  1. I agree, if the price is the same, then RCI is the way to go. BUT...you need to be sure you're pricing an Ocean View balcony...and not a Boardwalk or Central Park balcony, to compare "apples to apples"!

Pride's standard balcony cabins are 185 sq. ft., where Allure's standard OV balcony is 162 sq. ft.... but Anthem has balcony cabins that are a bit larger than Prides....

It's definitely an ocean view on the Allure. The only thing that had us thinking about the Pride was that we would be on the ship over christmas. But, the food and activities on the ship is more important than that.

  2. So my wife and I are booking a cruise for this December. We want to drive to the port to save some money, so our choices are Cape Liberty and Baltimore. We're looking at the 7 day on the Allure or the 8 day on the Carnival Pride. Both cruises are about the same price for a balcony and have roughly the same stops. The Pride has one more but it's in South Carolina and we're not really interested in seeing it.

We've never been on a ship the size of the Allure and are leaning towards that one. A big thing for us is the food. We're both vegetarians and sometimes the options on cruises can be slim. If anyone out there has been on both ships, we would love to hear your feedback. Thanks!!

  3. This is one subject that I was wondering when it would appear.

I do not cross dress and have always been amazed by those that do....and not in a costume clownish way...but serious down to the finest detail. I have seen on Atlantis and RSVP cruises the outlandish over the top outfits and garrish make up, but not the pass for the opposite gender serious dresser.

Although I do not understand it and its not mine to undersatnd, I gotta give credit to those that venture out into public....that takes big ----.

Einsam....will look for you on the Rio cruise...from your description I guess you will be easy to spot. Will you be going for the Evita look....I would think there will be a few other passengers dressing in this fashion, or for those of us of another generation....Carmen Miranda....

All I can say is have fun and enjoy.

The one thing that escapes me is that with all the gay charters and specialty cruises annually, no tour company has ever scheduled a cross dressing cruise. With all the open and closeted cross dressers, you would think you could fill up a charter. Even makeup companies could provide classes, product consignments etc. Heaven knows it would provide freedom for a week to those whose hobbies or way of life centers around cross dressing.

Imagine the competition on board......Alexis and Crystal duke it out with hair, nails, or gowns........what fun for the passengers.

TO THOSE THAT DO.....ENJOY, FOR LIFE IS ALL TOO SHORT

I'm actually surprised that hasn't been done. I've done makeup classes for groups of crossdressers on how to hide beard shadow and achieving a natural look and they were the most appreciative group I ever was hired by. I think a charter cruise for them would be very well attended. The only thing I would wonder about is what the law are on the various islands. Some of them can be pretty backwards.

  4. It's not on the menu but you can ask for a veggie burger, I had several on Pride from Guys in October. The best veggie burgers I've ever had. They cook them in the back for you it takes a few minutes it well worth it.

Thanks for the info! It seems the pride has some decent vegetarian options. We went on the ncl dawn last may and actually lost weight because we couldnt eat a lot of what they had. Even the salads had meat in them.

  5. Bermuda was really nice. Really expensive though. We went to the bar one night in the port area and I had a couple of beers and my wife had a cider, the bill was almost $50! The only issue we encountered on the island was in that bar. We had some creepy local guys hitting on us who just wouldn't accept the fact that we are lesbians. They were saying things like "you just need a real man", luckily there were a couple of officers from the ship who stepped in between us and walked back to the ship with us.

  6. We had fun even though certain aspects of the cruise were awful. Food was the worst I've ever had on a cruise and the service was really bad. We made the best of it though. We wont be sailing on the Dawn again. We're going to give NCL one more try. We booked a cruise over xmas out of NYC on the Breakaway.

  7. Hope the trip got better?

The food was a never ending problem on the ship. We went to Bamboo on the 3rd night. They were pretty accommodating by making some of the stuff without meat. When we went back on the 5th night, the opposite happened and the waiter told us that everything was cooked with chicken stock and nothing was vegetarian.

When we went back to the blue lagoon on another night, it was another comedy of errors with the order being totally wrong and all we ordered was grilled cheese sandwiches.

It was the first cruise that I actually looked forward to getting off of.

  8. I had high hopes when going on the Dawn, I sailed her a couple of times before and was happy. This time though was different. It started fine, we got to the port around 2pm and breezed through, no lines and our room was ready when we got onboard. We went to the front desk and setup our cash account with $1000. First night, we ate in the buffet and was a bit disappointed with the food. We're vegetarians so we try to understand that they don't cater to us. That night we went to the casino, it was crowded as expected and we made it an early night.

    Day two;

We had breakfast in the buffet, lines were long and we were able to find something to eat pretty easily(we do dairy). When we got back to the cabin, there was a note on the door saying we needed to setup our cash account. We went down and there was no record of us ever giving them the money. Luckily I still had the paper I signed, but the process took almost an hour and the front desk person kept on disappearing into the back room for 10-15 minutes at a time without updating us. Finally it gets done and we go to get a coffee. We wait for coffee for about 20 minutes because the kept on taking people who got there before us and I order a hot cappuccino. They tell me that there is no hot drinks, so we order iced. The guy goes to the espresso machine and does the shots of espresso for the iced drinks. The shots are hot and he puts them over ice. I didnt feel like arguing so we hand them our cards to pay. Both cards are deactivated! We have to go back to the front desk for another 30 minute ordeal to get them reactivated and make sure the cash account is all set. After that we go back to the room and nap until dinner. We go to the buffet and they dont have a salad bar but they have a bunch of pre-made salads, all with meat or fish in them. Staff wont make a salad for us without meat. We ended up eating pizza and french fries.

We do some bar hopping later that night and decide to go to the Blue Lagoon for a snack. I order a the panini without the meat, it took 4 tries to get it right. The first one they sent was two pieces of bread with a tomato on it. The second had meat. The third only had pesto. They semi got it right the fourth time so I ate it. We then went to bed and discovered that we were directly under the kitchen in the buffet, not a good sleep.

I'll write more later...... got to go back to work.
