We are going to KL next month and we have a driver recommended from TripAdvisor booked in for our family. Way cheaper than the ship tour...

Awesome! What do you have planned for Langkawi? No one seems interested in the bridge lol. I would love to read your review when you get back. You picked a good first cruise!
Kim, My cruise isn't going to Langkawi
My cruise is going to all the other places though. Plus we are also going to Hong Kong after as well (except we are going to Disneyland)!

Thank you Kim! Your review was amazing!
I am going to HK as well after Singapore so everything in your review (except for Langkawi) was pretty much where we are going!
Good luck for your next adventure!
Will have to try and review my trip from a first time cruiser's perspective...may not be anywhere as detailed as yours though!

Thanks everyone!
I wasn't planning on doing much on board. Might order a cake (I have kids so therefore it's not a birthday unless you have cake!! :) ) but I am up for any ideas or recommendations.

(Similar post also in RC thread)
Hi everyone,
I'm going on my first ever cruise and turn 40 on embarkation day. Was thinking of having a family breakfast somewhere nice in Singapore before heading over to our cruise for embarkation (Mariner). Any suggestions as to where we can go?
Thanks,
-
Hi everyone,
I am going on my very first cruise shortly on Mariner of the Seas. Embarkation day will be my 40th birthday!!
My TA has checked and the RC people are apparently aware of this.
So my question is,
What can I do on the ship to celebrate?
Is it worth buying a bday package?
Also, I would love to have breakfast with my family somewhere nice in Singapore before boarding... If anyone has any suggestions as to where we can go that would be awesome.
Thanks,
-
Thanks so much!

How much is the bus, and is there a website link?
Thanks :)

Thanks cruiserinsg! Super excited about this trip...
:)
Wavesplasher, that looks like a fine idea, I don't think I will book any of the excursions the boat is offering, so this sounds like something we could do that isn't too full on (although my kids are fussy eaters , I would happily down a laksa!). Was looking at the hop on hop off bus as an option.

Thank you for that tip!!
Not sure where to look though...

Hi lalenalei,
We are doing the same cruise as you....can you send any info about the bike tour you are planning on doing in Phuket?
We are also 2A 2C and my girls are 9 and 6.
We are arriving Dec 27 and spending 2 nights pre cruise and then 7 nights post cruise in Singapore (and then we are going to Hong Kong).
We are actually thinking of hiring a driver for KL, as I think it will work out way cheaper, plus I want to do the caves and the Petronas Towers view, but not the other stuff so maybe we can come back quicker to the boat.
Have no idea what to do in Penang...from what I have read so far, unless you are a foodie doesn't seem like a lot there.
Following the replies as well...

Hi Kim,
I am really enjoying your review and photos of this cruise. We are from Australia and my family and I are going on the Dec 29 sailing. Wondering about the KL tour guide option as hiring a driver for the four of us (2 adults and 2 kids) may be cheaper than the RC Shore tour.
