  1. I totally agree that there is nothing like independent land travel. Some of our best trips in the past we have flown to a large city in Europe and stayed in that city a week or so, then rented a car and driven to small towns and stayed in inexpensive gites, inns, etc. I also like cruising (on Oceania) for the simplicity and relaxation which you will never find on independent land trips unless you just plop yourselves down at a resort. Both are nice and if you are fortunate you can do both at some time(s) in your life:)

  2. Great suggestions!!

We will look into the Marriott option, however we are not members so that may not be workable. Is there a great relaxing restaurant where we can enjoy a long lunch within walking distance to the Luggage Lounge, perhaps with a view or great people watching that anyone can recommend?

O doesn't offer the HOHO option on this cruise unfortunately.

    Thanks, all!!

  3. Is there a quiet place to enjoy that won't be too hectic? We will have manageable luggage. A place we can perhaps park with it and take turns walking around..?? I can't find much on day passes and we won't have that much time anyway since we will need to head to tha airport around 2. Also not sure we would want to leave our luggage somewhere unless it is convenient really secure.

    Thanks for any suggestions!

  4. Aw now don't give us southerners a bad rap. When traveling internationally or on a cruise such as this one, I hesitate to say we're from South Carolina because of preconceived notions like this!  We would have been happy to share a table with you! If you didn't hold it over us for being southern that is :classic_cool:

  5. This is just the type info and perspectives I was looking for. I'm marking this thread to refer to before our next cruise:)

As side note, I did call another TA who probably does more volume than the one our booking is with, and bottom line she could offer us $200. It is past the time frame that we can transfer the booking (according to her) which is a good reason to maintain control of the booking until we do our research (thanks Ken the CC).

Pinotlover, I get your points as well, gotta find that good fit.

You would think by this our fourth Oceania sailing we would've figured it out by now.

  6. My agent has offered NOTHING!

Thanks for that explanation. I guess I assumed that if they are a Connoisseur club member, they would offer something as an incentive to use them again which I thought that was what the CC Club is for. I definitely need to shop for another agent. I guess I could argue the point with her, but I don't want to sound like I'm begging lol. But this is for sure our last booking with her.

I wish the agent onboard had just booked the cruise and let me tell O later who to transfer the booking to after I shopped around.

    Lesson learned.

  7. Such as include tips, etc? We booked a future cruise onboard Insignia back in August. Oceania rep told me that they would send our agent the booking and the agent would add perks. Agent now says there are no perks on this cruise. Obviously I choose the wrong agent although she is a preferred agent. Its irritating because I would have shopped around had I known perks were not offered.
