  1. Hello All -

We are looking at cruising next May 2025 and I have been looking at the Terraza Cabana rooms. Anyone have experience staying in these rooms. Watched a few YouTube videos and the two  most common complaints were noise and walking traffic (from what I read its suppose to be a "locked area." Any feedback is appreciated.

Not the cabanas. They are still available.

    Two Questions -

How much are the Cabana's for that cruise? Just curious and I know it could fluctuate ship to ship. My other question, I have Vibe passes for a cruise in Jan 2024. If prior to our sailing I decided to get a Cabana instead, are the passes refundable or are they used towards the purchase of the cabana?

    Thanks in advance. Happy sailing

  3. Question regarding on how NCL books flights.

We are sailing Jan 2024 on Prima, so I understand their practice could change. Ship is scheduled to depart 4 pm Galveston time.

Will NCL book same day flights or fly us out the day before depending on flight schedules? Is there a cut off time as to when "its too late to arrive" at an airport etc.

I recently sailed Breakaway May 8-15 and it was my first cruise ever. I did not know what to expect when it came to sailing as a gay man. I was pleasantly surprised. Each night there was a LGBTQIA+ Get Together at Shakers Martini lounge. I was able to meet a lot of people and hangout with them for the duration of the cruise. It was awesome being able to walk into Bliss or Spice H20 and see familiar faces and party with people I made friends with earlier in the week. I still keep in touch with some of the people I met too.

NCL will definitely be my go to for my next trip which looks to possibly be the Encore in January 2023.

    Happy PRIDE! everyone!!

I am happy that you had a great first time cruise experience.

My husband and I have always felt welcomed on NCL. Granted we have only cruised CCL once but also have a good time.

My theory is cruises are generally very accepting. Everyone is there to have a good time and make memories.

Just off B2B2B Escape.  Unfortunately no Dinner with the Officers.  No Behind the Scenes, Wines Around the World Tasting or new (Diamond and Ambassador) perk Mixology Sustainable Class or whatever it is.

On Transatlantic, 3 Latitudes parties depending on deck.  Only 1510 passengers but just about everybody silver or above I guess.

On Greek Isles (only one day at sea, all ports), 1 party for everyone.  Drinks, cheeses, senior officers, musician, CN welcome & "pitch", nicely done.

Depending on latitudes level, $25 or $50 OBC per cabin as their loyalty gift in lieu of events.  The Latitudes letter says stop at the desk for a gift but does not specify what it is.

One of the best new things is we got a letter that first dinner voucher for 2 to be used at Cagney's or Le Bistro with wine.

The 2nd could be used at any specialty and was treated like SDP terms.

In either case, no more surcharge for entrees over $35.  NCL apparently listened to the negative feedback from loyal customers who would receive $1.40 or $2.60 type "bills" for their entree overage.

With the new specialty entrees, just about everything exceeds $35.  The printed vouchers still state up to $35 max but they say the next batch will read differently?!  In any event, the only things that would incur a surcharge would be the lobster ($25 surcharge with SDP) and some other items (e.g. Cagney's crab cake app) depending on venue.

Hi there - with the dinning voucher did you have any issues making reservations for either Cagney's or Le Bistro while on the ship?

We are sailing Jewel Jan 2023 and am curious if I can pre reserve our voucher or if I have to wait till we get on the ship. We only have one x SDP meal for our cruise so was looking forward to being able to enjoy a second venue.

    Thank you

  6. Hi Everyone -

After an extended away from cruising (Feb 2019 was our last cruise) we are returning Jan 2023 on NCL Jewel for Mexican Riviera.

Today I called and had our cruise rebooked since the current sale provided better benefits and cheaper rate and also had this rate code.

We have the LATREW and LATTITUDE promo codes on our booking, to clarify this will result in 2 points per night when we sale?

    Thanks for any information

Thank you for this post. I cancelled our Jan 2021 cruise on Friday 7/31 and was told 7-10 business days. Glad to hear that those cruises that were not in final payment status are refunding quickly.

    Stay safe.

