  1. As many have said, I think it’s the cruisers you are complaining about.

South Florida departures + shorter cruises + school holidays = a certain crowd. Try a different market, different itinerary or longer cruise.

Also you lost me at “eats friend food” & rude people. I have never been on a cruise where there haven’t seen rude people. (Line jumpers, seat hoarders, seat stealers, entitled of all ages)

I hadn't looked at September, until now.   And, yes, Turkey and better Eastern Med itineraries are lacking!   Where were you hoping to visit Turkey?

We are looking at an early pre-season 2024 itinerary on the new Sun that we really like.  But, that goes away once the season starts, and the ports are busy, and the itineraries really start to show that.  There might be some cool weather!  But we love the itinerary.  And less crowds.

Its my Mother-in-laws 60th so we are looking specifically for end of September (Istanbul, Mykonos, Santorini, Ephesus, Athens, Valletta, ... So on.) Don't really like the Island princess, as that is the only option now.

I wish I was more excited by their Med cruise but I’m sticking with the NCL I have booked— Istanbul and portugal is a big draw, as it’s a few of the fewer ports in the area I haven’t been to.

Same. Very boring/ typical. Also lacking options in late September beginning of October which is my favorite time of year.

  4. Celebrity and Princess just released their full schedule this week. Princess' offerings are terrible and Celebrity remains $$$. Its my mother-in-laws 60th birthday and it looks like it will be on HAL. Come on iteneraries!

We did Silhouette TA it in April of this year.   You could look up my Live and get a better feel.

The weather was very nice and the pool was in use and sunbathing popular for most of the cruise.  If we had any rain it was just a shower or two.    We had to divert Madeira for a medical evacuation putting us into the Azores about 6 hours late.

After the Azores it started cooling a little but weather perfect.    Even when we got to Southampton (b2b) we took a B2B tour to Windsor and it was a perfect spring day.   Tulips still in bloom and nice shirt sleeve weather.   No jacket required.

We have done about a dozen TA's most being Westbound.    Weather similar to other Southern and Mid-Atlantic crossing and much much nicer than most of our Northern crossings.

Of course weather is variable but that was our most recent crossing and will do another this year on Apex into Amsterdam.

Thank you very much for all your information. I will take a look at your live. Safe Travels on the Apex! We almost booked the Apex vs. the Silhouette but the price was much cheaper for the latter.

We once did a TA from Florida to Rome in April...weather warm enough on the crossing and ports in Spain but they were still wearing puffy coats in Rome!  The 23 hour days on eastbound trips are why we prefer westbound TAs.

Thank you for your response. Yes, I think I prefer the 25 hour days on the westbound. This trip we are actually using this as transport to Europe + a vacation. While no preferable, we are still excited.

I can’t answer your question because I haven’t yet done a TA. It’s on my bucket list for sure. I’m responding to say that Silhouette is my absolute favorite Celebrity ship. I have cruise envy and wish you the absolute best cruise ever!

Haha. Thank you! We are very excited. We have been on Reflection X2 and Equinox X2 as well as Edge. Excited for the Silhouette.

  8. Hi All,

I am booked on the Celebrity Silhouette leaving on April 20th, 2023. Miami -> London

I have been on a westbound transatlantic in October and the weather was perfect. I am wondering how the weather will be on this cruise? I am expecting the days to and at Bermuda to relatively warm but then after for it to get colder.  Would I be correct? Does the weather really differ that much from year to year? Could it be really warm or really cold?

Any experience and advice will be appreciated.

    Thank you

  9. Just off the Edge 2/23/20, I would say all those things are true. The "noisy" atrium didn't really bother me and I and I didn't think it was noisy. What bothered me about it was lack of space at the bar. How secluded the seating is. Its definitely not the social oval shape martini bar on the solstice class ships that becomes the hub of nightly activity as people pass from dinner to the theater. It's a closed of hole that works well for small groups or couples.

Bar staff is so thin, getting a drink is a struggle. Especially on sea day around the pool. They had two servers walking around the pool and 2 bartenders... thats it. Waiving down a waiter was almost impossible and then your drink would come 40 mins later. We gave up and just went to the bar and waited 20 mins each time. Also there is a severe lack of shade in popular areas. Let me explain before I get roasted. Can you find shade?, yes! However, it's secluded and off in it own space. You can't be in the middle of the action around the pool and find shade. The sunset bar is a sun roast, no shade. Not even for the workers.

Also, if you like to go from your chair, to the pool, to the hot tub back to your chair and repeat, this would involve climbing two levels and descending two levels each time. God forbid you need a drink when you climb up to the hot tub, cause you'll have to go back down and wait 20 mins for a drink.

The Edge is a beautiful ship, her furnishings are beautiful, albeit somewhat beat up for being 14 months old. However, we miss the solstice pool area, the hot tubs on the same level as the pool, shade at the center of the pool, regular balconies, the sunset bar (especially on the Reflection). While some people may not care about these items, these are things we loved the most on the Solstice class ships and they have all been changed ... for the worse.

We were there this past Jan, cruised with Celebrity., we only had 4 signed up with our group, Cause most of the passengers were much older., lol.  We also there in Jan 2015. This last time we actually had a guide that got us on thing quickly especially the zip lines.,  I don't think you will be too back with crowds., it really wasn't both times we were there, but  if your ship gets there early, it will be a breeze.  I remember riding the zip lines the first time, and  when we returned our equipment there was a little bit of line.   The buffet is excellent.  Bring water shoes, it's a must. Bring your towel change of clothes, they have showers and lockers.

    Lots of fun

Do you think it's possible to do go to Xplor on your own? I am familiar with the ferry and am comfortable doing it on my own.

  11. Getting a little more nervous now as they are predicting it will be a hurricane once it arrives in Florida on Saturday or Sunday. Anyone have experience with what happens? Delay? I doubt we'll be rerouted to Western Caribbean since the hurricane will be gone but I think we might have a delayed departure. Looks like we will most likely make it to Florida on Friday afternoon with no problem. Eek
