  1. I had vip years ago. I am going to ask my TA if they have this as an old TA got it for me. I was in a regular room. I really liked how while waiting to boats you got to wait in the suite area and got priority boarding!! That in itself was awesome!

  2. Ummmmm. Yes they are Allowed if it is a separate filtration system and able to be cleaned. That’s exactly what the law states.

the pearl based on pictures has a clearly seperate pool called a baby pool, in a completely separate indoor area  away from the other pools.

AND I am not asking about nursery.

they state they have guppies programming daily on all ships for babies under 3 wirh parents

  3. Thank you!!! I am going to cruise with my husband and 15 month old and want to get an idea of timing of kids events or night shows to see how we can even work this. My baby is good thankfully and if she went to any shows with us we’d be in the back on an aisle ready to walk out if s problem but I’d like to get an idea!

No, unfortunately. The group babysitting is only available for kids enrolled in the kids club.  If you have a 15 month old and the ship has no nursery your only option is to cruise with family/friends who are happy to babysit your little one.

not an option to bring anyone else. Will just take baby to shows with us then and sit in the back and leave if she gets loud

  5. Willl be traveling wirh a 15 month old out of ny/nj. Oasis is so expensive and the only royal ship with the nursery out of these ports. The empress and advantage are also out of here but no nursery but I saw this somewhere, is this true for babies less then 3?

All ships offer group babysitting from 6 p.m. to midnight (for $8 per child, per hour). Space is limited so advance reservation are suggested.”

thanks!!! Or is there just nothing for babies since there is no in room sitting anymore and these don’t have a nursery? Thanks!!
  6. what all comes with your VIP package? if you get everything for "free" what we have to pay for to stay in a full suite, then maybe we have been doing a lot wrong.

This is what I was told when I asked about the priority boarding "

Hi, it was added by our rep.

You will receive all the amenities while on board. Once you arrive at the pier, you will need to go to the suite area and tell them you are on the manifest for priority boarding. I will warn you, they may give you a hard time and claim they don’t “see” you on the list as this perk is strictly for suite guests, but insist to them to look for the cabin #."

I used cruises n more and tried to get a price match and they couldn't do it and said "

    >> I did hear from our Sales Manager at NCL, and he confirmed those are group rates that they are trying to sell. Although we won't be able to match the rates, due to our great relationship with NCL he is willing to add a $200 on board credit and a VIP package (this includes priority embarkation/disembarkation, bottle of champagne upon arrival, choc. Covered strawberries, 2 for 1 dinner at a specialty restaurant and other amenities)"

  7. rvsullivan yes VIP was added by NCL to my TA for me. They said it is what the suite people get.

cygnets thanks for tip about the oatmeal cookies and ice cream in great outdoors exact type of stuff I want to know!!

** AND i was concerned about them not enforcing the adult only rule in the hot tub so thanks!!

  8. Gem questions…

We where told we were being given VIP package by our TA..is it supposed to say that on our edocs? Or we just go to VIP line?

It was mentioned somewhere that there is a front adults only hot tub? Then it was mentioned somewhere this is only for the “crew”?

Can you get the specialty drinks like latte, espresso etc and then have them add Kahlua, irish cream, or bailys to then make it free?

"Quiet Zone" on deck 14 is different than freestyle deck on 15? How?

Someone said servers can bring drinks to you on deck 15?

The BBQ next to the pool is this everyday?

We are big noshers and snack people:

Where can we get free ice cream? What are the hours?

What desserts does o’shehans have for free?

Deck 7- FREE cakes all day through the daylight hours right at the main bar in the center of the Atrium?? What is this? Just snacks?

Late night desserts--you can usually find desserts on the AFT deck which is all the way through the other side of the buffet? Is this the only place for late night snacks other than o’sheehans?

Nassau excursion- planning to do blue lagoon…..what is the best location ( EXACT) form the boat to hang out in hammocks by the water etc and use the free flotation device they provide and then be able to see the dolphins etc?

People said you can see them for free? Do you just enter and they don’t make you pay or is there a specific way to sneak in?

  9. More than that...actually there are 10.

    Four on the pool deck...

    Two more in the Spa...

    Two in the GV suites...

    One in the Haven...

One for crew on the bow.

I am sorry I do not mean to sound stuck up...but you are telling me that us "normal" people in regular cabins have to fight to use the 4 with teenagers etc but the "crew" who are working get their own hot tub?

  10. Since TA was unable to prove match another companies price they spoke to NCL and got me a VIP package added. Anyone know what else is included? My TA said: VIP package (this includes priority embarkation/disembarkation, bottle of champagne upon arrival, choc. Covered strawberries, 2 for 1 dinner at a specialty restaurant and other amenities)

  11. We already went on celebrity and loved it and being able to get in the pool and hot tub is important to me and it doesn't seem like an option on GEM unless you pay for the thermal suit??

** also debating now about carnival splendor?

  12. Last summer took celebrity summit and loved every part of it!!! Want to leave from NY or NJ since I'm local but wanted to try something else. We were going to do Norweigan Gem to Florida and Bahamas. It is a little more than re money and I am discovering the pool situation etc may not be worth it. Celebrity had an outside look and hot tubs outside that were always crowded and I assume the same will be for this one but celebrity had an indoor heated pool and hot tubs and we spent a great deal of time there. The only equivalent would be getting access to the thermal suite correct? Paying an extra $100 each? That hardly seems worth it when it came included with Celebrity. Won't the gem outside pools fill up fast also? Gem boasts about having 6 hot tubs but really only have 4 for the public. Another is in thermal suite and one in villas so not publicly accessible.

So which is more worth my money? I know people don't usually even compare celebrity to carnival but I'm comparing Norwegian gem to carnival splendor for Bahamas.
