Stayed at Marriott Lexington using rewards points in 2014 and arrived early Saturday evening for Sunday Breakaway departure. U.S. Open week so hotel was packed w tennis people. Asked for parking advice at the hotel. Concierge and baggage person pointed out that street parking is free on Sunday. So I parked across the street (48th?) and paid a parking meter a few hours worth to cover what remained of Saturday night. And that was that.
Well, not quite. I could see our car from the hotel room and have to admit that I peeked a couple of times during the night and first thing in the morning to make sure my aging Volvo was still there.

Thanks for the advice on this. The Breakaway entertainment was fantastic. How does the Liberty compare?

Planning September cruise to Bermuda. Had previous great experience on BA a few months ago but noticed RCCL Liberty will be replacing Explorer in '15 from Bayonne for NYC-Bermuda. BA is a little more expensive, but is a 7 days vs 5 for the Liberty. And I liked 3 days in port. Aside from price, what are some good reasons to go with RCCL?

I really liked 3 days in port. I felt like we just scratched the surface in terms of things to do. It helps that the ferry and bus system makes it easy to get around from King's Wharf.

The outdoor walkway on deck 7 of BA deserves mention. It is shorter than the Waterfront (it does not wrap around the aft) and you get real familiar with the lifeboats. But it is not nearly as crowded and there are no windbreak obstacles. Even better . . . No (ok a whole lot fewer) smokers. I paced it at about 410 yards. So if you lap the Waterfront and deck7 and then reverse each, you are at about 7 1/2 furlongs.
When I was on BA the casino smoke never really bothered me but the Waterfront smoke was noticeable and at times annoying if you were doing laps.

Cruising breakaway on Sunday but arriving in NYC on Saturday. Does it make sense to leave car at the breakaway lot a day early?

Oops. The street parking strategy won't help for anything longer than Saturday night!
