  1. Was it Fatties? We just got back from Old San Juan and ate there, sounds like it! Slightly off the beaten path, delicious! Several of the locals that owned gift shops recommended it to us, that's one of the places they prefer to eat. Hope that helps!

  2. We always bring some sweets with us (think Halloween size candy). We like to share it with our Cabin Steward. We leave them a couple three dollars each day along with some Snickers, M&Ms, Milky Way, etc.. I don't know if they have access to our American candy and we really just like to share it with them.

Do you hand the items to the steward or leave them for them in the room? I've tried leaving stuff for them before and they don't take them. Should I leave a note? Sometimes we don't see them in person everyday and I'm wondering how to let them know they should take something. Even at hotels I've left notes with stuff, but they may not speak English, so they don't take them! I was planning to take a few things like you suggested, how should I handle that? Thanks in advance!

  3. I would love to do that, but I just about had a panic attack reading your post! It takes a ton of effort for me to pack light in one large suitcase! In fact, I'm stressing bc my friends and I are wanting to travel together to the port and not take 2 cars so I am seriously going to have to control my packing this time, Eeek! I dream of being that person that could just take a carry on!

  4. I don't know how old this is, but here's a website with all the Carnival drink menus...

    http://www.cruisewithgambee.com/carnival-cruise-drink-prices/

Looks like $1.95 per soda can + 15% gratuity added to all drinks. Although I think most other cruise lines are up to $2.50 per can now so Carnival might be higher by now.

I can't personally attest to refills in the MDR, but I think I've seen others say they're not free.

    Don't know about the water.

Thank you for the info! I was kind of shocked to hear that they charge for sodas! We went on a Disney cruise last year and they had soda fountains everywhere (I'm sure we paid for it in the front end, but it wasn't an add on)...you can even take your own cup from home and fill them up during the cruise! We booked a carnival cruise in October and I never thought about paying for the sodas! I can't wait for the cruise! And I guess we will just pay per drink because I don't think we will drink that many anyway, we are water people for the most part!

  5. We just returned from a trip to San Juan (not a cruise) on September 1st, we used our phones to text and make calls the entire time with no extra charges! We have iPhones through Verizon. I even sent picture texts without any issues at all. Cell service was spotty, but I found plenty of spots where it was good enough to call my kids back at home.
