The Red Hook area has gentrified a lot since Superstorm Sandy.  While it's still a bit rough around the edges, there are trendy restaurants and wine shops on the main drag as well as an upscale food market and IKEA.  Renovated homes are being sprouting up.  Great views of lower Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty from the park near the food market.

There is no subway within walking distance.  There is a bus along the main drag (can't remember the exact name) that goes to the Borough Hall area where you can catch the subway.

    Thanks.

Has Princess added this perk for anyone without a cancellation and refare?  It seems like I have heard of people getting these kind of offers added on.

    Yes.
Contacted my TA, and the Specialty Dining promo was automatically added to my booked cruise on Sky.     That is in addition to the one Speciality Dining  my TA comps me on every cruise I book with her.   Two comped Specialty Dining on a 7 day cruise?   That’s crazy good.  👍  Not needed to cancel/refare.

Bring me the 48 oz. Tomahawk ribeye  steaks prepared Pittsburg style, please. 😁

It's hard to know..we received an upsell offer from balcony to minisuite for $299. We declined it. A couple of weeks later we received another upsell..same option but this time it was for $199. We still declined. I'm curious as to whether there will be another..but it's more curiosity than anything else..perfectly happy with the balcony! If they really want our balcony they can give us a free upgrade!!

    “Are you feeling lucky?”  😀
If you wait long enough, you may get a free upgrade to a suite or above.  Usually a week or less before sailing.

No choice in location though, if that matters to you.

Good luck, and enjoy your cruise.

I disagree re needing transportation if you can walk a block or two.  There are sidewalks along the road where the piers are.  We've done several B2B's out of PE and on "turnaround days"  have easily walked over to Walgreen's or whatever the drugstore is at the corner of the main drag (17th St); also have met friends for coffee at the Starbucks also on the main drag.

I was there only a few weeks ago after debarking from the Crown.   There was a lot of road work going on,  and some of the sidewalks were closed.   Not sure when the sidewalks will be repaired.   Hopefully repaired by your cruise.

    Enjoy your cruise.

Seems like plenty of time to make the flight to me but others in our group are nervous about it.  Anyone have experience with getting of Regal and getting to MIA?  Thanks

Should be ok.   Cruise terminal to MIA takes around 20 minutes.

I'm so excited...got my first-ever upsell offer and I took it!  (And this is the first time I booked directly with Princess...coincidence?).  I'm a solo and booked a deluxe balcony cabin on the Regal the day before yesterday...today I got an upsell offer for an S3 full suite (Caribe deck aft!!) for $85/pp/per day (5 day cruise).  I took it because I was in this type of suite 2 years ago and loved it.  I'm going to be on a B2B, with this being the first part.

Question: As a solo, do I still get 3 cruise credits for being a solo in a suite since I got a paid upsell?  I remember reading that free upgrades don't get the extra credits, but not sure if I'll get 3 since I paid (but obviously I didn't pay the "going rate"...I actually saved $1,120 over the current solo full suite rate!!).  I have 12 credits now, so if I get 3 for this cruise then I'll be Elite for the second part of the B2B.  That would be great because I have a balcony cabin booked for that part.

Any advice will be helpful...even though they upgraded my Travel Summary, Luggage Tags and Boarding Pass, my Cruise Credit history still says I'm going to get just 2 credits...hopefully they just haven't updated it.

    Sounds good.

Location of your new cabin?  Or does it matter to you?

    Enjoy your cruise.

Is walking out of and back into Port Everglades, Fl allowed?  Or must you obtain some type of vehicle transportation?

Such, how hard is it to catch a cab after disembarking from a ship?

    Thanks

    Bob

    • Yes. Allowed.  Some PAXs walk to the hotels/restaurants/shops only 5-10 minutes walk from the cruise terminal.
    •
    • Not hard to catch a cab/Uber/Lyft at the cruise terminal.  Drop off/pick up at the terminal curb.

My mom offered to pay for our trip in the summer of 2021.  She and my three daughters are going to share a mini suite, and my husband and I will be in an inside cabin.  I haven't been in an inside cabin in 15+ years.  I don't normally spend a lot of time in my cabin as it is, but I will miss seeing the sun.  Anyone have any helpful tips to get me more excited about an inside cabin?  I've already put in my Amazon cart those goofy porthole stickers...

