  1. Yes, we are planning 2 days in Athens before our cruise. We found a cooking class at Karaiskos Farm which is about 30 mins by taxi from the Volos port and they said they could do a class from 3-6pm since we are port from 12-9pm!

The monasteries look stunning, I just wish they weren’t so far from the port.

  2. We will be in Santorini port from 8am-9:30pm in May 2022. It will be 4 of us total and since we have all day there, we figure it will make the most sense to rent a car and drive around the island by ourselves for the day.

Does anyone have a recommendation on a car rental agency?

Also, what is a good itinerary for the day to see the top can’t miss spots?

  3. Hello, has anyone stopped in Volos? I am looking for things to do in the area when we stop on our cruise. We are in port from 12pm-9pm in May 2022. My mom would like to do a cooking class at one of our ports and I thought I would try to find somewhere that offers cooking class experiences in the Volos area. Has anyone done this before in the area?

Any other suggestions for things to do in the area. I know the Meteora Monasteries is a popular excursion for that port but we would rather stay closer to port and not have such a long travel day excursion.

  4. Personally, I will never do a winter cruise again. We sailed out of NYC in mid Feb (it was an exceptionally cold week) two years ago on a 9 night cruise. The first day and a half were freezing and the ocean was so rough. They had all the decks closed off and most people, including myself, were incredibily sea sick. Same thing on the way back, the last day and a half was spent inside as well. So I would say that a balcony would not be worth it in the winter at all.

  5. Hi all! I am coming to Nassau on the Carnival Pride in November and I'm trying to decide if I want to get a day pass at Melia or Compass Point. I've been seeing a lot of info on Melia but I've seen hardly anything about Compass Point. Does anyone have any info on Compass Point? How is the property? I emailed both hotels and Melia said it's $45pp and Compass Point said it's $21.50pp for a day pass. I would take the bus to get to either place. Does anyone know how long it takes the bus to get to either location? Is Compass Point a much farther destination? I wouldn't mind spending a few extra minutes to get to Compass Point to save $20+ per person but at the same time, if it's a long trip, I don't want to waste a good chunk of my day getting there. I would love to hear your experiences at either of these properties and your experience with the commute. Thanks!!

  6. Horseshoe bay is beautiful! You definitely want to go there one day. We got a 3 day bus/ferry pass at a little kiosk right when we got off the ship. I forget the price but it was a good deal. One day we took the ferry over to st George and went to fort st. Catherine which was beautiful and really cool. There is a little beach right next to the fort too. From the fort we walked to the unfinished cathedral and St. Peter's church then stopped for lunch. St. George is such a cute town. The walk was beautiful. We passed a bunch of gorgeous houses and a beach or two. Then we hopped on a bus to Hamilton and walked around the city and visited fort hamilton. Hamilton wasn't my cup of tea tho so we didn't stay too long. However, it's a great place if you love to shop. Then we caught the ferry from Hamilton back to kings wharf where the boat was docked.

  7. I will be taking a cruise in February and the cruise website says that we will be docking in San juan from 3pm-9pm. I've read a few things about the time being an hour ahead in San juan. So does this mean that we will be in port from 4-10pm San Juan time? I was planning on touring one of the forts but if we only get in at 4pm San juan time, I don't know if I will have enough time to explore the fort before the closing time at 6. So I may want to change my plans if this is the case.

  8. Hi, I am in sideways room 8066 on the norwegian gem this coming feb. I did a Google search trying to find some pictures of the obstructed view sideways rooms and came across this post from a few years ago. Does anyone have any pics of these types of rooms??

  9. I'm trying to figure out which underwater or waterproof camera to purchase for my upcoming cruise to the caribbean. I don't want to spend more than $200. But I still want to be able to take good quality pictures both above and under water. Can anyone recommend a good camera? Also, I would love to see some examples of pictures you've taken both underwater and above with your camera.

  10. Thanks for the advice and suggestions everyone! I am going to have to rework my plan. Do any bigger planes land early in the morning? Maybe I will stop at Maho first then head to pinel? I guess it will all depend on the flight schedule for the day I am there. Or maybe I will just skip pinel and take the bus to mullet and maho for the day.

  11. Hi, I will be sailing on the Norwegian Gem in Feb and we will be in port from 8-6 on a Sunday. My husband and I are planning on doing the ship excursion to St. John in the AM and would return to st. Thomas around 1pm. Does anyone have any ideas for what we could do with the remainder of our day on the island?

  12. Hi. My husband and I are going to be arriving in Philipsburg on a Monday in Feb and we are in port from 8-5. My plan right now is to rent a car(I've read that there are a few rental companies right by the dock). Should we reserve the car ahead of time or just walk off the ship and pick a rental place that day? After we pick up a rental we plan on heading to Cul de Sac(hopefully arriving around 930-10am) and rent a kayak and kayak over to pinel island. The plan would be to return the kayaks around 1pm. Then we would head to mullet or maho. I would like to spend more time on mullet but my husband really wants to see the planes land on maho. So I figure we can look up the flight schedule that day and just drive to maho for like a half hour when the planes are scheduled to land. or maybe we would just go straight to maho and skip mullet depending on time. I would like to leave the maho/mullet area around 3:45 to avoid the draw bridge and to ensure we have enough time to get back to the ship by 5. Does this sound like a good plan for the day?

  13. Hi! I will be in San Juan in Feb on a Saturday from 3-9pm. My husband and I plan on touring one of the forts. Afterwards I would like to walk somewhere to watch the sunset. Does anyone have any recommendations on where I could go that has good views of the sunset and is safe to be after dark?
