  1. I suspect the Magic will leave Miami on time on Saturday...

BUT...your problem is GETTING to Miami from North Carolina...

You have to drive as the storm up the coast tomorrow...

and then, if the storm is safely by, you have to drive with 11 million other

    people who are headed home...

If flying, not sure when the airports will open, but how many people are currently stranded and can not get flights into Florida...

I hope Carnival will give you some options...ie shortened cruise leaving on Sunday or full refund....

At this point I think shortened cruise leaving Sunday would be best and I would be okay with that. Trying to make arrangements to drive from Atlanta to Port Canaveral to be there Saturday sounds like its going to be more difficult.

  2. Interstate 16 out of Savannah, GA will be converted to westbound traffic only....in the next hour. I imagine some FL interstates will be converted to westbound as well.

I think you'd be hard-pressed to reach Port Canaveral due to traffic restrictions. In the hours after the storm....law enforcement will attempt to thwart the looters by limiting access to affected areas.

I just don't think that getting to Port Canaveral is logical or doable.

    Stay safe ya'll.

I agree with this. Even if traffic is opened up on Saturday its possibly going to be so bad with everyone filtering back in traffic will be slammed

I just wish Carnival would take this into consideration and inform us.

  3. AFAIK they don't ask for them with the application, I know that we didn't send ours in with DW's application. We just sent her naturalization certificate and copy of her drivers license. I would have them ready just in case they asked for them, though. I would also allow a little extra time if you are planning a trip in case processing takes longer.

Thanks for the reply. I did call the Acceptance Facility (which is the Clerk of Superior Court) in our area to ask this question. They told me that as long as we had the Birth Certificate and as long as the drivers license she was using shows her current name then that's all we would need. However on the application she did have to list all of the last names she has used in the past. Hope to maybe do all of this in the next couple days and will follow up.

  4. Okay I know we will be better off getting my wifes passport but my question is with applying for that passport and her name changes. From what I hear you will need to have marriage licenses showing the name changes. Let me attempt to simplify this a little.

Marriage 1 - Not sure on divorce date but did take place in the same state we live in now. Just a different County. Shouldn't be too hard to get. This of course is the first name change and the license should list her maiden name.

Marriage 2 - Again not sure on divorce date but marriage took place in a different state. This is the 2nd name change and she thinks this one shows her maiden last name which should match her birth certificate. Where do we go to get copies of marriage licenses from different states?

Marriage 3 - Third times a charm! :) However this license shows her ex husbands last name on it and not her maiden name. So the last names are different than her Birth Certificate.

My question is this... Do we need to get all 3 marriage licenses to show her name changes to bring with us to apply for her passport. We were thinking about just using her drivers license and birth certificate to cruise until I got thinking about her name changes. With this confusion I think we would be best off getting the passport I just want to make sure what documents I need to take with us. We dont sail until Oct so we still have time. Other than that we have her certified copy of her birth certificate issues by the state. Just really confused on this name change thing.

Worried with the name changes that this is going to be a painful process so I want to make sure I have the appropriate documents on hand when we apply.

    Thanks!

  5. I currently have two bookings in April for Park/Cruise packages. One at the LaQuinta on North Atlantic, and one at the Courtyard on North Atlantic. They seemed to have the best prices for park/cruise packages. I will end up cancelling one or the other.

I have been looking for feedback on either of these hotels.

I like the rates at LaQuinta much better. Would like to see others feedback on these hotels as well.

  6. The Radisson has a really nice pool, and is quite popular for the stay and cruise crowd. I hear very good things about Country Inn and Suites, but haven't stayed there, myself.

Thanks for the quick info. I will call them and see if they can give me special rates since we have so many going that will book a room.

I have already visited their site but wanted some feedback from people who have stayed there.

  7. I'm a little confused by this. Does it take $50 off the overall rate? Or do you just not have to pay the full deposit now, but you'll pay it over time?

I am booked for Oct. 2015, and when I looked, the price is exactly the same. I've already paid my $1,000 deposit though (4 people). But would I get $50 knocked off my price? Sorry, don't have a ton of experience with booking this far out and trying to take advantage of price protection.

No. The email was just about the deposit reduction so that made me go look at rates. I just out of curiosity went to take a look today because I got a email form Carnival. It just so happened the rate went down.

Sorry I wasnt more clear about that. Was just excited to save 100 bucks this early.

  8. A email happen to catch my eye today about a reduction in deposit to 50 bucks today for bookings in 2015. Thought I would check my booking for Oct 4th 2015 and found it saving me almost 100 bucks. Emailed my booking agent and got the lower rate. No fuss!

So proud of myself right now. Nothing like saving 100 bucks this early in the game.

  9. I was kind of excited about Cheers until I read that everyone in the stateroom over 21 is forced to buy into the program. I dont have any issues with 15 drinks a day however my wife will never even get close. So the cost of this wont work for us since we will have to buy 2.:mad:

I am new to the board and know I should search first but does someone have a link handy that shows the price of drinks and beers on the Dream?
