  1. My email was received directly from Royal Caribbean. It is a little different. Mine did not reference the new rooms at all.

    From RCI

    About your upcoming travels

In the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew, a devastating storm that affected the Bahamas, the country continues its recovery efforts. Our thoughts are with those affected by the storm.

Adventure of the Seas, the ship on which you’ve booked your vacation, is scheduled for renovation in Freeport, Bahamas during October and November. Due to extensive damage incurred at the shipyard and the global rerouting of cargo ships carrying equipment and materials, the original renovation plan has been modified.

    *

In an effort to create the least amount of disruption to your vacation plans, Adventure of the Seas will re-enter service on November 14th, 2016 as originally planned. Throughout the ship, you will notice an updated design and décor, as well as newly renovated areas such as Boleros Latin lounge and the two-story mini golf course.

Unfortunately, the following features will not be available for your cruise:

    *

    ·******** Dual Racer water slides

    ·******** FlowRider surf simulator

·******** Splashaway Bay kids’ aqua park

As part of the planned dining enhancements, Chops Grille will open early next year, while Izumi Japanese Cuisine will no longer be offered. In the meantime, Giovanni’s Table, already a guest-favorite onboard, will serve select Chops Grille menu items.

Please note that during your cruise you will see our teams continue their hard work to complete the ship’s new features.

In gratitude for your patience and understanding, we would like to offer you a 25% Future Cruise Credit based on the cruise fare paid. This certificate will be sent to your email address on file or mailed to your home. Please allow up to two weeks for all transactions to be processed.

We are committed to delivering the highest level of service and quality for which Royal Caribbean is known on your Adventure of the Seas vacation and we look forward to welcoming you onboard.

What was your cruise date? Was it in 2016?

  2. Thanks for this information. I will be following your itinerary in August. Can you tell me where the Roti King is so that we can partake in this as well. Thank you.

    ....is a Roti?

  3. We did the land and sea tour many years ago. It was beautiful. The second half was a catamaran that stopped right at the base of the Pitons. It was beautiful. On the bus part we stopped at Diamond Falls. It was raining, but the sun came out for a minute and it was gorgeous! I highly recommend it!

What tour company did you use for your land and sea tour?

  4. Best way to see the highlights of the island, including Pitons, volcano, etc, is with a land and sea tour. Barefoot Holidays, Serenity TVL, Solar Tours and Travel, Real St Lucia Tours, Herods, etc can all put this together for you. Land down the coast, spectacular views, etc volcano, waterfall, a little beach time and sea back for bat cave, lady slipper rock arch, Marigot Bay, etc.

For a first visit to the island, any tour that takes you to the Pitons is a must!

Will anyone of these tour groups put together a 'land and sea' tour for you? Need advice! Haven't been to St. Lucia, but will port there on a cruise, so I need to do it all in one day!

  5. I would definitely change agents! Mine is phenomenal and is happy to make any and all changes we request! She doesn't offer "perks" but I would rather have "efficient service with a smile" rather than "perks".

Do some agents offer 'perks'...had no idea. I guess it's against roll-call rules to give names of agents, so I won't ask. The one I have was referred by someone who used to be an agent. Not a good choice for us tho. Thanks for the reply!

  6. My sister is actually my agent so I just called her and she took care of it, but all she had to do was transfer our Celebrity booking to the Royal booking so no money was ever refunded, our deposit from Celebrity was just transferred to the deposit for Adventure.

From what my agent says, any change in transferring funds, changing ships, rooms, etc. takes tons of time and involving all kinds of things. Perhaps I should change agents or simply book myself! Thanks Packerfan.

  7. We will be on Adventure for the first time in February. We have been on several other ships with Royal but are very much looking forward to seeing Adventure for the first time. We love sailing out of Puerto Rico and it is just by chance that we are even on Adventure. We were actually booked on Celebrity Summit for a week in March and our cruise was chartered and what they were offering didn't work for us so we jumped over to Adventure instead.

If you have booked a cruise online or by phone and want to change, maybe even change ships, how do you do that? Another question:

we made plans with an agent, put down a hefty deposit, then changed our plans to another ship, so she still has our deposit. I would like to simply book my cruise online or with a RCC rep. Does that tie up our deposit with the agent, or how do they get that money back to you? How would I go about booking with RCC but getting my deposit back from the independent agent?

  8. Do they really have them? Can I find my ship and actually 'watch' what the camera is seeing, right now?? Independence Of The Seas. Oh, and has anyone ever stayed at the Embassy Suites in Ft. Lauderdale? Our son booked us there. Thanks everyone!

  9. You're going on a week cruise with a carryon and a backpack each? Wow, impressive. I take that much to go out to lunch. :D

Thanks for all of your helpful comments! I really appreciate the feed back. Don't know when I will get to cruise again, so I want all the help I can get! It will be way below zero when we board the plane at 5:10 am, but I will be dressed for warm weather. Can HARDLY WAIT!!

  10. Feeling dumb. What is this 311 bag that I see mentioned? Our son and daughter-in-law are taking us on an eastern Caribbean cruise in December. The more I read, the dumber I feel! One thing for sure...we're leaving northern MN. with a carry-on and backpack (each) Maybe I will 'bundle" as opposed to "role" our few clothes. What's everyone's take on that? THANKS!

  11. Has anyone used those little brown prescription bottles for liquid to carry on the plane? Are they 3 oz. bottles?. Perhaps a dumb question, but I've got a ton of them and I know they are leak-proof.

  12. I just read a review stating that: it is not true that gratuities are to be automatically paid. I think the review was written by a RCL cruiser. Does a person have an option? Would you have to pay the $25.00 a day, or is there another way to do this?
