I was on the Dream three weeks ago. I've posted a copy of the Funtimes in another thread if you're interested.
We had a great cruise with only one complaint. The MDR service is sloooow. We had "Your time dining" and our dinner each night was easily a two-hour affair. We missed the evening shows on a couple of nights. We finally gave up on the MDR and just ate the buffet.
Unless they've changed ....plan your evening accordingly.
Have fun on a great ship with a nice itinerary.

Glad to do it. Enjoy your cruise!

You're welcome.
I'd think it would be beneficial for Carnival to publish these on their website.....but I'm sure there is a reason they don't. It would certainly draw traffic to their website.

It's an easy walk from the pier...just stay on the beach the whole way. You can actually see it from the ship...provided another ship is not blocking your view.

Their website says they are "generally open when cruise ships are in port"....it doesn't stipulate only Carnival.

I've been twice but on Carnival both times.

We went to Almaplena last week and had a great time on a beautiful beach. All-inclusive beach day for $56 pp......I believe that's right. Transportation from the port is included.

Over the years I've gotten lots of useful info from this site....so glad I could reciprocate a bit.
Bon voyage.

Another vote for Nachi.
Upon arrival....we checked in and led down to our palapa. Within seconds Jorge arrived for drink orders. When he returned, and tipped him a ten-dollar bill as said "gracias Senor." Jorge stopped every ten minutes to ask if we were okay. He even came down with menus....told us he'd bring our food to the palapa or we could walk up to the tiki bar.
I had told the young lady earlier at check-in we wanted to return to the ship at 4pm. At 3:30....Jorge tells me...".I will come get you when your taxi arrives at 4pm."
Sure enough....taxi arrives at 4pm. I hand Jorge another $10 on the way out. He was so appreciative.
Re: the beach
There was a natural sand drop off of about a foot at the waters edge. It was no biggie but you have to watch for it or you'll stumble.
I could see Sanchos about a half-mile down the beach from us. I saw lots of beach toys, slides, kayaks, floats, etc. looked to be more suited to the younger crowd as opposed to someone that just wants to chill.

Interstate 16 out of Savannah, GA will be converted to westbound traffic only....in the next hour. I imagine some FL interstates will be converted to westbound as well.
I think you'd be hard-pressed to reach Port Canaveral due to traffic restrictions. In the hours after the storm....law enforcement will attempt to thwart the looters by limiting access to affected areas.
I just don't think that getting to Port Canaveral is logical or doable.
Stay safe ya'll.

Read the whole thread
You can be anything you want on the Internet....sad that some people choose to be a douche.

RV....we were in the Julia Street Parking Lot across from the cruise ship. I'm learning that it may have been the perfect storm of traffic and atypical of the area.
It was raining, there was a music festival in the French Quarter and two cruise ships departing at 4pm.
I commented to my wife that we probably wouldn't depart at 4pm as most of the passengers were sitting in traffic. Sure enough they announced we would leave later because they were "waiting on supplies."

Thanks LC...we are onboard. I just had to vent. We live equidistant between NO and Port Canaveral. We are typically NCL customers but may have to rethink that and sail Carnival out of PC.
-
I can see the NCL Dawn....but can't get to her.[emoji35]
2 hours to go 2.7 miles. Not a traffic cop in sight.
-
Never again will I depart the Port of NO.
Port traffic is a cluster...website directions are wrong. This port is in the absolute worst location.

Newbie poster and first time solo cruiser here... I grabbed a 7day western carib cruise on the Carnival Glory earlier this week for $209 ($340 w/taxes & fees) for an inside cabin, sailing on Sept 27. [emoji5]
So was the final price for a solo cabin $340 or was it double that? That is a heck of a deal!
Happy cruising.

Okay.....here's my dilemma.
I'm retired but wife is still working. I'm also a member of another forum which I won't mention...that alerts me when there are cruise bargains. Just last week there was a last-minute bargain on Carnival for a 4-day cruise for $149.
I'd love to jump on specials like this..,,but don't want to pay double for a solo cabin. So...are there any cruise clubs where groups of folks get-together and book these last minute deals?
Thx in advance.

Another vote for Nachi! It was one of the highlights of our cruise. Take care of your personal waiter (tips) and he will make sure you never get hungry or thirsty. If you want to rent any sailboats, snorkels, etc....always ask your waiter and he will make it happen.
About 30 minutes before you are ready to leave....tell your waiter and he will summon a taxi....and come and get you when it arrives.
Dream, etc question(s)...
