  1. I was just on the Pride last week. I have similar issues with loud music and noise. The DJ played pleasant party ish tunes, Motown as I recall etc. It's somewhat loud by the pool....but there were plenty of chairs on the upper deck most days to go if you don't like the music down by the pool. I read alot there. There are spots where you can't hear the music at all when the ship is in motion. Just the sounds of the ocean. Hope this is helpful. :)

  2. Jeff, was on this cruise...saw your son on an elevator...recognized him from your reviews...I said you must be jeff's son, I recognize you from cruise critic. He was very sweet and gave me a pleasant smile. He got off the elevator...my DD who is 11 said OMG mom that is so Internet creeeeeeppppy to tell someone you recognize them from cruise critic! I can't really disagree. LOL

What a great trip. Look forward to re living!

  3. We are planing on leaving Atlanta by noon on Friday and stop in Orlando Friday night. Then up and out at 6 to Miami. its 10ish hour drive. 7 to Orlando and then another 3 Sat am. Does that sound do able?

Thanks for the heads up. We all need a lookout. ;)

Sounds like a plan. Have a great time!!!

  4. Two days of work and then the long drive to Miami! I can't wait!!!!

This trip is so needed. I was laid off  the day before my last cruise three years ago. A year and a half and a few steps backwards to land a job. Now two jobs later finally ready to set sail. :D:D:D

OP, hate to sound like your mother....your post caught my eye because you are driving to Miami....if you have not done the drive through Florida Easter weekend, pack your patience and leave yourself plenty of time. I've been in some epic traffic in Florida Easter weekend when we could not avoid certain routes at peak times.

Most of all have a great time! :)

  5. So I had thought about doing this myself (2 couples cruising, guys want Cheers girls dont) but decided against it because I thought the switching of rooms keys (and the associated charges with it) would get to complicated. Did I over think it??

I've decided against it. Too complicated. Not really in the spirit it was intended (forgive the pun). Your mileage may vary.

  6. Let me see if I can explain this without making a mess of it:

two cabins. cabin # 1 wife and child.

    cabin # 2 adult brothers (2)

The brothers are booked together to save the single brother the solo cruise fare. The brother who is the husband/father will sleep in the cabin with his wife and child.

One brother does not want the Cheers program, the other does. Wife does not. Should we move the wife into the first cabin so that both adults who are on the reservation do not have to purchase Cheers, and put the other brother in the room with the child? He could purchase then since he is only adult over 21 on that cabin reservation?

If yes, should we do this beforehand by phone? Or wait til the ship...which seems like we are trying to game the system?

I am not trying to outright game the system. But if it makes sense and is permissible, then I will.

  7. Cruise Director:

It probably comes down to budget. Do you have a way of earning your share? Perhaps that might convince them. Can you cut grass, wash cars, or dog sit/dog walk, pet sit for your neighbors? If you had a plan to earn the money, perhaps they might consider.

    Good luck!

    Best :)

  8. Good morning,

We will be on the Pride the week of:

NCAA basketball championship, baseball opening day, and the Masters. :)

Could anyone who was recently on the Pride shed light as to what kind of sports are shown/avail in the Sports Bar?

Many thanks. Have a great day.

  9. I liked the idea of gathering early. Maybe do a small gathering of your family, taking turns to share a few favorite memories and words about him. A favorite song could be played (well, quietly LOL) close with a poem or other inspirational text. A toast would be good with juice or something stronger. I am sorry for your family's lost. You are a kind sister to think of this.

  10. I am just dipping into this thread I realize very late--but Baltimore Inner harbor is a destination by itself and has a ton of restaurants etc. And world class aquarium. If you don't need the park option because you are flying in, maybe a better location than the suburbs. Quick shuttle or cab to the port departure day. CVS etc. Downtown to grab any last minute needs.

