Kinghw, your post reminded me to take a look…and just now I see that there are 3-4 shore excursions listed for each day in Zanzibar.  (Although none yet for the added call to Dar Es Salaam).  Since we haven’t been contacted yet about the specifics for what we had originally planned in Mombasa, I’m guessing they’re still in the midst of getting it all set up, adding things as they go.  If I can get a better answer from Destinations or the Square, I’ll post.

Thanks for the reply, shark b8. I checked the Source app and see the new itinerary with the excursions. Website still shows the original. Looks like progress!

  2. Hello to all the folks on board tickling us with great pictures, videos, and posts. We'll be joining next week for the leg from Victoria to Cape Town. Any clue yet from SB about new excursions from the extended stay in Zanzibar and the new stop in Dar-es-Salaam?

We sadly had to cancel a private overnight trip to Tsavo East from Mombasa, such is life, but hoping something as interesting will spring from the new plan. All the best,

Are there English speaking tours available at the port?

is it safe to walk around town without a guide?

We are waitlisted on a ship tour but I’m wondering about backup plans if we don’t get on that tour.

We had a nice day excursion from the Oceania Marina while docked in Cabo Verde in April 2017. The price then for a private tour for 8 of us was 60 euro/pp. The tour included a walking tour of Mindelo followed by a drive round the island and a stop for lunch at a private home. It was about 7-8 hours if I recall correctly. I've attached their tour description. Vista Verde tours.

  4. Well, I certainly hope you get a more recent experience, but I can tell you that my wife and I were on this line in 2008 and had a pleasant enough time. We rode the reverse route from Marrakech through Casablanca and on to Fez. First class tickets, compartment clean and comfortable and service was on time. No problems or issues I can recall whatsoever.

Looking at a January 24, 2023 cruise on Azamara Pursuit in South America.  The itinerary lists the ship ad docked in Port Stanley.  I thought this was a tender port.  We missed the port back in 2007 due to bad weather and not being able to tender.

‘’is the ability to dock something new.?

We visited Port Stanley on the Pursuit in Jan 2019. Via tender.

  6. Hi Ron:

I'm on your cruise Dubai-Athens next April. Another option might be to request Azamara if you could disembark in Heraklion on the last full day of the cruise. There are afternoon and evening "puddle-jumper" flights from Heraklion to Athens, which would allow you to enjoy the day in Crete and get to Athens airport the night before your Tel Aviv connection. To me, trading the last night on Journey for an extra day in Israel would be worth it.

  7. We're sailing tomorrow on Marina on an extended TA (21 days Miami-Lisbon). We booked a guarantee cat C last August. It's our 4th cruise on O and 1st time we've booked a GTY. Not an upgrade strategy for us, we'd be quite happy with what we booked.

For the past couple months all stateroom categories have been indicated as wait list only for our cruise, so I think it will sail near capacity.

We received and turned down an upsell offer (to an A1 stateroom) from O through our TA a couple weeks ago. Yesterday O assigned us to an A1, so it appears we have a happy ending. Not at all sure how common this experience is these days, but thought I'd share our data point.
