  1. We are interested in doing the Extended Historic American Cities & Quebecois Culture 18 nights / 19 Days New York City to New York City cruise. At the moment there is only one sailing and that's in September 2023. Does anyone know when they will be releasing their second half of the year cruises?

  2. The pictures of the ship and staterooms on their website do look impressive. I'm looking forward to hearing how those of you who cruise with Explora find everything. There is only one itinerary that interests me at the moment but so far it is only offered for 2023. I'm waiting for future itinerary releases probably 2025 since 2023 & 2024 are booked with 6 cruises on Silversea, Viking and RSSC.

To MSC's credit, they did offer an exceptional product when entering the US market twelve years ago:  an outstanding shipboard experience at a remarkably low price.  Perhaps they will enter the upscale market with pricing that will attract even the most critical.  However, I totally agree they will have to improve their landside customer service.

We cruised MSC 10 years ago and the service was crap (I can think of a few other choice words for it but that's the most polite one), my husband and I both had food poisoning at different times in the cruise, if you only spoke English 9 out of 10 times your shore excursion got cancelled because MSC refused to pay the guides an extra 5 euro to speak English on the tour and yes that is a fact as we got that information from one of the tour guides who had been told not to speak English as MSC refused to pay the 5 Euro, we were on a German speaking tour and no we don't speak German. At the end of the cruise they asked all of the passengers to critique them so we did, we ended up with almost 8 foolscap pages of complaints. We had a travel agent onboard who we made friends with and she said she will for the rest of her working life never recommend MSC Cruises to any of her clients. No one we met had a good word to say about them. Half the crew were fabulous the rest were MEH! It will be a bloody miracle if MSC can rise to the heights of RSSC, Silversea and any other Luxury Line.

  4. I'm probably a bit late for this forum but just in case others are reading like I am we booked the 2016 August Alaska / Canada cruisetour on Millennium in December 2014 while on Solstice and the staff advised us to book 6145 so we did. Not sure if I will like being so low on the ship as I like the high decks but it will be an adventure and a good one too (I think) from what everyone has been saying about 6145. I believe the wardrobe is quite small compared to other cabins however this is only a 7 day cruise so it should be fine any longer and I think I would be changing. I would like to read some recent reviews on this stateroom as all the ones I have read are 2013 going back to 2006.

  5. This coming June we will be doing our 3rd back-to-back cruise to Alaska on the Millennium. Celebrity must be doing something right or we wouldn't be sailing.

Thanks for the photo links. We were on Solstice last December in a Concierge class stateroom also Aft and I must say the layout on Millie is much better than Solstice. We had the bed next to the door and it was very crowded and awkward to move. I much prefer having the lounge next to the door I think it gives the room the feeling of being bigger. Not sure of the huge floor length mirror opposite the bed though. Also your balcony is a lot bigger than ours. I think we were in a small Concierge class compared to others that we saw on board. Wardrobe is also in a different spot. If I knew how to upload my photos onto here I would, but never mind. We have decided to spoil ourselves when we sail on Millie next year and have opted for a Sky Suite, we only did this because we were told the cabins on Millie (being an older ship) are smaller than Solstice. Anyway I'm looking forward to our trip next year regardless of what negatives other say. You are the one who makes the good times happen. :)

  6. Well after reading all the recent reviews (good and bad) on here I am still sticking with our booking on Celebrity Millennium. We chose Celebrity because they were the only cruiseline that had pre & post cruise tours of Alaska & Canada in one package that didn't cost the earth. We sailed on Solstice in December and absolutely loved her, I know Millie is a different class but we are looking forward to cruising on her August 2016. As our suite is connected to the Penthouse suite we should get excellent service. The only place Millie doesn't go that I wanted to go was Sitka and I will get there when we do Canada west to east starting with another cruise sometime in the distant future. We all have good and bad cruises. Some of you say you will never sail Celebrity again that is how I feel about MSC, I will never sail with them no matter how good the deal is NEVER. Happy cruising everyone and I hope your next ones are fantastic. :)
