  1. Hello-

we arent cruising until Feb 2018, but I homeschool my kids and summer is the only time I will be able to plan for this. any and all help is SO appreciated. we are sailing on the Vista with 4 kids (20,18,12,10).

    1. Can we bring bottled water (and soda) on board, like 24 packs? If not, will the price go down online for it through the ship? Right now its showing $4.50 for 12.

    2. Formal night, how formal is it on Carnival? Is it formal night in the $$ restaurants?

    3. How do I book the Dr Suess breakfast?

    4. There are only a handful of excursions on my Carnival page, will there be more?

    5. Where can I look for outside vendors also? We are going to Gr Turk, St Kitts, San Juan and St Martin

    6. What is the typical dress in the MDR's for dinner? Ive heard its gotten more casual. . . Can my kids come in in shorts and a t shirt?

Sorry for all the questions, I thoroughly searched the Carnival cruise dashboard for our cruise, but didnt find answers.

    Thank you!

  2. It really depends how bad your motion sickness is. I have AWFUL motion sickness, once the persistent nausea, then vomiting it takes IV medication to get it to stop. The active ingredient in Dramamine his a histamine blocker, which is basically benedryl, which drys out your stomach. And you nose, mouth, skin, etc. And makes you tired. And for me, grouchy and hungry. All things I dont want to be on vacation.

The non drowsy Dram works if I need a top up after the original Dram dose. Once you get some in your system it tends to work longer. If you want to go the Dram route I suggest taking it at night a few nights before the cruise. Then pop a few non drowsy during the day. Continue that while on board.

However, my preferred cruise med is the Rx Transderm patches. You pop one on for 3 or 4 days, behind your ear and no sea sickness. They are spendy, but worth it to enjoy your cruise and not be feeling queezy or so tired you cant enjoy. I believe they come in packs of 4, which is going to cost you around $100.

    Good luck!

  3. hello-

we just booked a cruise for February which is part of my kids Christmas gift this year. (i know, i am planning early, kids are 20,18,12,10) we will be on the carnival vista for 8 days, during the PNW's frigid winter!!! anywho, one of the kids gifts they will open will tell them about the cruise and destinations. I am looking for some creative ideas for it, packaging, items to include etc. As of right now, I think i will make them some luggage tags with the ship info, include a float chair or raft for the beaches, and maybe a couple of warm weather clothing items. we did a scavenger hunt last year for hawaii so i'm not wanting to repeat that.

    Thank you!

  4. We are will be on the Grand Mediterranean (12 day) and will at some point need laundry done and need a bit of internet. How much is the internet, is it wifi or do I have to use their computers? As for laundry, does anyone know what day on that cruise they offer laundry specials or just what they charge for a "bag" of clothes? And does anyone know how much laundry is if they arent doing a special?

    thank you!

  5. Hello- our family of 6 is looking at booking a half or whole day tour in Istanbul for some of the big sites and a tour of Ephesus + Terrace Houses. We will most likely book through Tours by Locals which has local, licensed guides for a fraction of what the cruise line charges. If you are interested in filling in our group, please let me know. Most groups are up to ten, some larger. The approx cost for a couple in Ephesus (with our group) would be about $50-60 for both people. It includes the guide and transportation to and from the cruise pier. Istanbul was a bit more, closer to $75/couple. Below is a link to their website, check them out, they come highly recommended!

  6. Our ship leaves Nov 2 from Barcelona to Venice, 12 day cruise. Has anyone cruised around that time and what generally was the water like? (and weather) Luckily we are in port 10 of the 12 days, but i have TERRIBLE motion sickness. And our kids have never cruised before so i just want to be prepared mentally and medicinally! Also any tips you have keeping the queasies away are much appreciated. I am getting seabands, will bring dramamine, and possibly ginger pills.

    Thank you!

  7. We have one day in Naples port, from about 8am-7pm. we had planned to do pompeii, but i am looking for a plan b. we are heavy on "ruins" in our trip and i dont want to wear our kids out early. :) we will be doing our excursions on our own, so we will take a train to one of these places. i had thought about Capri for the day, but I think i read that in early November tourist boats arent running? has anyone done the amalfi coast, and what in particular was great? same with sorrento and naples.

    thank you!

  8. Hi,

our family will be sailing on NCL Spirit Nov 2 for a 12 day Mediterranean trip. My questions are: the site says that when arriving in a port you wont be allowed to leave the boat for 2 hours after arrival, is this true? Also, it says you have to be back on boat 2 full hours before taking off again? Just trying to make itineraries for stops and wondered how much actual time we will have.

also, just to clarify, we have 2 on board credits, one from expedia, one from NCL. the one from NCL we have to spend on board on drinks or restaurants, the one from expedia, can that be used for gratuities?

    thank you!
