Most cabanas are on South Beach, except YC of course. Chairs are free, rent umbrellas. We saw lots of people snorkeling under the bridge that goes over to YC, they said they were seeing lots of fish. We did see a shark from our ocean facing balcony while docked there. There is lots of sea grass, or was when we were there, we had cabana 25, right by the bar. We bought inflatable rafts off Amazon and floated right over the grass, there’s no way I would put my feet in it.

  2. We had Aft 6498 last month. Loved the huge balcony, and the room also had lots of space. The only draw back, we were above the Burgandy Lounge. Most nights it's the Comedy shows, but when Karaoke is going on, and there was something else in there, it was extremely loud, mostly bass beats. Loved having my own lounger on the balcony. Could lay out there at night and star gaze.

  3. We were just there last month. Took the water taxi over to Great Bay, lots of shopping, restaurants, and we rented 2 beach chairs w/2 umbrellas for $15. You can get buckets of beer (5 beers) for $10. We did not find it to be polluted at all. Not rocky or full of shells, I'm very picky about walking into the water, if there is sea grass no way...lol And there was none...yay We also got free wi-fi, and was able to FaceTime our kids. For a close beach, this is well worth it IMO.ImageUploadedByForums1392855152.773563.jpg.5db110dc13a78ad65f4d6913394dbe18.jpg

  4. Per the GoCCL website they do not connect. It shows 6492 connecting to no cabins at all and 6494 connecting to 6496. I have the aft extended booked next to the port side aft wrap on deck 9 and there is a solid steel wall there between the 2 cabins. There is also a warning on the Cruisedeckplans site that the aft cabins on deck 6 will get quite a bit of noise late at night from the lounge below them. Unless you are night owls you might want to go up a deck.

You are correct, they won't open. My aunt and uncle just had 6496, and we had 6498, there was the steel wall between us. The partition opened on their other side, which would be 6494. If you can book a room one floor up it would be better, as we heard noise from the Burgandy Lounge below us.

  5. We were just on the Dream this past week. We had aft balcony 6498, large balcony with 2 chairs that had reclining backs, a small side table, and the big surprise...a lounger. The room and balcony were both larger than cabin 6496 (my aunt and uncle had this one), I guess because it's in the middle. All the floor plans say they are sized the same, but ours was bigger. If I were to book another aft balcony on this ship, I would go up a floor to 7. Our cabin was above the Burgundy Lounge, which could be noisy some nights. So whichever ship you book, make sure you know what is above and below you. We had read we wouldn't hear much noise from the lounge, guess whomever had it before wore earplugs....lol

  6. We just did Park and Cruise, and like previous poster said, no problem getting you to ship, but make sure you are not on a tight time schedule when returning. We had zone 5 for disembarking, when we got to the shuttle we were the only ones there (4 of us). So we got on, a few minutes later another shuttle pulled up, so we thought we would leave, no we waited for like 10 minutes, 1 other man got on...that's it. So we left, and went to Disney to see if anyone needed picked up, it was crazy over there, waited forever at a gate just to pull up to the sidewalk, finally a family got on so we could leave. When we got back, they dropped us off in the wet black gravel, luckily our car wasn't to far, but I did not like pulling our bags through that. They should drop you off, let you get your car, then unload luggage back on the pavement...just my opinion.

  7. A couple of things.

First of all, I live here in the port. Literally. My house is a block south of the south entrance. I get to hear the ship's horns everyday (love the Disney horn battles). Anyway, I wanted to tell you I won a trivia contest a few weeks ago and was given tickets to the new Exploration tower at the port. If you don't know what it is, it is a new 7 story tower in the shape of a sail with an observation deck and each story has displays (some interactive) on the history and current status of the Space Coast. It has everything from wildlife information and history of the port itself to displays on our surfing culture and the Kennedy Space Center. There are fantastic views of the ships in port and the VAB from the northern observation deck.

Second, the Port Canaveral Facebook page is about to hit 7000 "likes". When they do, they will be having some giveaways. Their page is: https://www.facebook.com/portcanaveral . I do not work for them or at the port. I am a stay at home wife, but I do love my home and encourage anyone when you are in town to visit the tower (or yummy restaurants at the port) before or after your cruise.

    Happy Sailing!

Thanks for sharing. We just sailed on the Dream, and yesterday morning when we came back into port ( before the fog), we were trying to figure out what that was. Now I can tell my husband what it actually is...lol

  8. Maybe Seuss won't be fleet wide? I could see them doing something on ships that cruise out of Port Canaveral. Could be something with Universal Studios, kinda like Disney and their cruiseline. I like the whimsy of Seuss and his stories....

