As an alternative to taxi / Uber, the St Andrews Square tram stop is a 5 minute walk from the George and will take you directly to the cruise terminal in Leith. 

We were on Explorer in Aug ‘22 and the bedroom TV was static hanging above the storage units to the side of the window.

The storage units were also different - lower with a lid rather than drawers. We used these for bulkier items like day bags / shopping we acquired…

It also looks like the vanity unit which was separate on Explorer has been incorporated into the run of storage units.

We loved the room / bathroom / amenities and had no issues with movement but wouldn’t book again as we personally didn’t get a lot of use from the balcony. Ours seemed narrower / more cramped than above picture (we were deck 8). Some of the space was taken up with a large storage bin for the furniture cushions. 
Cruise was around Greece / Turkey but we did still notice the wind. 
 

Many thanks for the replies. We have decided on a compromise and will take the direct flight at the better time but in economy so no additional charge. 

We are booked on our first Regent cruise in August ‘22. This includes return Business Class from Edinburgh. 
 

Our flights have just been confirmed as Edin to Athens with BA via Heathrow which we were ok with as there are limited choices on this route. 
 

For the return Regent offered Istanbul to Edinburgh with BA via Heathrow. Flight departure time of 0840 would mean very early disembark effectively knocking into the overnight in Istanbul where we had planned to have dinner off ship which we anticipated being a highlight of the cruise. 
 

As there is a direct flight at 1315 with Turkish Airlines we saw this as a much preferable option and asked if this could be booked instead. The answer was yes if we were prepared to pay an additional £1000. Our TA tried to get this reduced as we were happy to pay a premium for the convenience but this seemed excessive. The choice of take it or leave it was the only one we were given. 
 

When I saw this thread I decided I would ask if this is “normal” and / or if there is a route I can take to challenge this further.

In our case the first communication of the change was an email from Az themselves which was unexpected as we had booked via a TA and normally the comms goes to them first and they pass on to customer. 
The Az email laid our the options of sticking with the curtailed cruise or transferring to alternatives and detailed the pricing basis and OBC being offered for each of these options. 
I called our TA within 24 hrs of receipt and they confirmed the choices and exact pricing but were not able to further enhance any of the offers which were viable for our circumstances.

My apologies got a couple of emails cross-wired! The originally offered alternative with the shorted itinerary but no pro-rating was Quest 11th June. My TA had also raised the possibility of Quest 9th Sept (8 nights) with Az to try to get more flexibility. 
 

The Sept 17th was part of the initial offer but didn’t work for us due to its proximity to another booked holiday. We therefore didn’t ask for a formal quote so unsure how any other offers would have gelled with the price matching combined with us wanting to use our loyalty programme 4 free nights. 

We are also on the Pursuit 31st May cruise (originally Barcelona to Bordeaux). Our understanding is that it has been truncated to 7 nights as the charter is from Lisbon onwards so now losing northern Spain and Bordeaux. 
 

Several options were available. 

• stick with existing and have cost pro-rated for the lost nights. Additional OBC offered depending on cabin category. 
• move to a choice of 2 alternative cruises in ‘22 with Spanish ports albeit neither including northern Spain. Both with reduced no of nights but no pro-rating only a “match” to price paid for 11 night cruise (assumption is these cruises now more expensive). OBC offered was more generous but still no match for the loss of nights. I did try and push back on this but no joy. 
• full refund of deposit, effectively cancellation.

We have decided to stay with original and add on extra days in Barcelona and Lisbon.
