I sailed out of SF to Alaska..It was so rough the first night, I thought I was going to fall out of the bed. Sorry!!! Glad I don't get seasick.

Is there any restaurants/bars within walking distance at this port of call? Just meeting a local friend there and rather not drive anywhere.

Anyone have any experiences with Uber or Taxi from Manhattan hotel to Red Hook terminal on a Saturday? Which one wold be least expensive? Seems like all of the car services I have called is minimum $75.

The Hilton Midtown Manhattan was low to mid 200s if you are a Hilton Honors member.

You want to avoid staying at any JFK airport area hotels, even those carrying brand names you would normally trust. NY City has contracts to house temporarily homeless families at the JFK area hotels, and the results can be unpleasant, ranging from noise due to unsupervised children running around in the halls to much more serious situations involving criminal activities.

 

Fly into LGA and stay at a hotel near that airport. I can't make a recommendation for a specific LGA area hotel, but hopefully someone else who has recent experience there will chime in with a recommendation.

Leaving from Red Hook...which airport should I fly into? JFK or LGA?

Holy crap! They charge $39 for a 12 pack of bottled water? Carnival just upped their price of a 12 pack...to $3.99! RC has 1 liter bottles in the 12 pack vs. Carnival's 0.5 liter bottles, but it's still 5 times the price on RC.

 

Odd that two competing lines have such a disparity in the cost of bottled water onboard. But then again, I doubt anyone chooses their cruise line based on the price of bottled water.

Princess charges $6.90 for 10 bottles. My RCCL cruise states 12 bottles for $47. That is crazy expensive.

I only posted it twice. Is it bothering you??? I thought this was a place you can ask questions. Jeez. Never sailed RCCL before..now I know why

I called RCCL today and asked if I can bring some bottles of water on board. The rep told me, No, the only drinks I can bring is wine and champagne." I told him I dont drink and all I want is water. He said, "you asked me and I told you what you can bring."

So all the recent cruisers, can you give your input. I DO NOT want to fill up at the buffet area, I want water for my cabin in bottles.

Thanks everyone for the answers. I know it is probably the same water that you get in the buffet area. But I just want to be able to open a bottle of water in my cabin and not having to worry about refilling.

I just like having bottles in my cabin for the convenience.

Can I bring a case of water on the ship sailing out of Pt Everglades? I feel $47 is a bit steep for the water package.

Where are the emails in the personalizer that Princess used to send? They seem to have disappeared off the Cruise Personalizer. Thought it was a computer glitch but it has been for almost 2 weeks.

what airport are you flying into? We don't recommend hotels at jfk. The usual advice is to book a car service like dial 7 or carmellimo to secure a predetermined price.

Looking to come in a day before. Leaving out of Brooklyn in Oct. What is the best way to get to the hotel and then the cruise port the next day? Not looking to use mass/public transportation. Shuttle is what I am aiming for. Any suggestions where to stay? Is LaGuardia or JFK my best bet?
