ship with no entertainment (I'm not talking abt a piano player).

Separately, is there organized high end wine tasting, like on Celebrity?

There is most definitely professional entertainment nightly in the theater, and live music in various locations around the ship as well. Your confusion may come from not needing to reserve these shows on the Dawn - that is only required on the megaships which have much smaller theaters, and shows that repeat throughout the sailing.

There will be various "tasting" events at different bars on the ship, and considering that during the dry dock a wine bar has been added, I would guess you can expect a wine tasting, but I wouldn't expect it to be "high end" necessarily.

I'm sure folks returning from Dawn sailings will post copies of the Freestyle Dailies over the next few weeks, so that will give you a much better idea of what to expect in regards to both entertainment and tasting events.

  14. Thanks WaldosPepper for the additional information, it was helpful to me. I do have a follow up question regarding the points and subsequent comps.

On my last cruise in April, I reached Hot Status in just 2 days. I managed to have "on board credit of $150" which I did not cash in, knowing I would be cruising in the next 6 months. I was also told I had an additional $70 onboard credit for my next cruise. Can this information be confirmed with CAS?

I was comp'd an aft balcony on the Getaway for December.

    Thanks

    Sharon :)

You might be able to confirm those details with a call to CAS. It's hard for me to say what the figures are that you refer to, but it's possible that they were the dollar value of the points you did not yet cash in toward a final bill, plus perhaps the value of your "tier up" points, which it seems you also did not cash in. Give CAS a call and see if they can clarify. ;)

Thank you so so much for that detail clarification. I really appreciate it. Very very helpful reply.

  15. I have an inside stateoom which is still pretty much the same as when I booked 1209 yet the balcony guaranty price last friday was $1299. A difference of $90, I called CAS and ask for a paid upgrade. I was informed my upgrade would be $320 per person. Of course I did not take it. I frequently cruise other casino programs from land based casino and my membership as blue chip and casino royale and know from experience that the 3rd person was never charged $899 plus port and taxes. In fact I have a cruise booked on the Anthem in October and the 3rd person cost $289 plus port charges, taxes and gratuities.

I'm sorry if this offends you but my experience has not been a positive one.

It does not offend me in the slightest. I'm merely trying to make sense of the numbers you've given in your previous posts. I must say I'm still curious as to whether you received a "comp" or just a discount, and whether you booked this based on previous play on Norwegian, or via a certificate from a land-based casino, etc.

I'm happy for you that you receive excellent comps elsewhere, similar to the excellent comps I receive from CAS.

If you go into this with a sour taste, you'll have a rotten time. However, I suspect if you are the kind of player who receives great comps elsewhere, and you play the same on Norwegian, you'll discover you'll find all that and more with CAS.

  16. I'm going to Alaska in September and Caribbean in December with NCL. Will my tier points transfer from Pearl to Epic automatically or do I need to contact CAS prior of sailing Epic?

Thanks in advance for your advise.

Just want to offer some clarification here. Points that you accumulate during the first cruise are what is used to begin establishing a Tier level. Toward the end of that first cruise, if you have earned enough points (minimum of 2500 points) those points will be redeemed toward your onboard bill (unless you specifically request otherwise).

Redemption of those points onboard the first cruise do not effect the Tier level that you have attained. Your CAS Their Level is tied to Latitudes Account number, and that tier will follow you automatically to the second cruise (unless for some reason there is a glitch, or your latitude number changes which can happen for a number of bizarre reasons).

Any points that are not redeemed on the first cruise do not automatically follow you to the second cruise. On the first night, a quick trip to the Host Desk will begin the process of getting those points moved over (generally it takes about 24 hours). Those transferred points will count toward any reduction in your onboard bill at the end of the second cruise, providing you have attained enough new points to equal a total of at least 2500 unredeemed points.

If you have booked these sailings through CAS, then you will have the correct Tier Level CAS Cards in your cabin upon arrival. If you have not booked these through CAS you will need to visit the Host Desk to have card(s) issued to you. If you book through CAS you will have Casino Free Drinks cards regardless of your Tier Level. If you did not book through CAS you will only receive drink cards if you have either already achieved at least HOT status, OR once you earn a minimum of 1,500 points on the current sailing (transferred points do not count toward drink card qualification).

One recommendation I would make, is at some point during the last day (but before evening when points redemption automatically takes place) is to place your card(s) in a slot machine, and take a photo of the total points showing, and with the back of the drink card showing your sailing date, and the front of your CAS card showing your name & current Tier. Glitches happen, and it's always a good idea to have proof of the number of points you currently have as a means of proving your Tier Level in the event of such a glitch. ;)

Posting this not just for you, but for the benefit of others who may have questions about how this whole program works, etc.

    :)

  17. Wow was getting nervous. We have a 2 BR on the Dawn this Oct. We have the master, our oldest & wife have the second and our youngest (24) will have the sofa. We did get our 95 year old aunt a cabin of her own across from us because she likes her privacy.

We have been in this suite before with her in the second BR and out grandson on the sofa and it worked great. Now with 5 adults in this cabin was rethinking a little. Feel better can't wait just the bathrooms will be hectic before diner time.

We've done pretty much this exact thing three times, on three different ships, and never had a problem. DH and I in the master, our oldest son and his wife in the second bedroom, and our youngest son on the sofa in the living room (he just turned 26). Twice we had family with a similar setup of people booked into the suite next-door. None of us ever thought we were overcrowded or uncomfortable in any way. ;)

  18. I did just book a B2B to Canada for 2017 with CAS and they did it as 2 separate cruises - but then again, I don't see it offered as a single cruise on NCL.com. I'm still not sure exactly how CAS arrives at their comps, but in my experience I have not had them expressly say to me "you are entitled to one comp (or two, etc.)" so I don't know how many comps I had available or used up for my Canada booking - but it will be nice if I do get tier perks x2!

Since it is booked as two separate cruises, you definitely had two comps available to you (most likely each one is based on your prior play on two different cruises - OR - one comp is yours and the other is your spouse/significant other's if that applies - OR - you earned a certificate for an additional comp). Since you've got two separate bookings, you'll receive the benefits for each booking individually.

    Enjoy! :D

    .

  19. I was also disappointed to see that they were no longer doing the Chef's table as it was the first thing I absolutely knew I needed to do when we decided to cruise with Norwegian. I'm mostly responding because I'm interested in finding out for sure that it's not an option for our trip next month.

For sure, absolutely, positively it is not an option on any Norwegian vessel any longer.

  20. Good point about double perks - would that apply to CAS tier perks also?

In order to do this as two bookings through CAS, you'd have to have two comps available to you. If you did book it as two separate comps you would have two separate bookings, and receive the tier perks for each individually.

Not sure I'd want to use up two comps for what is essentially one sailing, just to get double tier perks, though. I'd much rather save the second comp and use it for another cruise. :D

  21. Very likely to be Galley area for the Garden Cafe, and Butler's Pantry area for service to all the Aft Penthouses.

If you have youngsters, this may not be the best space for you. Any chance you can move to some of the connecting Inside cabins that are just slightly forward of those on the same deck? Those have cabins above them. ;)
