November 2 2019, Symphony of the seas 50 years bold cruise. Just looked at my pictures and videos and it is like a different world. Social distancing did not exist at the promenade parties.

Apparently the cabin wine wasn't cold yet, so I was sent up to SL for a pre muster wine. Got another beer as well. I think we are on round 3 now.
Forgot to mention, we have matching yellow Wow bands. No idea why they do it that way. I need to mark mine before we get them confused. I do like them, especially when double fisting a booze delivery.
Muster was entertaining. We were in E1, Rising Tide, but were directed to sit in NextCruise. A late arrival couple sat behind us and he proceeded to massage her calfs and rub her feet while she squealed and giggled. 😱
Way to much PDA for muster, or for anywhere I guess.
This was a time that I actually wanted to watch Blair and Oliver. 🤣
If I remember right from. Anthem, wow band colors correspond to muster stations

Belt Bridge has a clearance of 213' at mean high water, Verrazzano 228', Oasis has a listed height of 236'.
Looks like via NOAA that the max air gap gets up to around 231'-233' at low tide. So Royal would obviously have to do some engineering if they wanted to get an Oasis ship into Bayonne. I don't see it as that big of a longshot though. If you put an Oasis ship in Bayonne during the summer you are possibly tapping into the Boston, New York, Philadelphia, and Baltimore/Washington markets.
I don't see any reason why it couldn't run on the PC, Nassau, CocoCay itinerary now that the pier will be finished there. Not the most ideal itinerary, but kind of like when I cruised on Anthem, the ship is becoming more of its own destination.
I agree that Oasis or Allure could do a 7 night Florida Bahamas out of Bayonne provided the stack can still retract after adding the scrubbers (I heard Harmony & Symphony's stacks to do not retract)
Royal has a contract with Bermuda for the number of passengers delivered and I would assume that was re-written when they dredged to fit Anthem to match Anthem's numbers. I believe they need a Freedom Class ship doing the 5/9 split that Anthem does now and possibly a Voyager Class visiting every other Sunday to make up the numbers.
If they can reduce 2020's numbers to what a Freedom Class can carry then they could replace Adventure of the Seas with an Oasis Class doing the Bahamas run.

I was told Oasis class ships can fit under the Verrazzano bridge and I believe did once? Someone sent me a picture once of an Oasis ship in the NY Harbor.
Oasis & Allure were built in Finland and went under the Belt bridge which is I believe 10 feet lower than the Verrazano, so as long as their stacks can still retract they can fit into New York Harbor. I am not sure if the container terminal across for Cape Liberty would be thrilled with their beam.
Neither ship has ever been to New York and I am pretty sure Bermuda did not dredge to fit Oasis Class ships, so as much as I would love to see an Oasis Class ship in my backyard, I doubt that will happen.

Next question, what ship will replace Anthem?
I think this is for Anthem's 5 year drydock, which means they may just switch Anthem and Independence for the one summer so that Anthem can drydock in Europe.

You can try using the ap once onboard. You can also use the ones in the excursions center which will be directly across from where you enter Anthem on deck 5.Sent from my SM-G928V using Forums mobile app

Is this for NY area? The link does not work for me?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yes NYC is under a Winter Storm watch for Saturday night, 3-5 inches expected. Cold front passing through today which will probably be your heavy seas.

A super studio balcony was on my cabin crawl, they are above the rescue boat (9 or 10 man boat), there was little if any obstruction. Your balcony maybe as big as your room.

Are you thinking of sailing Anthem out of New York in February?
Anthem is a great ship but if you are concerned about seasickness, Anthem may not be the best option, but if you do get a balcony on deck 6 (lowest level of balconies).
Oasis class out of Fort Lauderdale or Port Canaveral would be larger and more stable with a little less concern about storms. Again a lower level ocean view balcony or perhaps a Central Park balcony would work best.
Good luck with your cruise shopping! :)

I believe they can fit in the new lock, but they are too tall for the bridges.
I am surprised Ovation did not replace Explorer in Alaska since it has more indoor space and is more environmentally friendly.

She is off of Horseshoe Bay right now
-
I think at least part of the kids area was in that lift.

Wonder why they are building Solarium structure before adding the spa/gym deck?
The Gym and spa are in the bow on the Oasis Class.
I believe the elevator mechanical rooms and radar mast would be behind that structure. They would not get installed until the elevator shafts are installed.

She is sailing from Eastern Caribbean to Bayonne, Bermuda may not be that far off course for a medical emergency.
I would guess she would pause off St George and a tug or ferry would come out to get the patient.
Marine traffic does show a passenger ship due south of Bermuda heading north

Library is on deck 6.
You are correct, keep thinking the esplenade is on deck 5 like Oasis and Explorer and then start counting decks up.
The library is behind the control booth for 270 on the balcony

I just booked a guarantee on Anthem on Monday for September 9. My cabin was already assigned. I got 7694. It looks OK. Is this near the smoking place that is mentioned in previous posts??
You are aft of th smoking stop it is near the middle of recess between the aft stairs and 270. Looks like you are on the back hump.
-
I think there might be a few computers in the library on deck 7 off of 270.
With voom I think most people bring their own devices.
-
The smoking area is on the starboard side aft so pick one on the port side or forward of the aft elevators on the starboard side.
I had 6562 all the way forward on the starboard side, the cabin was quiet with an extended balcony behind boat 1 and just a few doors down from the forward stairs. (Chops grill is below)
-
It sounds like the worst are the obstructed views by the smoking bus stop on the starboard side aft. Some obstructed views are considered 75% with both the boat and the davit arm.
Obstructed views are sometimes cheaper than the guarantee and then you can try to pick one away from the smoking stop.
Deck 6 is the first deck of balconies, I had a cabin with the boat 1 davit arm, the obstructed view didn't bother me and it was one or two flights of stairs to the esplanade shops, bars and restaurants.
