  1. Exactly, what an easy solution to improve a customer's experience.

Man this is a tough room - I guess Carnival should be proud of the intense loyalty they have developed.

    The perfect product apparently

No, people live to be mean on these boards. Don’t take it personally. I understand your point, from a customer service perspective, it’s lacking. Rules and policies should be reviewed for their usefulness periodically.

  2. [qu Drote=GrantGator;54565617]I am hoping that someone can please post pics/scans of the FunTimes for the Carnival Sensation.

This is for the 5 Day Eastern Caribbean from Miami with ports at Amber Cove and Grand Turk.

I know this a pretty new itinerary so I hope someone can post them.

I know one previous poster had FunTimes for the Sensation but not for our itinerary.

    We depart on December 9th.

    Thanks in advance.

I was looking for the same thing so I can plan some events for my roll call fb group.

My post above [emoji1426]was for Amber Cove and Grand Turk

  3. OMG! Day of, night before [emoji50] I would have a heart attack. We start months before and I use OneNote to make a grid of items. We have already ordered swimsuits for next August lol [emoji23].

I label each activity for me and hubby, and then either add a picture if I know for sure what item goes there or a description if I still need to purchase.

2 alternate swimsuits and dress outfits in case of wardrobe malfunctions lol

I use packing cubes which are the best ever. One each for daytime looks, swim, dress and pajamas/undies. Makes knowing where something is a lot easier.

I also keep my toiletries and meds pre stocked (restocked after each trip).

I make everyone a booklet of their boarding passes, info about excursions, info about the ship, deck plans, luggage tags and photo page of who’s on the trip as a souvenir. They can throw their passports/BC and flight ticket extras in there too.

I use my book to collect the Fun times and other momentos and it’s already pretty much organized before we get home.

    I ❤️ travel planning.

  5. Looking to book a cruise for next Christmas. Family of 5 (family room!!! yea!!!!), either the Koningsdam or Nieuw Statendam. Identical save for first port of call.

    Ports of call:

    1) Grand Turk or Amber Cove

    2) San Juan

    3) St Thomas

    4) Half Moon Cay

My husband and sons (teens) will want to get in as much fishing as possible, but I want to balance that with family time (my college daughter and me).

I guess my question is for those who fish: is Turks and Caicos a must-fish destination? Assume we will never be back....

I saw that the Amber Cove port has an amazing looking

which fits my FAMILY adventure time demand.

    Thoughts??? Thanks for your input!

I couldn’t get your video to play, but if this is the 27 Waterfalls excursion, we did it on our 11/11 Carnival sailing and it was fantastic!!! Get water shoes with good soles, or wear some old gym shoes you want to throw away.

  6. I wonder if all the special requests that are made for the Chef's Table menu affect the quality of the food able to be served to the table as a whole ... gluten free, vegan, vegetarian, fat-free, sugar-free ???

The time to construct those dishes has to take away from the time the chef has to prepare each course.:( All those variations would seem to make the chef more of a short order cook. (feels like having the waitress at Huddle House calling out the variations on the hash browns to the cook)

No it didn’t. We were a group of 8. My husband is allergic to shell fish and my friend is allergic to fresh strawberries, and one person doesn’t eat pork. There were 2 other couples with us, and I don’t know if they had restrictions. They ask you several times well in advance about the dietary restrictions and then everyone else get what’s planned and those few people get an alternate item.

  7. My too  I would be so stressed!!!!!!! I always arrive the night before because you never know what could happen not to mention some Holiday traveling will have already started. My family of 8 will be there and so will my parents so if someone else misses the ship I will send them a text saying sorry before we leave the port on the ship. ;)

Please urge them to leave the night before by 6 or 7 pm even if they have to sleep at a rest stop or truck stop for a few hours. That way they can plan to get there around 9 or 10am and get on the ship as soon as the doors open.

We live in Florida, but the other couples we cruise with live in Ohio. It’s a short 2 hour plane ride, and they always book the first flight. That puts them in FLL by 9 or 10am, we meet them and all board together. This last cruise 2 weeks ago, the plane was delayed. They didn’t get in until about 1pm [emoji33]. After getting bags and alternate transportation to the port, we didn’t get there until 3pm and we had to schlep all of our stuff ourselves because the porters were gone.

It turned out fine, but almost didn’t. The new rule is that they come in the night before now.

Even though we only live 2 hours from Miami, we went on a cruise last year that started the day after Easter. My family went to church and then we headed on down to FT. Lauderdale and we found that we really liked being there the day before. Less stress, just get up and go [emoji5].

  8. Are there mini fridge in the cabins?

Unfortunately no. But I have read on here that you can request one. I’ve never done that before.