  9. What about ports, when she gets off the ship and needs to get back on, they check your sign and sail and a picture ID. I guess if she takes the expired, they probably don't check dates just the picture. Good luck hope it all works out for you.

  10. Well, since I am bringing along 2 college students, we don't really have a choice on the dates.

I wonder how often the Dream misses Roatan? Just in Jan or throughout the year?

On our 2010 Legend cruise, we docked at Coxen Hole, because it was too windy to go to Mahogany. The shopkeepers were rushing around to open all the stores, as they were switching everything to Mahogany Bay most were already empty.

  11. Most ships now have an Internet Cafe, but they are quite expensive. They have packages where you purchase multiple minutes, but for single minute by minute, I think it's like .75 cents per minute.

  12. I don't think I would bring the yogurt, the mini fridge doesn't get get very cold. I think they would spoil. The bars would be fine, since they are wrapped. I'm sure you will be able to find plenty of healthy proteins at the buffet. Happy Sailing!

  13. We were able to open the partition between the aft wrap and the extended balcony next to us even though the deck plans said it couldn't be done!

Best. Balcony. Ever. :) Ask your room stewart as soon as you go to your cabin!

We will definitely ask for it to be opened, and also ask him about getting a lounger. Asking never hurts anything....

  14. On our recent cruise on Sensation, DS(13) wasn't feeling well. He came to MD, but needed to leave. We asked if we could take him a plate back, and they said they no longer allow this, not even WCMC without ice cream. Our head waiter was very apologetic, and suggested maybe we go to the buffet to get him something. Maybe people are stealing the China...lol Was no big deal for DS, he was content on having pizza, which was what probably made him feel bad to begin with...he ate a lot of it on this trip....lol

  15. We were on Empress Deck. We had several cabins booked next to each other. We opened all the dividers so we had one large deck. The only cabin that had a lounge chair was the wrap. The others had two chairs and a table. The chairs did have reclining backs.

Glad to read you can open which ever side you want. MikeM's post is very detailed, and had me worried, because his list showed we wouldn't be able to open the divider between the two us. Oh we'll about the loungers, I'll make do without one. At least one has a reclining back. And from looking at pics, looks like there are ample loungers out on the other decks. Thanks for both of you responses :)

  16. We're booked in one of these cabins for our upcoming Jan. cruise. My husbands aunt and uncle have the cabin next to ours. Does anyone know if the divider between the two balconies can be opened? Also wondering if they have a lounger on these balconies? We're on the Upper deck, does anyone know if the Burgundy Lounge below will be bothersome? Any info is greatly appreciated. I asked these ?'s in the Cabin Selection Tips forum, but got no responses. Thanks:D

  17. 29 more days really want to hear about the ship

We were on her Sept. 29-Oct 3. We had a great cruise. Booked Grand Suite U107. Room was huge, walk in closet, tons of drawer space, jacuzzi tub, nice balcony w/3 chairs and a small table. The ship was very clean. Staff was always friendly and smiling. We did ATD. First night there was the usual line, but moved very quick, which was good. The rest of the nights, no wait. They did sit us at the same table, which was nice, you got to know your dining team. Food was good, not to slow. WCMC awesome as always :D Went to the family comedy show, the comedian was very funny. Would recommend going. We did brunch of our sea day. It was very good also, my mother-in-law had the eggs w/filet mignon, and said it was the best thing she had eaten while onboard. We did the Adult Serenity area while in Freeport, basically had it to ourselves. Hot tubs back there are very hot. Music up on Lido was very loud, techno like. Did not enjoy that, you could barely hear yourself think...lol We did the mini golf, you might want to bring the little note pad from your cabin if you want keep score, was no score cards up there. We are past guest, so we had a coupon for a free drink, it says you can get it in the dining room w/ brunch or lunch. We took it to The Touch of Class piano bar, and they made us our drinks in there. I had the Hurricane Wave, loved it. When eating in the buffet for breakfast or lunch, we designated the outside eating area at the aft of the ship, it overlooked the Serenity area, as our eating spot, that way we always knew where everyone was. It was nice out there, and not crowded at all. WE did roomservice every morning, just put the card out the night before. Always on time, and our order was correct. We just tipped $2 each morning. The ocean was so smooth on this sailing, at times it was like we were on a lake. If you have any other ?'s just ask, I'll try to answer the best I can. I did bring home my Fun Times, so if there is something specific you would like to know ask away. ;)
