What if any on board credits are stackable ?

I came here looking for shareholders information and wow found out about AARP and nursing OBC. Since I am already booked, I will try to have it added but they both said future bookings. My question is, do we need to do this linking once and it is on our account for years or so we need to link every year? I will be retiring at some point (I hope) and just curious if anyone knows.
