  1. Hi, I leave in 10 days for my first Celebrity Cruise, on the Summit. We are so excited to experience Celebrity, we usually sail RC or NCl. We are booked in a Celebrity Suite and haven't been able to find any info on the balcony. We would like to know what to expect as far as size and furniture since we usually spend a good deal of time there.

  2. We just did this in September and it was a great, short tour. We booked it through NCL, it was expensive but after paying for roundtrip taxi and the price of the ticket it wasn't that much more and it was just easier. Because we had the tour booked, we had an early tender, the small tour van was waiting, and it got on the road quickly. The ride itself was not that far, maybe 20 minutes but it is not worth renting a car in Kona just to do that. Afterward, there was plenty of time to enjoy a nice lunch and walk around Kona. Lots of nice little shops, we used this as a relaxing day and it was perfect!

  3. We did the lava hike in September of this year. Seeing an active flow was number 1 on our wishlist of things to do in Hawaii. On the sail by you are pretty far away to see much, just orange glow in the distance, but still a great sight! We really wanted to do a Lava boat tour but the timing did not work with the POA time in port. But we were determined to see the flow so we booked the lava hike through NCL. It was expensive but it was the adventure of a lifetime. Just be prepared if you do the hike, it isn't a walk in the park! It was very hot and sunny the day we were there, the hike is long and some of the group didn't make it to the flow. The water they supply is not nearly enough so be sure to bring additional. There is nothing better than sitting on lava rocks, eating lunch and watching the lava hit the water, truly a bucketlist adventure.

  4. If you want a great private tour guide in Oahu, call Josh 808-489-4074 or message through Facebook at Choose your Adventure. I believe he charges $48. per hour and you can do a private, custom tour. He knows everything about the island and its history. He is reliable and by time he dropped us off at the airport, it felt like he was family. I would advise booking ahead of time.

  5. We used Discount Hawaii Car Rental in Kauai, and rented from Budget. They had a shuttle and it was a quick and easy pickup and drop off. If you book from Discount Hawaii Car Rental, you can do all your rentals at once and if you have questions, give them a call, they have great customer service. They also give you a second driver free. We had to cancel one of our reservations, last minute and it was super easy and no problems.

  6. We just got back from 4 days on Oahu and POA cruise. It was an awesome trip with memories to last a lifetime. On Oahu, we had a wonderful driver and tour guide. You can get in touch with him through his facebook, Choose Your Own Adventures or call him at 808-489-4074. Josh is the best, you can customize your private tour. I believe he charges $48. per hour, and is worth every penny. He knows everything about the island and its history, by the time he dropped us off at the airport he felt like family. Enjoy your trip!:)

  7. We just did the Road to Hana in September with Valley Isle. We did not stop to swim under the waterfall and the pools were closed. I had called beforehand and they said there was a place to change. We did stop at the pools, but it was muddy and not especially nice. Valley Isle runs a great tour, our guide was Debra and she was great, so informative and entertaining. The lunch was delicious. Pre-cruise, this was my top excursion to do, however I would not do it again. We saw some awesome things, and enjoyed our day, but it was an extremely LONG day! By the end of the day, we were exhausted and felt it was just too much driving and getting in and out of the van. If this is a tour you really want to do, just go into it knowing it will be a long day, but you will see some awesome things and get great pictures. My advice would be don't schedule an early tour the next day, we did the sunrise ( it was one of the best things we did ), but was tough getting up at 2am. Enjoy your cruise!!!

  8. I don't know if the lunch is different for different excursions. We booked the Lava Field Expedition while in Hilo, Hi. on the POA. Our lunch was a boxed lunch, turkey sandwich, chips, cookie, and water. You may be able to get more information is you call the excursion desk.

  9. Thank you for this post. I am on the POA soon, in a suite, with UDP, and had no idea in suite dining was an option. So if we are tired after an excursion, can I order from Cagneys and have it delivered to my suite with no charge? Do you tip the butler when it is served or give him extra at the end?

  10. Luckily, I am not claustrophobic! Tubing was the one excursion my daughter picked for the entire trip. Thank you all for the advice. We will probably get on the road early on day 2 to see the canyon. Originally, I was hoping to get to the canyon with plenty of time to enjoy the sunset. We caught the sunset last year at the Grand Canyon and it was gorgeous.

  11. Hi, we will be on the POA soon and are trying to plan our time in Kauai. The first day, we are doing tubing and it should finish at 3:30. Would that be too late to drive to Waimea Canyon? Or would there be enough time to see the canyon on the second day with the 2 pm departure? We would love to see the canyon, but don't want to be too rushed or stressed to get back.

  12. I just booked Pride of America, room 13518 and am now questioning my choice. Someone just told me the location was noisy and windy and recommended I change to a different floor. I would love to hear from anyone who actually stayed in this room and has any advice to offer.

  13. I am pretty new to cruising and a little confused as to how to get the best deals. I am looking to book the Escape for Jan. 2016 and was ready to book today. But I was told to hold off for the February sale. Does anyone know if the same offers will be available or if the new sale will be better? Also, is there any advantage of booking through NCL rather than a TA?
