  1. I think that the nicest things that’s ever happened to me on a Carnival cruise was back in November of 2013. My mother and I were sailing on the Conquest repositioning cruise.

There are actually 2 different events. The first happened the night of our second formal evening, also a sea day. My mom wasn’t feeling well that night and didn’t come down to the MDR. Our waiter was worried when I showed up alone. I had my dinner but was going to pass on desert because there wasn’t really anything that I truly wanted, but joked with him that I’d love to take the cheesecake back to my mom in the stateroom, but that I knew that wasn’t allowed. Not only did he bring me out a covered plate of cheesecake, but also everything that she needed to eat it as well. The funny thing is that the ladies at the next table over told me as I was leaving that if they had realized that I was dining alone that they would have had me join them at their table, so nice of them.

The other was about the excursion I had scheduled for Grand Turk (Snuba) and the excursion desk never notifying me that they had moved the time up an hour for it (they claim that they notified everyone in writing about the change (BS)), now this is a real disappointment because I had been looking forward to this particular excursion for the entire cruise. The tour operators went above and beyond to help out on this snafu. It just happens that the sister ship Glory was in at the same time we were, arrived about an hour after the Conquest did. The tour operator knew that the Glory had a group going out for the Snuba excursion a little later in the afternoon and between them and the fabulous people from the Glory’s excursion department, they managed to get me squeezed into the group from the Glory. Not only that but the owner of the tour company was waiting for me on the beach to rush me back to the port to be on time for boarding the Conquest while the rest of the group from them Glory finished up and got ready to head back. Everyone went out of their way to give me a great experience and convinced me that I needed to give the Glory another try (I had sailed her previously and not really like the ship). I am so looking forward to sailing the Glory in October 2015.

  2. Personally I love my Carnival PVP. He checks in with me every once in a while to see how things are going, for that matter he just tpped me off that there may be some price changes or specials affecting my upcoming cruise in October 2015. Never puts any pressure to book before I am ready but very helpful at the right time.

  3. As noted, very easy. In each direction you board the tender on one deck, and leave on the other.

There is a ramp at the aft of the tender that can be used instead of taking the stairs. The ramp is used to move the food service trollies, but there's no reason that people who need it can't use it.

Stay on the bottom level of the tender to get the shade.

Many thanks for all of the helpful answers, very glad to know about the ramp. Mom is ok on level areas but not so steady on stairs or climbing. Ultimately she will be the one to decide whether she stays on the ship or comes with me to the island. This will be our first time stopping a HMC so I am looking forward to my time there.

  4. Onyx007, is this excursion easy for a person who has trouble walking distance? Is it a bumpy ride?

Be aware that if you can't climb a narrow, steep, twisting stairway you will not get the good views, in fact you won't get any view at all for most of the train ride. I have personally done this tour several years ago, they do not tell you about the climbing requirements. It caused problems for us as my mom has mobility issues and ended up restricted to the lower level and missed ALL of the scenic views. We also had a gentleman in a wheelchair on that run and his family had to take turns staying with him,

Don't get me wrong, it is a great trip, but only if you can get up to the upper level of the train.

  5. Not quite an intermission…just a correction…

One of the minions has been following along and she doesn’t quite remember things the way I do…so…she’s correcting my story!

She didn’t remember it being as rocky that last day…so…I should probably clarify that the swaying wasn’t nearly as bad as some of those reviews recently where they’re saying they were tossed out of bed! And…it might not have been just my toes in the alcohol at the time…I may have stopped by the atrium bar on the way back to the cabin (it was on the way and was strategically located…with all the activity going on around it…no one would have heard the squish squish of my rum soaked sandals)…so I probably picked up another of my favorite cruise drink…a kiss on the lips…before slogging my way back to the cabin. (I was heading back to clean up and PACK…could you blame me?) So…I will begrudgingly admit…that may have added to the rockiness.

The minion also pointed out my incorrect detail that the lady at the gift shop wouldn’t have gathered up her change…it would’ve been her sail and sign card…so...she’s correct again.

Now can you guess which minion is not getting invited on the next cruise?!! (Just kidding Mom! :D )

Next time I’ll take notes…and…I’ll put the minions to work proofreading…since I’ve been doing a lousy job at that…my apologies for all the missed words, typos and grammatical errors.

I have to admit…I’ve been having so much fun writing this review. I’m still shocked and amazed that anyone is reading it! I really do appreciate all the kind comments. It makes me want to go back and write the review from our last cruise with the minions…there was some craziness on that one…(golf cart racing in Grand Turk)…shopping in St. Thomas (kill me now)…the disappearance of Half Moon Cay……or...…the cruise before that…Hurricane Hugo and the Mexican Cartel!

…..hmm…….maybe I’ll give this blogging thing some thought…..

    Next up…Last Sea Day…part 2.

Yes, more please. Review any all of your past and future cruises. I haven't laughed this hard in a long time. I am looking forward to hearing more of your adventures.
