Unlike most cruises, they didn’t ask us about our plans after the cruise. On last day, we were given luggage tags and told to put our bags out by 10 pm.  Like everyone near our cabin, We got tags #30.  30 was listed as departing at 9:30.  Asked for lower #. No!  If you want to get off earlier, we were told to drag our own bags off. We let them take our bags since we couldn’t move them ourselves. My spouse has a walker.  Ship didn’t dock until after  8.  When we told to vacate our cabin, we went to deck 4 where we intended to wait. People were crowded, no chairs, many people sitting on floor, etc. we walked off. We waited in the terminal until they unloaded #30 luggage.  We were in our car and on our way by 9.  On previous Summit cruises into Bayonne, we docked earlier.  Don’t know why we docked so late. Good luck getting to your flight.

thank you for the info!  Yes we plan on walking off with our luggage.  Fingers crossed we make the flight

Just off Summit.  Chic was 2nd night and next to last night.  Many people were extremely casual every night.  Saw people in MDR in shorts every night.  There were also people who dressed up on chic night. Seems that you can wear whatever you want.  Have a great cruise.

  3. we received and just booked the same offer for European cruise next November on Discovery Princess.  We paid $130 per person (port charges/tax) and $200/pp deposit which you get back as an OBC.  Plus we each will have $250 in free play.  Also took advantage of the $40/day per person deal which includes wi-fi, beverage package and pre-paid gratuities.  That is definitely a bargain, so I don't have a problem with the $200 deposit they required

  4. We are going on the Royal 10 day Caribbean cruise on Dec 10. It is my 50th birthday cruise and we are taking our 12 yr old as well as 2 of our older children, 22 and 27. We have been cruising with children since they were a very young age. My 12 yr old is not really big on the kids club. She usually ends up meeting kids at the pool and then goes to the kids club the second to last day of the cruise (and regrets not going sooner , lol)! She is content hanging out at the pool , hanging with us, mini golf, bingo, shore excursions, shows, etc. My husband and I have been on Princess before (without the kids) and I must admit, it usually is an older crowd, but I would never hesitate to take my children regardless.

  5. excited to read the rest of your review! We board the Star on Sunday, cant wait! I do have a question if you or anyone else reading this can answer. We are suite passengers, but are traveling with another couple that are NOT staying in a suite, but they are Platinum. My question is, will they be allowed to stay in the waiting area with us, and go aboard at the same time we do? I can understand that they probably will not be allowed to eat lunch in Cagney's, but if they were allowed to at least board with us, that's be great. Anyone have any experience with this kind of situation?

  6. Enjoying your review so far!!!! I will be on the April 5th sailing on the Star. I am hoping staff levels and construction will be where it should be by the time it is my turn to sail. I guess we will find out how it is coming when this weeks passengers arrive on Sunday! Cant wait to hear how things are coming along. For those who were on the March 17th sailing many have said they had lunch at Cagney's. Just wondering if lunch there was standard MDR lunch or something special and if it was worth eating lunch at Cagney's vs. buffet on embarkation day? Any opinions would be appreciated!

we will be onboard for the sailing this Sunday the 29th in a SJ Family suite. Can't wait! In answer to your question, Cagneys is only open for lunch and breakfast for suite passengers. I believe one of the MDR's is open however for lunch on embarkation day if you don't want to brave the lines at the buffet! :)

  7. We plan on snorkeling Kealakekua Bay with Captani Zodiac, but you don't need a car for that one

Did you book this on your own or is there available through the ship also? I am concerned because we bookeed the morning tour with Capt Zodiac, and they said they will be waiting at the port when the ship arrives, however since it is a tender port, I am concerned that I won't be off the ship right away. I emailed then again yesterday and they reassured me, but I am still being paranoid I guess!!
