  1. I am not very good at providing links, but there is a topic on the AZAMARA Board, entitled "Almost Live, First Time AZAMARA to Southeast Asia, written by someone who is sailing on the QUEST from Hong Kong tomorrow.  They really give a good first hand perspective of the situation there.

We are not cancelling our  March 1 Voyager Sailing unless Regent decides not to sail there.

  2. Night zoo was amazing.  Also eat in one of the "Hawker" outdoor venues. Amazing experience.  Enjoyed  "China Town" for shopping especially the wood carved boxes and furniture.  The botanical garden and orchids were really memorable, as well as the cruise tour around the city.

  3. We were a group of 8 and 3 years ago we used Trevor Standefer of American D-Day tours. We were docked in Cherbourg, making the journey to St. Mere Eglese, Pont du Hoc and the Omaha beaches and the American Cemetery. He was so passionate in his narration, you felt as though you were there with the troops when they landed. We ordered a picnic lunch in advance in order to see as much as possible.

I believe the group leader sent him a check as a deposit which he returned to her when we all paid in cash at the end of the tour.

Check him out on trip adviser.

  4. We just returned from a 3 week cruise with stops in India and I can only tell you that we were very glad we listened to the cruise line and and obtained a regular multi-entry visa.

The waits for those with an e-visa were horrendous. We breezed right through every where we went. We got our visas through the cox and kings website and sent them all our documents. We received the our passports back within the week.

They are very helpful on the phone if you have questions.

  5. We did this in Istanbul in order to make a 2:00 AM flight. It was not a problem at all, as some people started to disembark as soon as the ship docked. You will however, have to clear this with your cruiseline.

  6. Two years ago when we docked in Livorno our "very highly recommended guide" never showed up.

Fortunately, there were quite a few private taxis with signs right at the gangplank offering to take you anywhere.

We settled on a very nice driver who took us to Sienna, San Gimignano and Volterra.

While he lacked in English skills, he more than made up in his wonderful driving. We had a wonderful day, covered a lot of distance and even had lunch in a farm "with a friend of his".

So you can make lemonade out of lemons.

    The cost was about $300US

  7. We had a "whirlwind" 8 hours in London a couple of years ago: took a cab from Paddington to the Churchill Museum and War Rooms (2 Hours) then a trip on the London Eye (1 and 1/2 hours, including waiting time). Stopped for lunch at the first pub that looked interesting. Cab back to Paddington and a quick trip to Terminal 5. Business Class does not require a long check-in.
