Why did you submit an application if the medication/drugs you will be carrying are not on the controlled list????   The ‘import’ restrictions have only ever been applicable to the clearly listed controlled substances and not to all prescribed medicines.... The same ‘rules’ apply to those of us resident in the UAE as well as visitors and I’ve travelled in an out for years with no issues at all.  I travel with one drug that is on the list and always have a copy of the stamped and signed controlled drug prescription with me, everything else just gets thrown in my handbag or carry on without any supporting paperwork at all...

    Anne..

There are too numerous posts on here on this subject to read every one, and given that the rules recently changed and I'm not medically of pharmaceutical trained I wasn't sure what was and wasn't allowed. That's why I submitted an application.

Hopefully others won't worry in the future.

  2. So, having thought it best to submit an application than spending 3 months in jail, I got the necessary documents from my doctor and submitted two applications (one for myself and one for my wife).

Twenty four hours later we each receive emails advising that our applications have been rejected on the basis that as none of the personal use medications declared are on the list of prohibited substances there is no requirement to obtain approval to import.

    What a waste of time!

  3. Does anybody have any experience regarding bringing personal prescription medication into Dubai, UAE? I understand a copy of the doctors prescription is required to be presented on entry at immigration but wondered if there is a pre-entry request required?

Also, what are the rules for over-the-counter medication (eg aspirin/ibuprofen/paracetamol, multi-vitamins, cold/flu remedies etc)? How should these be declared?

  4. Celebrity Eclipse M&M on Norwegian Fjords sailing 9/5/15

I registered with Celebrity prior to sailing and received the confirmation email saying I would receive the date and time of the meeting on the first night of the cruise.

When we first went to the cabin there was no information regarding the M&M. ON going to bed the first night there was nothing, nor during the morning of the first day.

We went to Guest Relations to enquire when and where and were told that this was the responsibility of Cruise Critic to notify members. I showed them the Celebrity email, at which point the Guest Relations assistant found that the meeting was held at 10:15am that morning.

Very disappointed as this was the first time we had joined a Cruise Critic group and were looking forward meeting new friends. Just hope it works better on the next cruise. [emoji53]

  5. Thank you 'Share a Shore Excursion Italy' for providing an excellent service.

Our group was met on the dockside, immediately adjacent to the ships exit, by our driver and guide, Big Luca. The van was extremely well presented, being spotlessly clean on both the inside and outside. The the type of van used was perfect, providing comfortable seating, airconditioning, and, with the high roof, a sense of space; access to and from the van was also perfect via the large sliding side door.

Big Luca asked each of us if there was anything in particular we would like to see, given that the time available was somewaht limited, and visits to the Colleseum and Vatican were already included within the tour.

Overall we had an excellent day, with lunch at a pizzeria recommended by Big Luca (good food at reasonable prices in Rome!), and arrived back at the ship in good time.

It is the first time we have used Share a Shore Excursion, and, despite the many glowing reviews on sites like Cruise Critic and Trip Advisor, there is alway some trepidation when committing to a (fairly) expensive day tour - we should not have been worried as everything operated like clockwork and we enjoyed our day in Rome.

Thanks again to Big Luca and the office staff for arranging the day. If ever we are in Rome again, or any of the other locations that Share a Shore Excursion operate, we won't hesitate to use the company again.
