  1. I received an allowance for airfare from my TA. It was $800 pp and when I booked the original airfare in January, it covered Business Class to Montreal and Premium Economy from there to Rome. No further funds out of pocket.

They simply changed my flight and Business was already sold out on the earlier flight. They have NO Premium Economy on that first flight. BUT, they also took away my Premium Economy on flight to Rome... my TA was able to reinstate that with a pair of new seats.

Bottom line... it was not handled well. Both Air Canada and EZAir failed.

  2. Air Canada kept changing flight times to my first leg of trip to Rome. I booked on January 18th with EZAir as Premium Economy. At the time, they gave us Business class seat reservations since they did NOT have Premium Economy on that flight. Five times they changed flight times until they finally changed arrival in Montreal AFTER our flight to Rome had left. So, the changed us to an earlier flight. (Sounds good, right?) HOWEVER, they took us out of Business class and they do not book seats in regular Economy until 24 hours before flight. So, not only would we have to pay an extra $50 out of pocket to reserve seats, but with an almost 5 hour layover, we don't automatically get to use the Lounge. They also removed ou Premium Economy on the Rome flight, which I was able to re-instate.

Unfortunately, I spoke to someone at EZAir who was completely inept and not helpful. (Just venting for a moment folks!) Will make the best of it but not the way I wanted to start this vacation.

You can fake it by entering a valid date.  And then erase/abandon it later.

    Steeler36,

You seem to be on the ball with some details.

Do we need to do the "ArriveCan" app if we merely change planes in Montreal? It appears that we simply go from one wing of the terminal to another to get our flight out of the country.

PS... Last time I saw Steeler 36 was at 3Rivers, We did see Franco at Philly airport.

  4. This morning the web pages are "updated" but still not completely understandable.

Guests sailing on voyages 16 nights or longer, or sailing on full Panama Canal transits, trans-ocean and other specific itineraries, need to take a supervised test within three days of embarkation (guests 5 and older). Guests on these types of voyages will be contacted directly by an Ocean Navigator to assist.

    And it also says;

Unvaccinated guests, or those who do not provide proof of vaccination, on those itineraries will self-test within three days of sailing and upload proof of a negative test on the MedallionClass® app before boarding.

Note that it does NOT say that unvaccinated guests need a SUPERVISED test.

I guess we just have to wait and see what the next Princess update says.

  5. Princess (Carnival Corp) posts their EZ Air rates 300 days before a cruise. Carnival Cruises are probably the same.

EZ Air has always been the best deal for me. Can change Flexible EZ Air fares up until 45 days before the cruise. (Our transatlantic last year dropped $400 a few months before the deadline.) You can change flights, times, days etc at no cost and money is refundable...

AND payment is usually due for your air 45 days before the cruise! (Your mileage may vary.)

    • Thanks 1
  6. Make certain that you check Princess EZ Air when available (300 days out or so). Can cancel or change up to 45 days out and pay at THAT TIME.

They are a consolidator and usually beat all other prices. The guarantees to get you there on time are also nice!

You also can choose economy, premium economy, first class and connecting airports if needed. The number of stops, the flexibility, and the time that you will kill at the airport are all there. Then you contact your airline to select seats.

Has consistently been easier that using ITA Matrix (Google for travel agents) and any or all commercial websites.

  7. To answer the question....

The upper part of the lanyard is a closed loop with a plastic connector to the bottom part. The Medallion is inside a plastic holder as seen in the photos.

Since our Regal cruise just after Thanksgiving was still a test run, they issued both our Ruby card along with a blue encased blue Medallion on a gray lanyard that said Medallion which confused loads of folks. Our Ruby card was in  clear plastic holder. The reason that we received both was that they only had 110 Medallion cabins for that cruise and actually used both to guarantee that they all worked while allowing a fallback to the plastic cards. During the week long cruise, we saw numerous cabins near ours with mailboxes when we went to a meal and returned and noticed the tablets in their place.

My best guess is that the "Medallion Desk" is in different places on different ships. Don't worry, you'll find it. You'll also find the bracelets and other stuff fairly expensive...$$$.

  8. We used EZ-Air returning from TA cruise in April (yes, one way despite being told that "They don't do that!")

We flew Business Class from London to Toronto on Air Canada - I've been flying more than 50 years and the 787-8 was marvelous; the best flight ever. Two rows of Business Class with bulkhead leg room of about 32" (yes, 32").

From Toronto to Vegas was Air Canada Rouge. Still Business Class but not as posh as previous flight. Certainly acceptable but were not far from any ordinary US carrier flight.

  9. Onboard the Regal last month, we were given lanyards with Medallions (110 cabins ready at Sail-Away, but door mailboxes were disappearing during the cruise and replaced with the tablets).

I believe that all the "jewelry" or bracelets and such were for sale on floors five or six. And yes, they were not inexpensive... They actually had a person there to answer questions and take your money.

  10. We were supposed to get Medallions on our Royal TA in April - told not ready for Prime Time. Now booked on Regal for November and were notified that OUR cabin is an ***** ready cabin. Princess also stated that there is now a note on our records to not move us unless they ask first because of the *****.

This infers that some cabins on the Regal will be ready - how much of the other parts of the ship, no way to tell. (Will your waiter be able to deliver a previously ordered drink while you are in the theater????)

I'd like to understand what part of the technology is causing the problem.

  11. We are doing a TA in May and want to return home to Vegas from England. Any clever suggestions of flying from "somewhere" other than London to reduce the ridiculous fares on major carriers in May?

I've read the reviews of Norwegian Air Shuttle (even with Premium seats) and they seem to say that you will be lucky to takeoff on the correct day. I'm game to fly to LAX if that works better.
