  1. The NCL bidding process means that your bid is the only additional cost for the upgrade if they accept it? I can't tell if there are any other fees involved.

If I bid 100 on a room for two and they accept then the charge will be $200, right?

  2. Yes, friend needs to be gambling age.

Because ships casinos are Small, machines are Limited. It can get Very crowded and sometimes Not enough machines to play.

If your friend is in a wheelchair, they can easily sit beside you on an End.

Otherwise, take a chair & move it to one side of you, so your friend isn't

blocking a machine that could be used by a player.

Thank you for being so courteous.

    Makes sense, thanks.

I am always intimidated to play in the casino because I felt I would do something "wrong" since I am new to it all.

    :)

  3. I have never played in a casino before. If I am in the ship's casino with a friend with a disability that does not gamble can they sit beside me while I gamble or do they have to be gambling as well?

  4. There is an app for Apple devices called Iwin Poker or WinPoker, something like that. It teaches you the correct holds and keeps track of your accuracy. In addition there is videopoker dot com that allows you to play for free on actual games from the casino. If you want to play VP long term, I would suggest checking these out. Good luck!

    Great, thanks for the resources!

  5. Practice online before you use real money. And then play small denom

like nickles til you learn more. ALWAYS Play MAX coins, whatever

    denomination you play.

I used to carry one of those handheld little battery operated vp games

with me, and would play it in Doctors office, carpool, etc.

It really helped to teach me strategy.

    Otherwise, stick to slots.

VP takes time to learn, and can be expensive

if you make alot of mistakes.

    Good luck.

Thanks, I'll do some practicing. Does the Dawn have small denomination games I wonder?

  6. I am interested in trying some video poker when I sail on the Dawn. I have never gambled, but thought it would be interesting to give it a whirl. I have walked around the casino, but was intimidated to try any table games. Any thoughts for a newbie?

  7. I would be interested in people's opinion on buying the unlimited WiFi on the Dawn. I am going to be cruising for a week to Bermuda and meanwhile my dad is in an assisted living center so it would be nice to keep up to date on how he is doing and be able to give input if needed.

Is the WiFi accessible on a device or is this only in the computer area? In the past I used it on the Dawn's computers by the minute which was OK for the occasional email.

    Any thoughts/advice appreciated.

  8. Yes. Beyond his normal appearances replacing coffee pods and bringing afternoon snacks we had several meals in the cabin. We would order our meals a couple of hours in advance and he would deliver at the appointed time.

As for tipping I believe this is a personal decision based on how much he does for you during the cruise, the length of the cruise etc. You can do a search on the boards typing in "butler tipping" and will find endless discussions. I will say I give more to the butler than the concierge. I don't use the concierge very much.

    Interesting info, thanks for sharing.

  9. The SE suite is a penthouse with balcony. Very much larger than your balcony. How many in your party? If only two, looking at $1500.00.

I would do it. Do you have any extras in current fare? Make sure they will transfer.

Just two of us and the UDP for both.

Would this mean butler/concierge? That seems a little intimidating. As far as tipping and such

  10. I have cruised on the NCL Dawn for five years each time accompanying a person with an intellectual disability. I have never sought out any extra help or accommodations as we get along just fine and crew and passengers are always friendly and helpful, but I wonder if maybe embarkation and disembarkation might be made easier for us? Also open to any other suggestions or experiences. I would love to hear from other folks to help make this an even more enjoyable trip for my friend.
