  1. My husband also put mine in his back pocket and sat on it! We checked Amazon and eBay and even Craigslist for used ones (to use for our last cruise actually) and they were running around $65. However on eBay we found a guy selling the new screen (shipped from China) for $27 including shipping so I bought one. My husband installed the new screen and it works perfect BUT he said to tell you while the installation was straight forward but you do have to be familiar with very tiny screw drivers and the worse part was plugging back in the electronic connections - try youtube for a demonstration as it was "indispensable"!to him if you want to fix yours!

Unbelievable! :( Thanks for the tip! I may look into that.

  2. I loved my kindle keyboard - but unfortunately i put it in my back pocket and forgot about it! low and behold i sat down on the aeroplane and crack!!! I will try and pick a second hand one up on ebay now - thanks for reminding me!!!!!

  3. To upgrade, you have to pay the difference between what you paid and the price of the new stateroom. The price of your current stateroom has no bearing on your upgrade price.

This is what i thought too...but the price difference between when i booked and the price now doesnt seem too great...i didnt book in a sale period either.

  4. So i called my TA to find out how much it would cost to upgrade from our Interior category cabin (L) to a Balcony (D8)

Having looked at the official site and "price tracker" sites...there is little difference in the price between the two cabins...

However on calling my TA the upgrade was quoted at £996 ($1600) dollars! - they wouldnt give me a price breakdown.....

The ship has LOTS of availability...i dont understand why its so much :(

  5. Yes, you can call and have your stateroom moved to another in your same category. Were you assigned that stateroom from a GTY? You can also pay to upgrade your category. ;)

Hi, We wanted an inside stateroom mainly due to the money - i am tempted to ring and see if we can get an upgrade or a move rooms 'just in case'

  6. We are booked onto the Allure in November and we staying in an inside Cabin on Deck 14.

The position of the cabin is right next to the entrance the Kids avenue leading to all the kids play areas.

We dont plan on being in the cabin during the day and my assumption is that these areas would really go quiet later in the evening? do the kid areas close at specific times?

In addition - do the elevators make much noise - we were assured not - if they did what are the chances of having a cabin move?

    Thanks

    Col

  7. We just went there in May. We booked through a private site. It worked out fine, and since the ship didn't leave til after dark, I wasn't worried about missing the ship. Passion Island was too nice to miss.

Catcruzer - any chance you can share the link with me for the site you used? Just seen the pictures and it looks awesome! We are looking for an excursion on our Nov sailing of Allure.

  8. I like milk, but for whatever reason could care less about having it on vacation:D I guess when travelling I'd rather have all that hi-fat bacon, sausage and eggs for a change.

Got to agree with you on this one! Saying that US milk differs in taste to the good old UK stuff anyway!! However it does mean i am unlikely to get a cup of tea for a week :( #howdoesabritcope!

  9. The website akcruz gave you was a great resource when I was planning. I didn't keep menus or compasses but I do have an allure 'guide' I compiled before I left as well as a spreadsheet where I put what time we were eating each day, where and what shows we wanted to see. That way when reservations opened up I wad able to book them all quickly. If you send me your email I will send you these documents!

Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk 2

Hi Em would it be possible to send these docs across to me too? if you add me ill send across my email - this would be a great help to aid planning :)

  10. Pmmaurer, thanks very much for your reply.

I have just sent Aquasafari and enquiry for our dates, the bit that makes me nervous is the timing...do they collect you from the port and drop you back? if we dock at 8am...is it normally early they collect you?

I see their discover scuba lasts around 4hrs....it would be good to have some additional time to shop in Cozumel if they drop you back early?

  11. We are considering adding the Soda package for our cruise (we are not huge drinkers) during our cruise on the Allure - Nov 30th.

My question is, do they refill your cup at any bar? or do you HAVE to go to those freestyle machines as mentioned in the cruise compass? (Sorrentos,Windjammer and Wipeout) Plus -

In addition - if these fountains are in the restaurants what is to stop anyone taking onboard a re-fillable mug and filling up at those machines at no cost??

The above statement isn't something i am looking to do, i just dont want to be "ripped off" as such....

  12. Me and the wife are wanting to go on a discover Scuba course during our stop in Cozumel. We see that RCI provides an excursion called Discover Scuba...We are trying to weigh up whether we should book the dive with go on dive with RCI or look to go on a privately ran excursion i.e Scubatony.

It appears that a non RCI dive, will likely give more dive time with the option of buying an extra tank.

My only concern is time! i am seriously paranoid about the ship leaving without us. i am sure people on cruises dive with their companies all the time and they are very good at ensuring guests are back at the ship on time...Does anyone have any experience with this?

Has anyone been on the discover scuba course with RCI in Cozumel? is it good/worth it? do you get enough dive time vs classroom time..

    Thanks