  11. I live in NW DC not far from the Van Ness metro station. I agree with all the great advice on the thread. I would just advise to leave plenty of time for traffic. The 495 beltway can be stop and go traffic wise and gets very backed up. Happy to answer and other DC questions so lay em on me. :)

  12. I am still confused. The description reads as if per cabana but when you add it to your cart, all guest names come up and it appears to be priced per head. I am sorry. I am dense. Can someone spell this out for me? 129 per cabana, or 129 x 4 for all of us to use it?

  13. I am reading the line "in addition to proof of citizenship" to mean you need passport AND state issued ID. Sounds like passport will be sufficient based on thread feedback

    U.S. Citizens

Carnival highly recommends all guests travel with a passport. Although a passport is not required for U.S. citizens taking cruises that begin and end in the same or a different U.S. port, travelling with a passport may help to expedite your CBP clearance upon return to the U.S. Additionally, passports are required in the event you need to fly from the U.S. to a foreign port should you miss your scheduled port of embarkation, or need to fly back to the U.S. for emergency reasons.

The Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) allows U.S. citizens (including children) sailing on cruises that begin and end in the same U.S. port to travel with one of the WHTI compliant documents, listed below. Additionally, the same document requirements apply when taking a cruise that begins and ends in a different U.S. port

    • Valid U.S. Passport

    • Passport Card

    • Original or suitable quality copy of a Birth Certificate (Issued by a government agency: state/county/city) and a government issued photo ID if 16 years of age and older.

    • Original Certificate of Naturalization

    • Enhanced Tribal Card

    • A Consular Report of Birth Abroad

    • Enhanced Driver’s License (EDL) – only acceptable at land and sea ports of entry. It cannot be used for air travel outside the U.S. The word ‘Enhanced’ must appear on the driver’s license. The following five states currently issue an EDL: Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Vermont and Washington.

Copies of U.S. passports and naturalization papers, hospital and baptismal certificates are not WHTI compliant documents, therefore, are NOT acceptable.

Birth certificates from Puerto Rico issued prior to July 1, 2010 are not valid forms of proof of citizenship that is accepted by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Guests from Puerto Rico either need to present a WHTI-compliant document or a government-issued photo identification with a validated birth certificate issued after July 1, 2010.

*If you need to obtain a passport quickly, Carnival recommends that you contact VisaCentral at http://www.visacentral.com/carnival or by phone: 1-866-788-1100. Callers should mention that they are sailing on Carnival to receive discounted service fees.

    Photo Identification

In addition to proof of citizenship, a non-expired government-issued photo I.D is required of all guests 16 years of age and older. The following are acceptable:

    • Driver’s License

    • Driver’s Permit

    • School/Student I.D (acceptable ONLY for guests under 19 years of age)

    • Government-Issued identification card (city/state/federal)

  14. My husband does not drive, we live in a city, and he hates it.

He uses a passport on occasions he flies. A passport was enough last time we cruised (on another line). I saw on Carnival's site that he needs a passport AND a state issued state I.D. We are cruising on April 5th. He applied for a non driver license today, but they mail it and we will be cutting it close. They issued him a paper temporary pass today.

No flames, I know it's our responsibility to have the necessary documentation but I would be grateful for anyone's advice how strict they are at check in without a plastic, hard copy of the non driver ID.

Again, he is now holding a paper temporary pass and has a passport.

    Thank you very much

  15. Hi- we are booked on the pride April 5 out of baltimore. Know it will be packed, easter week but only week we can travel. I have booked faster to the fun and would be grateful for any tips etc you can offer regarding arrival time or anything else you would like to offer. We are driving up just from DC and can plan port time arrival pretty much anytime. Thanks!

  16. I checked price for Comfort Suites for Easter Week and it was more or less the price the ship is charging for the waterpark excursion when you added it up for 4 people. Comfort charges extra for each additional person etc.

Easter week is probably highest rate season so your mileage may vary. You can price a room online with them. Look at the extra charges very carefully. They do add up.
