Specially and probably worse if the ship is not underway.

My wife is a timid, surface only snorkeller who absolutely wants to wear a vest. Thanks in advance...
All snorkeling tours I have done make everyone wear a bright vest not to stay afloat but to be visible to the boat excursion operator while you are in the water, some people choose to inflate the vest others don't.

Looking at all the sediment that gets disturbed I wonder what does the bigger damage to the sea floor an anchor or the thrusters? we already know what is more detrimental to the air we breathe.

I thought that is what I was doing at the pool when I was on the Scape last year...

I was on the Scape in 2017 and we waited more than 1 hour for an overdue excursion in Cozumel arriving by ferry boat on the same dock

Too many boats, not that many docks, while they keep adding boats to the fleet I don't see new docks being built

It happen to us in 2013 in another cruise line, we were supposed to go Canaveral, Turks, Saint Marteen, St Thomas, San Juan but when we left Canaveral a hurricane was due on Turks so the ship hugged the coast of Cuba (6 miles away according to captain) and Haiti from there we went straight to St Thomas and reversed the itinerary stopping at Turks 5 days later after storm had passed, it was very smooth sailing both ways.

Please enlighten me, what is the purpose of the rule if my scheduled itinerary is to return before my passport expire?

So if a person has never snorkeled before and wants to give it a go on their cruise in six months...
To give you better suggestions why don't you tell us where is the cruiseship stopping, I snorkeled at many places in the Caribbean and almost every place is different, some I will recommend a snorkeling boat tour and other places just doing it by yourself from the beach.

We have a cruise booked for South America in January and are flying out of JFK on American. We have never flown in the winter before and it really scares me that there might be a snowstorm that day. We are coming in a few days in advance but Dec. thru March are the only times these cruises are offered.
Not necessary to be scared just think of plan B just in case JFK is closed, Philly, Baltimore or Washington may be choices if the worse happens, also plenty of time to buy cruise insurance in case you haven't done at booking time.

You could jump in the car right now and still make it with plenty of time to spare.
19 hours of straight driving is still probably better than flying Spirit.
You don't have to drive all the way to Florida, last time I checked the are airports in Philly, Atlantic City, Washington DC that will require at the most 4 hours of driving

This November, my wife and I will be spending our first anniversary on a 15-night cruise on the Sun. We've previously spent two weeks on the Star and one week on the Jewel. Are there any major differences we should know about?
One of the things I like about the Sun is the aft bar with the canvas canopy, you can sit back there and enjoy the breeze and favorite drink, there is a mini buffet area nearby, I missed that on the Star but was thrilled to find in on the Jade and sat back there while the lights of Gibraltar on one side and Africa on the other.

What are the bathroom amenities on the Gem i.e. shampoo, conditioner, liquid soap (gel or not gel) bar soap? I would like to not have to pack my own.
I pack my own crap because itchy scalp but not the whole bottle, shampoo for 7 days a small 2 fl oz bottle the same for body wash but slightly bigger bottle that I refill before the cruise, I usually have some left over for a couple extra days, I use their soap for hand washing

Do they still allow smoking in the casino on NCL ships?????? or other areas????
And if you book on the Escape no need to bring cigarettes, just inhale plenty of second hand smoke on most of the casino level

the newer mega ships is more efficient in both engine performance and environment. In some ports, ships need to be equipped with a exhaust scrubber system, new ships have this and old ship do not until they are added at drydock.
Some ports like Tampa will always require a small ship unless cruise lines are willing to pay and raise the Skyway bridge, the smaller ships at this port barely clear the bridge.

I love going places where other people are fearful of going because it is less busy and incredible deals like this.

So much for security, wow, I am shocked to see that there really is NOT any security on board...
So much for security, you want more security? Here is what happens when more security shows up

It's all about the "clientele" on the ship. Just ask CCL.
Fights around the pool are predictable, booze, skympy clothing, male testosterone, we had one of those in the NCL Sun around the pool area in 2014, December 2016 CCL Victory, fistfight in main dining room among members of one table during early dining seating.

Tampa is the easiest according to my Canadians friends because of the airport, I agree because I live here and can Uber to the port in 20 minutes

It all depends on the sea conditions, I was on a Trasatlantic cruise on the Jade ( sistership of the Sun) with 30+ waves and 40 kph winds and it moved alot from Funchal to Bermuda, you had to hold on to the rails to move about the ship , but it was smooth sailing from Bermuda to Tampa with calmer seas.

When I had to wear the vest and didn't inflate it never felt a drag while going around the bottom, it feels like wearing a t-shirt, the tour operators supply their own vests in fosforent green or orange for safety of spotting people in the water and for poor swimmers to stay afloat when inflated. If you go on a tour and like to swim around the bottom I suggest wearing a watch to keep tab of the time, they usually have a set amount of time to be back in the tour boat.
