  1. We are sailing to Alaska on the Infinity on July 1 with our son, his significant other and their baby daughter. We are all in the BC area so we will be travelling to the port by car and parking the car at the Pan Pacific for the duration. We have two veranda cabins reserved but not side by side. Please help us with any tips such as what to pack, what we can do the the child on the ship, can the child eat in the dining room, what is the cost of babysitting, what kind of stroller should we bring etc etc etc?

We will be grateful to you for sharing experiences and providing tips.

  2. Your best bet for cheap but secure parking is either airport long-term parking then SkyTrain into town (drop bags and passengers first then go park the car to avoid the hassle of schlepping bags), or a hotel+parking deal (most of these are out in the burbs with a shuttle to downtown included) - downtown Vancouver is pricey for parking all over.

With an Ontario location on your profile, it seems likely that you're flying in so it's a rental car? If that is indeed the case, the cheapest thing would of course be to return the car and not pay for parking or renting it while you're cruising...if you need another car after the cruise, it'll cost you less to rent another downtown anyway (YVR has pretty steep extra fees on rentals, and they apply every day adding over 20% to airport rental rates).

Actually we are being picked up by my son who lives in Maple Ridge on June 28. We are then cruising together and will be leaving his car near the pier on July 1. But thanks for your thoughts and we are from Ontario.:):):):)

  3. While there is a suggested retail price at all of the specialty restaurants, you can negotiate on the MSRP. We returned recently from a cruise on the Silhouette and were able to get reduced pricing at the two specialty restaurants where we chose to dine. If you don't ask, you don't get.

  4. I have had this problem for over a week While Celebrity has tried to give me a work around, it hasn't worked. We are sailing next Sunday. I'm not going to complain, I simply wanted to register my comment. The luggage tags that were ordered over too weeks ago haven't arrived. While they are a nice touch they are not necessary. However these nuisances become a reflection on Celebrity and RCI.

  5. I have been trying to log into my reservation and I get the following message:

The system is currently unable to handle your request for retrieving your reservation.

This has been occurring for a week. The folks at Celebrity can't help other than try to getting into my reservation through the back door. But it didn't work.

I wanted to check the shore excursions but too frustrating and waste of time.

Have other cruisers encountered this problem?

  6. I checked my account today and saw a balance owing greater than it should be. My analysis was that the Celebrity money gremlin decided to double charges taxes paid with the Choice Air airfare and include the taxes a second time on the statement of account which I periodically review online.

I don't understand how this change in my account occurred because I booked Choice Air on March 27 and my account was in order until today. I called Celebrity to advise them of the apparent error and was told that this was a systems problem and the balance would be rectified. I'm not dumping on Celebrity but keep your hands out of my pockets.