Nice to get a free cruise 👍👍
How about offering to pay your mom the difference from an Inside cabin to OV or Balcony?
Or, inform Princess or your TA, you are willing to take an Upsell offer.   There are promotions going on now.

Or, you can leave the TV in your inside cabin to the Bridge Cam channel.

    Enjoy your cruise.

Before I answer your question, I have a couple of questions for you:

    1.  Did you really take the time to click on the reply box to type that question?

    2.  Does your question stem from a genuine concern about our future cruise plans?  🤨

    3.  Have you ever known ANYONE....E-VER.... to cancel a cruise over $37?

Now, to answer your question  (since you DID ask it....)

After much thought....much deliberation....and several sleepless nights (dripping sarcasm just fyi)  we have finally decided that we will STILL go on this cruise that we've been planning for 16 months....and anticipating for quite a bit longer than that....IN SPITE of the additional $37 cost.

    *sigh*

    Yes.

    Yes.

    Yes.

So,  why the concern over a $37 increase in port fees?

Others seem to agree, it’s not a big deal.

    Enjoy your cruise.

I am sure this has been answered many times, but I have looked back and can't find it right now and I am in hurry. Can I bring a 12 pack of soda on board with me? Thanks in advance for your polite replies.

Yes.  No limit.  On a recent 28 day cruise,  I carried on 12 pack of Dr. Pepper, 12 pack of Fanta Orange, and 12 pack of Dad’s Root Beer.

Since booking our cruise the port taxes and fees have gone up.  Nothing has changed in our "amount due" column...it's still listed at the old price.  Are those taxes/fees locked in when you book - similar to cruise fares.... or can we expect PCL to charge that additional amount on the cruise?

In the fine print is says Princess "reserves the right" to collect that....but wondering if anyone has information or experience as to whether they actually 'exercise' that right  😉

Is that going to be a deal breaker whether you take the cruise?

I am looking for recent Princess Cruise Patter. .. more specifically WORLD CRUISE. I have found many Patters for Alaska and Caribbean cruises but am looking for an idea of activities offered on world cruise.

    That’s a lot of Patter’s you’re asking for.

Please advise if, in North America especially, you are still able to request a price reduction if you have seen the cruise you have previously booked now advertised at a lower price than when you booked it?   Are you now required to cancel the original cruise so  losing any deals that were on the original booking?   If you do have to cancel the cruise rather than just get the new price applied as usually happened do you have to pay the cancellation cost (even though you are still going on the cruise).

Comments would be appreciated.  I have seen nothing on CC to say this is the case hence why I am asking

    Yes you can.

Hi all, cruising in Dec and wondering if there's an alcohol bevvie package that's not so expensive and as the premier is. In the summer, there's usually the sip and sail but I don't know about the winter. That's kind of what I'm looking for. (wanting to have a few a day)

    Yes there is.

I have an upcoming cruise in 16 days.  I've cruised with Princess 5 times over the last 2 years.  I always reserve massages in the Lotus spa, but just now when I logged in to the Cruise personalizer it said my spa appointments were not confirmed until I paid for them.  " Reservations are not confirmed and can be reserved by other guests until payment is recieved" (Yes, they really did spell "recieved" that way).  And above where my appointments are in the cart it says "You do not have any spa treatments reserved yet."  Is this something brand new?  I couldn't find anything about it when I searched the forum.   I have never paid for a massage in advance.  I don't like this change.

Yes.  New policy.  You can always wait until you are on board to make an appointment and pay.  Your choice.

My husband and I will be cruising on the crown Princess 11/7/19.    We are not very adventurous and quite frankly a little afraid of touring on our own in ports.  However the shore excursions seem so pricey.   Does anyone have any suggestions/words of advice about touring outside the cruise line?  I have been advised by other people we know to ONLY book excursions thru the ship.  We will be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and are really looking forward to this trip but honestly I am REALLY stressing over these dang shore excursions..  Thanks, Denise

You are on vacation.  Minimize activities that will cause you stress,  including booking independent 3rd party shore excursions.  By your own admission, “we are not very adventurous, and quite frankly a little afraid of touring on our own in ports”.   IMO, Bite the bullet,  and spend a little more money for the peace of mind, and only book the Princess  shore excursions.  Stress free.

    Enjoy your cruise.   😀
