  1. Does fog ever delay disembarkation in San Juan as it does in Galveston? I am not sure as what time to book a flight out of San Juan. First time cruising out of San Juan! I appreciate any commets. Thank You!!

  2. :confused:We will be there in Feb '18. #2 stop of 3. I am disabled & can not participate in most excursions. My wife is doing excursions on stops 1 & 3. I thought we might spend the day just being together & kicking back in the port area. Goog idea or not?

  3. We used a Visa debit card with NO problems on our last cruise. The problem people talk about the hold is people who don't have enough of a balance to backup that hold. If you have sufficient funds in your account, you will have no problem. We were told by numerous people to NOT use our debit card, but after speaking to our bank, increasing our limit, we had NO problems. You run the same risk using a credit card as you do using a debit card!!

  4. For what its worth, we just cruised on Liberty of the Seas last November. We gave our room steward $20.00 at the beginning of our cruise and another $20.00 at the end of the cruise. While gifts of cookies, T shirts may be nice, I think the universal language of cash is best. Just my opinion

  5. I am a wheelchair user and just got off Liberty of the Seas on Saturday, November22, 2014. After I was checked in, I was wheeled to an area where other disabled guests were. I did not wait long until I was being pushed behind the counter and directly onto the ship. Disembarking was even easier. I was told where & when to be on the morning of disembarkation. I was pushed off the ship to baggage claim, then customs before being pushed to where my shuttle was waiting. Every aspect of the assistance went better than I ever could have imagined. I am sure not all have this kind of luck, but my trips on & off were enjoyable.

  6. Hoosier - I understand your worries completely. I think most people are concerned about damaging their camera in one way or another. My sole point is using the camera instead of keeping it under lock & key. I do not want my camera getting sand in it or dragging behind me underwater. I will take precautions to protect my DSLR and maybe not even take it to the beach. That sand can get in many an unwanted places. I love to take pictures and shooting an overabundance of them only makes me a better photographer. I apologize if I offended anyone. Thanks for all the comments.

  7. I am confused!! Why would you have a nice DSLR and NOT take it with you? You have shelled out a good chunk of money for a good camera. Why have it and not use it? If you are serious enough about photography to purchase a DSLR, you should be serious enough to use it. I am taking my Canon T31, as well as a JVC digital camcorder and a digital point & shoot. My only worry is if I have enough memory cards!!

  8. Thank You for all your responses. We set sail on 11/17 on our 1st cruise. Fat Paul, your so right. Falling down is not fun at all. I do have an accessible room and yes I have rented a scooter for the cruise. I have one at home and use it daily. Thank You again!!

  9. In reading a lot a reviews, I see a number of cruisers with MS. Are people with MS more likely to feel seasick. I have had MS for 10+ years and have little or no sense of balance left. This is our first cruise and hopefully not our last. Do any MS patients do anything different on a cruise?

  10. Is the "Boarding Pass" known by another name? We have printed our guest ticket booklet and our Set Sail Pass. Is the boarding pass one of these. I am unable to find any document referred to as a boarding pass. We are sailing RCCL next month and need to make sure we have everything in order.

  11. I am going to cash out the pre-paid VISA and use that cash for my on board expenses. I just got back from speaking with my banks security department and asked them about using a debit card both on the ship and in ports. They said as long as they know where you are going to be, & when, there is absolutely no problem in using a debit card. You have the same risk each time you use a card on-line. They also said, if informed prior to going on our cruise, there would be no "hold" put on our funds. No offense to anyone here, but I am going to trust my bank on this!

  12. I have purchased a prepaid VISA & intend to use that for onboard expense account. One good thing is that there is a set limit. The limit is such that we should have no problem with exceeding this limit & still have plenty of fun. Thanks to all for your input.

  13. Thank You for your responses. I have a Pride Victory Sport so I am familiar with all aspects of the scooter. I have rented a mid-sized scooter from Special Needs at Sea. Thanks for the MDR info, it will be helpful, but I may just use my wheelchair when dining.

  14. This is probably covered somewhere, but am unable to find it. The gangways on/off the ship, are they too steep to ride a scooter on? Do you have to "walk" the scooter. Also any advice from cruisers who have rented scooters would be appreciated. My wife & I are sailing 11/17 on the Liberty of the seas. Thank You for your assistance!