Update. Our refund posted on our American Express card. Seven business days. Hoping those still waiting receive theirs promptly.

I am cruising a B2B on the Magic in April for my 50th Anniversary. It is April 5&11. We invited family to join us for the second leg, as we knew grandchildren would be out of school for Easter Break. As of now, only one son has booked, but I’m afraid they will cancel, as they have not paid for it yet, and haven’t booked any excursions. My question is, we are on YTD for first leg, since we are alone, and that’s our preferred choice, but have Early Dining for second leg , thinking it would be easier if 25+ family members booked. Can we get this Early dining changed to YTD if this son does cancel? And if so, how would I go about that?

If you sign into your booking, look for preferences and you can change from a set dining time to your time.

Definitely put them on as you leave your hotel for the port!

Just in case you do not have time to order/receive the plastic tags (or believe the size/shape of tags may change in the future):

I print the bagtags, fold as instructed then cover them in clear packing tape.  Use a hole punch to make a hole in the ends.  Then be sure to take a zip- (or cable-) tie to affix them to the suitcase the morning we cruise.

Ohh - good hack. I like it

I was looking into that lot last week for my cruise on Feb. 1st. Googled address and a photo of the lot came up and I couldn't locate either a website or phone number. I saw a flyer for the lot promoting the shuttle service at the lot and wanted to speak with someone there for my sail date. Nothing. Hope you have better luck.

Here is the parking information for the lot in question.

    https://www.parklb.com/parking-lotsgarages/downtown-parking/city-place-a-50-w-6th-st/

Also, as the email says, Carnival has secured parking at the Convention Center.

The Long Beach cruise ship terminal has recently opened another lot that is accessible via shuttle. It's cheaper than the structure at $12 a day. You drive your car there and park and a shuttle will be there to pick you up.

We are on the inaugural Panorama and was worried about parking (since it's 4000 people) but having the spill over lot has put our mind at ease.

Wanted to follow up if you remember/know where this lot is? Is it the convention parking that Carnival recently announced they secured?

    Thank you in advance.

Checking back on this thread.  For anyone who read it and took a West Coast cruise, how did everything turn out?  Did it match my review of it all?

    Thank you for the review.

We are leaving on Sunday 12/1/19, our first time on both CCL, we will be on the Imagination though. Very excited to try something new, we have been excursively on NCL in the past. NCL caters to solo travelers, I would scope them out for solo cruising.

Out of curiosity did any of your cruise friends bring up pier parking? My travel OCD is getting the best of me and I am anxious how parking at the pier will go. I know others have commented on threads that Carnival has diverted some parking to garages in Long Beach, and a recent thread indicating a new lot has opened up. I know in the long run it will be fine, but I like to plan ahead. Thanks in advance for any information you might have.

It was around 11 they let us in. We did get to go first as there are two lines. One for priority boarding (about 40 deep by the time they actually started letting us in) and another long line (about 100-150 people) for those arriving early/late. They let everyone in in that order. After quickly passing security you will stage for boarding with the platinum/diamond folks going into a lounge, FTTF staging just outside of it, and everyone else in a general area. Boarding actually began around 11:15-11:20 or so and was in the same order. You might save 15-20 min max. A lot of the same folks who lined up early boarded just after we did. They are on it in Long Beach and it moves quickly. Show up at 11 if you want to get on as soon as humanly possible, 11:30 if you just want to be able to stroll on through with less lines.

Thank you - I was thinking of getting there around 11:00 or 11:30.

We did it out of Long Beach and honestly, I don't really thinks it's necessary. The boarding is so fast for everyone now. Also the tenders move fast and unless you are ready to go before the first one, it won't matter much. I've heard Miami is now like Long Beach and moves really quickly. So it really depends on if you have a port heavy itinerary and plan to leave the ship right away and have to be first off. If you are booking excursions through carnival, it's not worth it. Also debarkation was still a cluster, even with FTTF. For me, it was not worth it in the end. I could have used that extra cash for gratuities or cheers/bubbles packages.

Do you recall what time you started boarding in Long Beach? I am considering purchasing. We have a check in time for noon.
