We've seen groups playing mah jong and other games on Discovery but I'm pretty sure they brought their own sets. I think there were a few games of some sort in the internet cafe (as noted, there is no library on the newer ships). You could use those in the atrium area to play.

    Thank you

  2. We were on Sun in May. Our OV didn't have any heat for 2 days and they didn't have the parts necessary to repair it. We were moved to another OV cabin. It seemed smaller but at least it was warmer.

The AC was blasting in parts of the ship. Entertainment was ok.  It just seemed like the ship was old and in desperate need of a drydock. And maybe new management. Very few happy employees.

  3. After contracting Covid on the Sun in May, we became extra careful wearing masks in crowds (elevators). We stayed healthy on the Sky after 21 days of cruising New England and Canada. One evening we were seated in an alcove off the main dining room. The guy at the next table started coughing and not covering his mouth, etc. We moved as far away from him as we could. Our server noticed and asked if everything was ok. Within moments, we were moved to a different table.  Thanks NCL!

  4. A few weeks before our recent New England/Canada cruise, I reached out to a contact on the Sky asking if they had Mahjongg sets on the ship.  They checked and I was told they had three.  I've made friends playing Mahjongg on cruises and I posted on our Cruise Critic rollcall pages and also on social media that we would play on seadays.  We arranged to play our first games the afternoon following our Meet and Greet.

It was a total shock when we realized only one of the sets was for the American version of the game.  We had 4 players that afternoon.  Hearing of our plight, the General Manager (the incomparable Jean-Michel Dhelin) made arrangements with the harbor master in Boston to purchase two more sets for American Mahjongg.  That's incredible service!  Imagine our surprise when we realized the sets were just the tiles and not the racks.  (Sorry if this doesn't make sense to a non-player.)  JM had the carpenter on the ship hand-make the racks we needed to play!

We sincerely appreciated and thanked the GM and his crew for going above and beyond to make a relatively small group of women and men happy.  That's just one reason why we continue to return to Norwegian time and time again.

  5. We were on the Sun in May. Must not have made a lasting impression since I can't remember any guest performers. But we were on the Sky 9/1-9/21 and they had a magician, a comedian and two women vocalists. On the way to Quebec City, there were 2 shows per night. For some reason on the second half of our cruise, only one performance per evening. Their house band, Sonata, had a performance in the main theater with songs from Queen and the Beatles. And on the last night, the cruise director Carlos Torres, joined Sonata for a Mexican Fiesta.

I am sapphire so I am entitled   to one free wash for the cruise, and then we get the $29.00 coupon.  If you roll the clothes really tight, you can fit quite a bit into the paper bag they give you.

One wash we sent the light colored clothes, and the second one darks.  We were not sure if the laundry separates things, so we did.  I wash fine washables in the bathroom sink, and hang them to dry on the clothesline in the shower stall.

We're Diamond and ask for laundry twice during long-ish cruises.  One for each Diamond member.  Make sure you write your status on the laundry slip.  They no longer return the copy of the completed laundry slip so be sure you save your copy just to confirm everything has been returned to you.  That's only happened once but they found the piece and had it to us within an hour or so.

We did a Diamond upgrade from ocean view to balcony and it took three weeks for it to be processed, even if they told us it would take 72 hours, for anyone waiting on one.

I was just going to ask how long approval is taking.  We applied last week but haven't heard anything.  Our situation may be different than others.  We have a B2B and OV is booked on both legs.  But only a guarantee balcony is showing on the 2nd leg.  Not sure if they will upgrade us or not.