The room steward will keep you stocked with ice if you ask the first day. Imade kept our wine [emoji485] bottles chilled throughout the cruise [emoji5]

  9. Thanks for sharing the photos and responses to my questions. I am going on the sensation in January 2018. By chance, did you pay attention to the ceiling in the cabins - is it metallic? I am trying to hang metal hooks to hang a curtain around a crib, similar to this person's post: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2088500

Yes, the ceiling looked like that picture. But I wouldn’t haven’t remembered without that photo ! Lol

  10. To OP, no free lobster on 5-day or less cruises. What you saw was the Steakhouse selections.

There is a corkage fee for the wine you bring on board. You did find a way to get around that, but they weren't doing anything wrong by telling you of the charge.

That's the old deli menu. I'm really going to miss the turkey on country roll.

Yes, I had heard about the free Lobster going away, just letting others know.

And I know there is a corkage fee, but on our previous 4 sailings, we have brought our bottle and no one said a thing. So I was reporting what happened this time.

Maybe Sensation is due soon for the new deli menu, this was the menu on our sailing 11/11.

  11. Thanks for the reply. From what I have heard, the new menu has buffalo chicken & wraps, & chocolate chip cookies. Oh..I have also heard the new items are pre-made & sitting out.

Those might have been on the buffet. I’m not a big buffet girl though... I did notice chicken wings only because my son would have loved that ! Lol

  12. How was the food? And drinking water?

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

The MDR food was just ok. I had steak, salmon and the chicken. The Salmon was the best, I had it twice. The salads, appetizers and side items were good.

The water in MDR was the best ! We also ordered a 12 pack for our room that was $4.50.

I did not have any buffet food, but it did look good. I had Blue Iguana Cantina (Yum!) Pizza ( just ok) and Guys Burgers ( the best ever). We also did the Chefs Table “excursion “ and that was the best food I have ever had anywhere.

We had the sit down breakfast every morning in the Fantasy Dining Room. My favorites there were the breakfast potatoes, omelette and bacon.

We were able to get off the ship both ports at about 8 or 830 I think. We got off about 9 in Amber Cove and took a van to do the 27 Waterfalls excursion.

On our Grand Turk day it was raining, so we didn’t leave until about 10 or 11. By then it was lightly raining and we ended up staying at Margaritaville all day. They have this drink called the Incommunicado [emoji33]... Boy, it was serious !

By the way you can get your passports stamped at both ports. At Amber Cove it’s free, but at Grand Turk it’s $2.00 at the little Post Office. Those are both located in the shopping area at the port.

  13. Thanks for sharing as there is not a lot of info on this ship. How was the water? Who was your cruise director?

The Cruise Director was Orlando. He’s from Jamaica I believe, and he was a lot of fun. The Love and Marriage show was the best ever !

The waters were choppy and the newbie cruisers with us had a rough time with that. I could feel it, but so far I have never been affected by Sea Sickness.

I’ve been on 5 cruises and this was the best by far.

  14. We went on the 11/11 Sailing to Amber Cove and Grand Turk. I don’t have the energy to do a full review but will answer any questions. [emoji5]

Background: Group of 4 couples, 3 from Ohio, We live in Florida

Parked in Fll at the Hilton Garden Inn for $23

The flight from Ohio was delayed and by the time we got to the port, it was about 2:45 or so and we had to tote all of our own luggage [emoji33]

But it worked out because of course our cabins were ready so no lost luggage and no additional searching [emoji6]

The ship looked just like every other ship I’ve been on; no visible wear and tear, everything was clean and tidy as expected

Ocean view Cabin on 7 - same and nice as usual, but looking to keep moving on up to a Balcony next go round

Brought 8 bottles of wine [emoji485] in one bag for all the couples

The first night we took our wine bottles to the MDR, they wanted to charge the corkage fee so we didn’t drink them.

The other nights; we pre-poured and just brought a glass - no issues

There was one elegant night, but we dressed formal twice for The Chefs Table and formal pics

Chefs Table is pricey but worth it at least one time

Lobster is no longer free on Elegant night

The Cruise Director was hilarious and the entertainment staff was high energy [emoji954]

The New pizza was ok when you are starved [emoji23]

Blue Iguana Cantina is my new ❤️

We did the 27 Waterfalls Excursion at AmberCove - self booked, saved $$

It was drizzling on the Grand Turk day, so we ended up hanging at Margaritaville all day

Service was excellent as usual-left gratuities in place, but also left extra for cabin steward and dining staff

Looking at the 8 day southern Caribbean for 1 of our next cruises [emoji7]

  15. I travel with 3 other couples and when we have all the kids, it’s 19 of us. We do a group T-shirt and or tumbler/tote bag to commemorate the event.

We also book one excursion all together so that we have at least one group activity. We love having the kids together, they watch each other [emoji5]

  16. Just FYI, it's called Wagu beef, just in case you decide you'd like to try it again (YUM!). And more importantly, what a lovely couple you are!

Thank you !! I haven’t opened the scroll with the names of the courses yet. It was so very good though [emoji5]☀️
