You might also try logging in with a different browser. I often have trouble adding things, changing things, paying for things, etc. when I’m using Safari, but it works in Chrome. If this wasn’t a freebie promotional booking, you should be able to add the HIA package to the booking, I would think.

Thx for the tip, I will try it!

Maybe he doesn't understand or can't be bothered! 🤷‍♂️

I see why you would think that but I've been with him for several years and know him as very knowledgeable and helpful.... so not sure what's going on here.

Hi Eurodolphin, I booked from Ireland using a US travel agent. Didn't add HIA at booking as it's a long way out but did so last week. I emailed the US TA and it appeared on the HAL website after 2 days. So, it can be added via the TA. Ken

Hi Ken, yes my TA is US based as well so I don't understand why he tells me this cannot be done 🥺

I feel your pain @eurodolphin as I currently have a booking that I cannot add it to.

I strongly encourage you to call HAL beverage department (it will be an option after you've selected "1 for current booking") as the app and website are very glitch and frequently not accurate.

Give them your booking number and tell them you want to add the HIA package. You will need to pay at that time, so just be ready for that.

Safe travels - enjoy your cruise!

Thanks for the info Haljo, I live in Belgium, can I call them from here? And also, will they be willing to help me since I booked through a TA and not directly with them?

Wishing you safe and enjoyable cruising as well!

  5. I talked to my TA, he said HIA is not an add on but a promo code you reserve at the time of booking.

So the only way I could possibly get is by canceling and rebooking, which of course I am not going to do 1 week before the cruise! Me on the other hand, I'm sure I've read some posts here that talk about adding it after booking. Very confused right now 🙃

  6. Hi everyone, did a search but could not find a clear answer.

We will be boarding the Nieuw Statendam on July 12th, very excited! At time of booking (only 2 months ago) we picked the cruise only fare.

We are now thinking of adding the Have it all package but when I go the the website or the Navigator app and I check the different packages that can be booked, the HIA package is there but I'm not able to click on it, put it in my cart or actually book and pay for it.

It does work when I want to add a beverage package or an internet package... Can anyone tell me if they had a similar experience or someone who knaws what could be the reason this isn't working? Thx

When I was on the Rotterdam in February there was a fix your own taco bar immediately outside the Dive In next to the Lido pool.   I don’t like “self serve” buffets but we did eat from it once when we came back starving from an excursion and the Lido was closed.

That"s what I was hoping for! Fingers crossed it will be there on the Nieuw Statendam in 2 weeks.

  8. Hi everyone, we will be sailing on the NS in July and are wondering if there is a taco bar?

I don't see it mentioned on the deckplans but searching these boards I found some "hints" of a taco bar on some ships.

The last time we cruised (RCL's Symphony of the seas) my husband just loved the taco bar as a go to place so hoping there is one on the NS as well.

    TIA.

Only this morning. From our previous experience with HAL it tends to be around 14/15 days prior to embarkation. As a personal service to you, I'll check out as many of the beers, wines & cocktails & report back🍻🍷🍹!

Ok, I see. Wel thanks, that is really kind of you! 😄 Have a great cruise!

We’re boarding in Copenhagen on July 2nd & have been allocated 12:20, group E. This is far better than our HAL cruise in March when our time was 15:40 & group L! (Obviously we ignored that & turned up at 1:15 & went straight onboard!)

When did you get your allocated time and group. We'll be on the sailing after yours (July 12th) and haven't received it yet. TIA

Me too , VCL is a great space on the older ships, especially if you want somewhere quite to draw, read or play cards out of the sun or bad weather

Yes exactly! I just hoped, bigger ship, bigger VCL 😅 Well I guess not.  But that is not going to keep me from having a great time. I will find these spots with an oceanview thanks to all the interesting tips I got here!

Thanks for that info.  Hope we get the better weather this time.  If you see me with my tall blond wife, young daughter and even younger two sons you’ll know who this is.  We are very excited and looking forward to an adventure.  Safe travels on your journey to the ship.

Thar's what we are hoping as well. We'll keep an eye our for you and your family. I am really tall as well, not blond though but lots of grey curls 😉 travelling with my husband. Would be nice to meet you. It will be an adventure indeed! Wishing you safe travels to Miami as well.

  13. We have done 4 eastbound TA's so far, all were in March and early April. 3 of them had calm seas and  fantastic weather. Pools were used the entire cruise and never needed long sleeves clothing.  The 4th one was completely different. 2 first days after leaving Florida were fine but after that the captain changed our course because of a major storm and we had very rocky seas, wind, rain and temperatures in the low 60's for the rest of the cruise. All these crossings took the southern route, ending in Spain or Italy.

Tons of spots, you just have to explore and find them.  For instance, right in front of the Solarium entrance on deck 15 is a protected row of loungers right in front of glass.  Also the lower level of Solarium on deck 14 where the glass wings are is very well protected and enclosed, go down there, everyone else will be on deck 15 .  Also on Deck 15 Solarium Bistro is always available for a table to read or such.  In Windjammer, we play cards a lot any time of day.

Well thank you so much! I will most certainly go and explore, enough time to do so with 9 consecutive seadays!

Bring a coat to the solarium and remember it may be warmer when the sun is out.  So you may find it perfect.   Honestly, oasis class doesn’t do well in outward looking areas.  It is definitely more inward looking.

It would likely be the breeze that makes it more cold, so maybe find a spot that isn’t so breezy.  There will be many around the ship and they’ll be that way consistently for days in a row.  So search for a good sunny spot like that perhaps.

When the weather is nice the spot behind the flowrider bar is a top notch view.  Not sure on wind/weather from that spot however.  First couple days should be plenty warm.

Thise are great tips, thank you!
