  1. Will be in YC on the Seaside in June.  This will be our 3rd YC cruise in 4 years (we are hooked).  Husband is Diamond where as I am still Gold!  I do all of the planning/booking for the cruises and he gets all the credit!  LOL.  We will hopefully be enjoying the Diamond specialty restaurant perk during that week.   Looking forward to your review!

I don't know if your post makes me feel better or worse given you're sailing at peak peak times, but I'll go with better because at least they do seem consistent! 🙂

We had come from Disney Cruise Line sailing Concierge prior to 2019.   You could do 2, 7 night YC cruises the for the price of 1, Cat V Concierge room on DCL.    We are hooked on MSC.   Can't beat the price/product.

  3. The pricing for our YC cruises have been pretty fairly consistent since 2019.

Seaside for 2 adults and 1 child for late July 2019 was $6051 (YC1)

Seashore for 2 adults and 1 child for early April 2022 was $5819 (YC1)

Seaside for 2 adults and 1 child for mid June 2023 is $6148 (YC1)

    EMBARKATION

My scheduled arrival time was 11:00 to 11:30, but due to some detours and the need for a Starbucks on the way to the pier, didn't get there until noon.  I live about 60 miles from the pier.  Just a little bit of traffic getting into the terminal parking structure.  Maybe about three to four cars in line ahead of us to pull a ticket to get in on each lane.  Took maybe 5 minutes to get into the drop off lane.  Dropped off my big suitcase and then went to pick up the scooter.

I reserved from Scootaround who has an office right outside the parking garage.  You walk right past it to get to the terminal.  Pick up was quick.  They showed me how it worked and how to charge it and within 5 minutes was on my way.

The line into the terminal went from the doors back abound to the left to almost the entrance to the Scootaround office - maybe 200 people in line.  I went to an employee at the front of the terminal to see where I supposed to go as I was an hour late.  He directed me to the end of the "current" line which was the aforementioned 200 or so.  Got to the end of that line and was inside the building within 25 minutes.

As I got closer to the building noticed that there were actually 4 lines:  one for suite, platinum and diamond, the "current" check in time line (12:30 -1:00) and two more for later check in times (1:00 -1:30 and 1:30-2:00).  Once inside the building saw that Carnival took some hints from Disneyland as there was more line inside that went back and forth about about five times before you got to the check in agent.

After checking in and going through security I was able to board right away as my boarding group had already been called.  (Remember I was an hour late.)  There were lots of people sitting on the benches waiting for their boarding group to be called.  Lots of them.  From the time I picked up the scooter until I was on board was just about an hour.  I've had quicker and way longer embarkation times, so this was good.

My family will be cruising on the Panorama in April '23.  First time sailing out of Long Beach.  We are in a suite.  If the line splits up in the building, do you have to still go to the end of the line anyway?

  5. My families spring break cruise out of Guadeloupe was "cancelled" via an official email from MSC.  (This was the re-positioning cruise from Southern Caribbean to Port Canaveral.)    Long story short, my TA had a tough time with MSC customer service.  They were initially not going to honor the email that was sent by mistake.  After a week of going back and forth they caved and honored it and allowed me to get my YC deposit back.     They didn't even give me a chance to decide if I wanted to continue with the reservation since all they did (weeks later) was shorten the cruise by 1 day and change embarkation port from Port Canaveral to Martinique.   😒

I was on the Panorama two weeks ago and we had two family lounge insides with our 3 kids in the inside cabin and we liked it.

The family lounge was mostly used by us for the coffee machine which gave an acceptable cappuccino and we had at least two each per day.  The cookies and snacks were also good.  Ice cream almost always available.

The video game systems were two PS4s (i think they were PS4s), and each of them had two controllers.  The system worked fine but the games were extremely limited.  One Lego game and one or two racing games I think that was it.

Room card swipe required for entry.  The room was used sparingly not busy at all most of the time.

We would book family harbour again for the coffee machine alone.

My family is booked on the April 8th, 2023 Panorama sailing in a Family Harbor suite.  I think the big highlight for DH and myself is the coffee machine.   I am used to either having a coffee machine in our cabin or in a lounge that is available to us (Disney Concierge and MSC YC).   I will definitely be making many trips to the FH lounge just for that!

I called directly a couple of days ago to book two YC cabins for 2024 and the agent literally yawned in the middle of our conversation. A full-on yawn. Made me feel real special.

Asking for more money for the same room after THEY cancelled your cruise is unacceptable. I hope you can get that resolved.

And to pour salt on the wound, it looks like instead of my so called cancelled 7 night cruise ending up at Port Canaveral it is now a 6 day cruise ending in Fort de France, Martinique.

Any notice of why it had been cancelled?  We were looking at the same date & sailing previously.

All the email mentioned was "necessary operational reasons".   Looks like the cruise after ours was cancelled also.  And the crazy thing is you can still book my cancelled cruise on the MSC website.  That makes no sense to me.  😒

MSC Shoreside Customer Service is terrible. The onboard experience is excellent.

I finally agree with this assessment!!  We were a Disney cruise family but MSC YC has become our go to cruise over the past 3 plus years.

Long story short, my family had the April 9, 2023 MSC Seaside cruise booked since May 2022.    Just a couple of weeks ago I got an official email from MSC stating the cruise had been cancelled and my options were: #1 Move YC deposit to a new sailing or #2 Get a full refund of YC deposit.
My TA is having a hell of a time with MSC.  They first argued that the sailing was NOT cancelled and then they admitted it was.   Then they refuse to transfer the deposit to the held cabin because they want to charge more money for the cabin.   I am Gold Voyager Club and my DH is Diamond.  They refuse also to refund my deposit.   This is ridiculous.
Of our past 2 MSC YC cruises, our TA has had no issues with booking for us.     I guess this time they are making up for it in their complete ineptitude.   Just had to vent!

When we were there, there were cabanas and sparse occupancy.

It is area to left of YC restaurant. I am including pics we took when we explored that beach area.

This was taken outside the back of the YC Ocean house restaurant. The blue building is where they cook the food. We walked to the left, past the rocky area. Found that beautiful beach. Note cabanas on left of beach picture. This was November 2021, low occupancy. Cabanas not occupied.

After being driven to YC Ocean House, my family rented some gear and went snorkeling at that same beach.  It was really nice.

  13. My family loves MSC.  We have only done YC and it has spoiled us for sure.   Have sailed Seaside and the Seashore out of Miami.   Have Seaside booked, again, for Spring Break next year.   Love the international feel, pizza, and the beautiful ship itself.  I would say that MSC isn't for everybody but it is definitely for us!  🙂

  14. On our recent Seashore cruise, we flew into FLL and spent the night near the airport.  I used Infinity Transportation out of Fort Lauderdale.   They obviously have different kind of services but we chose their chauffeur service.  We had the Chevy Suburban/Lincoln MKT to ourselves.   It was seamless and professional.   I won't say it was inexpensive but I would use them again in a heartbeat.

We are hop on the repo cruise in Guadeloupe on April 9th!  Flying down the day before from ATL.  Will be our 3rd YC cruise.  Second time on Seaside.  Looking at places to stay now.
