  1. Hello, we have a cruise coming up and my sister surprised us with booking an over the water cabana for our group. We aren't booked in a suit and are not pinnacle level....I see everywhere online saying it's for these members only...is that still accurate? If so how did it let her book it then?

If you had the please of using one of these tell me your thoughts...anything to know or helpful info before we go?

We have been to Labadee 2 other times just never in a cabana....

    Thanks!

This is exactly why it would be nice if they are accommodating as long as a person isn’t asking for anything they’re not already entitled to within reason. Heck, you guys aren’t even eating everything you are entitled to, so it would be nice if you could take your dessert to eat when you want. I mean, diners where I live will wrap up dessert that’s included with your dinner to go when you’re too full for it; you’d think the “fine dining” on NCL could work with you 🙄.

I am not personally bothered by the 1-1-1-1, because I have never ordered more than that anyway (combination of I just couldn’t eat more than that and I really try to avoid food waste, even on vacation). But the rigidity is what irks me—like what if someone wanted to use one of their FAS meals and order 3 apps and nothing else, or something like that? It certainly isn’t costing NCL more money that way, so why not let people have a little flexibility? I mean, first-world problems, right? But it just seems like a foolish issue for NCL to choose to get people annoyed about.

so is Norwegian not allowing people to order more than 1 app, main course or dessert?

  3. good I am glad it is like this. I know some people arent honest, but my family is. I hope they take testing away finally overall. Doesnt make sense that hubby and I dont have to test by my kiddos do. Either way, one, a few, or all of us could and can get covid at any point regardless of having the vaccine or not.

It is a business and they can do what they want.  We would never buy full priced Cheers but we've been fortunate twice to get a rate that included it at a discount.

Having said that, I do wish that Carnival would give some consideration to a single person package.  Perhaps adult 2 would be required to buy a non-alcoholic package, which of course does not exist today.  Something between Bubbles and Cheers.

Exactly...in the past on Royal....if the 2nd adult couldn't drink alcohol for medical reasons then they usually would let them buy one of the other drink packages

I keep reading the title of this thread and wonder what the problem is if both adults can't drink booze. I'm sure I'm just stuck on stupid!

Oh sorry...that was totally my fault but thanks for pointing out my stupidity.

    Why can't people just kind?

If you just read then my initial post you would have seen I meant what if an adult in the room can't really drink alcohol and the other adult can.

You can certainly ask, but you will probably be denied. From other posts on CC, they don't even make exceptions for pregnant women.

Oh my goodness...that is insane. Royal Caribbean did in the past that I was aware of. The other person who wouldn't be getting package with alcohol just had to get one of the other packages offered like the soda package.

Are you sure it's actually sold out? Hotels sometimes don't open up availability this far out, so it's possible your date just hasn't gone on sale yet. Also, there is a sister Marriott hotel called the Envue in the same building as the Residence inn, so just as convenient to get to the ferry, and also shares the same parking garage.

There is also the big Sheraton Lincoln Harbor a couple of kilometers south of the Residence Inn, also right on the Hudson and also with it's own ferry stop that runs across the Hudson to the same ferry terminal on 39th St, in Manhattan

I would have to call and see if it's actually sold out. Online it is showing it is but I get what you are saying with possibly being too far out.

Thank you for all the feedback.

We did our first ever trip out of the Manhattan Cruise Terminal in June. Given the price of hotels and parking in Manhattan proper, we stayed across the Hudson in Weehawken,  pretty much directly across the River from the MCT. There is a very big Ferry terminal there, with two parking garages, and parking is about half of what it would be in Manhattan. We stayed at the Residence inn, parking garage attached, and the morning of the cruise, walked across the street with our luggage, boarded the ferry and 8 minutes and $9 later were in Manhattan. A simple 13 minute walk up the Hudson Greenway pedestrian path and we were at the ship.

Looks like this hotel is already sold out for when we are going...whichnis crazy because we are like 10 months out

Oooo this sounds like something we would want to do. So you left your car at your hotel in Weehawken and rode the ferry over?

It really comes down to if spending time in Manhattan the night before or not is of value. It will cost a significant amount more to drive into Manhattan proper and spend the night prior to your cruise than it will be to spend the night in the immediate vicinity in NJ. Parking alone at a hotel or garage near a hotel in Midtown will be in the $50-$70 region (or more if you have an SUV).

The Manhattan Cruise Terminal is pretty straightforward. Parking is along the piers that make up the complex and it sort of feels like you are pulling up to an airport terminal. Signs are plentiful and it is easy enough to manage.

awesome, thanks so much for that input!!

tell me about the VeriFLY....this is our first cruise since covid. Our children will not be vaccinated at the time of sailing. From what I am understanding, I will need to test my 12 year old but not my 10 year old because they recommend 12 and older be vaccinated? is that right?

And then I can use just a over the counter store bought covid test and then show proof on VeriFLY? Do I take a picture of the negative test and upload it or something?

We wont be sailing until June 2023 so more things may be lifted by then but I am a planner what to understand what we will need to do well in advance.

    Thanks!

  12. We just booked a trip next summer out of NYC on Carnival. This is our first cruise out of NYC. We would be driving in the day before from PA. Wondering if we should find a place in NYC by the terminal to stay? This place must have access to parking either on site or close by as we would be driving our own vehicle and then driving it to the terminal. Not looking to spend a crazy amount for just one night to sleep before the cruise but would like it to be clean, comfortable, have access to parking, and breakfast included would be a plus but not required......OR, should we find a cheaper room over in Secaucas NJ and just drive to the terminal the next morning?

Also, any other helpful tips or info we should know about sailing out of NYC? We have sailed out of NJ, Baltimore, and Florida for all our other cruises.

I used to work at South Street Seaport in NYC and loved the view from Pier 17.  Now there is a concert venue on a rooftop that looks incredible.  Even if you don't do the concert, Pier 17 has some great views to enjoy with a cocktail.

If you want an iconic view of Manhattan, The River Cafe in Brooklyn is very awesome!

this is my first time sailing out of NYC, are there hotels close by? Usually when we go to NYC (only a few times so far), we have stayed over in NJ and ride the bus over so this will be a new experience for us. I am thinking since we are about 4 hours away we should drive in to NYC or NJ the day before we sail.
