What proof do you have of this? Quit making things up which simply are not true!

Its not something new that tobacco companies and entertainment companies make secret deals for advertesing smoking on movies and shows.

There are several Hollywood companies accepted this situation and declared that they will stop doing that.

If Royalcaribbean is also a good company, organizing social acts like Make-A-Wish, they should also stop making actions which shows bad habits better. This must be companies social responsibility. Or make the show adult only.

I am assuming by all the grammar mistakes that English is not your first language and perhaps you have never seen the movie Grease?

Yes, its not my first language, but i also believe that i speak it better than most of the USA citizens. I did not know thats a crime making grammar mistakes. I am guilty.

I have seen the movie (when i am not adult), also played in high school theatre.

The real effect of Turkey's smoking laws;

Percentage of people using tobacco products down to %27 from %33 in last 2 years.

People having new lung cancer is down %6 in 2 years.

I am not in anyway a supporter of my goverment, mostly i hate from them, but find some laws better than past.

And, tomorrow is actually WORLD ANTI TOBACCO day organized by WHO

Why don't you have some kids yourself before you go judging whether other people are raising "well-parented kids" or not. There are many themes in GREASE and smoking would not be among the top three that I would bring up as a topic of conversation with my child.

Hey, here i try to explain a serious thing, but its just joke for you.

If i was planning to complain about my cruise, i was able to say that "WOOM (surf+stream) is very slow, pillow covers are terrible (washed and ironed with layers and so hard), balcony door not opening, could not get my drink in theater even i ordered 3 times, food in widjammer is the worst i see ever, etc.", but i did not mention any of these. All these are real.

But i look to positive side and you just try to spoil.

Smoking does not cause breast cancer...now that does not mean you cannot be diagnosed with breast cancer if you are a smoker.....but it does not "cause" it. I see in your last statement you say that you are young. Most of us (at least myself) are old fogies and have children/grandchildren. Just a piece of advice for when/if you ever have children. If you protect them from all of the evils of the world, you will never be able to teach them right from wrong. This goes for smoking, drugs, alcohol, sex, on and on. I think that is all we are trying to say. :)

Sorry, not breast cancer, lung and throat cancer. Which is worst anyway.

I believe i told everything i can. I am going to enjoy the rest of my cruise. Can not spend my time fighting with smoking supporters.

Just be sure that cancer is not a joke and really kills or even worst you live with cancer and every day beg to die.

And you as a parent could just as easily explain that smoking is bad. Changing it to a non smoking version changes the whole show. Why do some parents feel that they should never have to explain things to their kids, you know, actually parent them?

I believe non-smoking version will not change anything on the show. You do not be "rebel" only by smoking.

And if you really believe that smoking is the main topic of this show, this means i am right about complaining. Its not suitable for a cruise ship. What will happen next? Creating a show from a porn movie? (Our children will see it anyway from web, night time tv, etc., so its not problem)

I'm pretty sure that other post was a joke and I'm also pretty sure that most people know smoking is bad.

 

I think most find it a tad ridiculous that you think kids will suddenly become smokers from seeing a play. You better not let them watch tv either because plenty of shows/movies still have people smoking in them.

I am sorry, but its not allowed to show anything related about smoking (even ash tray) in my country TV or cinema.

Its also not allowed to smoke in public places, like school garden, hospital garden, even open area parks.

I understand what you're saying, but that is the way the show is written...showing the "rebel kids" acting out and doing what kid's did, back in the 50's.

 

I truly doubt that seeing this play will cause well-parented kids to take up smoking.

I believe its also our job to protect NOT-well-parented kids. I am a young person, hope i have many more years to live, i want a better world for me and my children (even if i do not have yet).

More to the original point, wasn't it mentioned in another thread that Grease is billed as "adults only" anyway?

This was a morning show and there were many kids inside.

I hope your daughter will not smoke in future and not die from breast cancer and you will not see it. Because popcorn does not kill but smoking KILLS.

Grease is a 40 year old show and it was written by that times decisions. Also until 1950's smoking was adviced by doctors. But today nobody advice it.

Of couse your children will see people smoking, but you do not need to show it by yourself. Which real parent can smoke near their children and show it good, really?

I was trying to explain that RCCL could easily transform the show to a non-smoking version but you move the topic to other way. I just do not see this show ethic on a cruise company where there is no age limit.

I am now on the maiden voyage of Harmony Of The Seas and just seen the show Grease.

I am very much suprised that Royalcaribben sold this show to tobacco companies and created it like a smoking advertisement for teenagers. Several times (i counted more than 6) players are smoking real cigarette on the stage and showing this as a nature of being adult.

Here in Europe, its mostly forbidden to advertise tobacco material. But i see that big tobacco companies found their way of advertesing in Europe by entering to cruise ship shows where all age groups are able to see it. In my opinion, these scenes are easily can be adapted to a non-smoking version, but its very clear that company did not want it, or did not care about it.

So, the managers and workers of RCCL is free to tell their children that its a normal habit to smoke, but i strongly advice everybody to keep their children away of this show if you do not want them to be a smoker in future and live long.

And just another question of this situation, is it allowed to smoke on Royal Theater?

Sorry, but you are not correct. Even the web site you give link says that "2 people is injured", not killed. The bomb exploded in Mecidiyekoy was a noise bomb placed on highway near police station.

I also believe that most European cities are more dangerous than Turkish major cities. Because Turkish goverment is doing everything to catch and fight aganist local and foreign terrosit people. But as seen of the last bruxelles bombing, European countries do not follow and judge their sadistic citizens who goes to Syria for terrorism training, kill several people in every sadistic way and even taking selfie or playing football with their heads. Because these crime is simply not done in Europe, those goverments maybe see these actions like a hunting safari tour of their valued citizens. The people (and also families) will be a vey long term risc for European countries as most of them are sleeping cells.

So, everybody including me has right to be scared about the situation. We can decide to stay home for some years, But please do not try to show Turkey as the center of terrosit attacks.

I agree - they will react to specific threats I would imagine. If each time they have to pull a port costs them money then they won't make a wholesale change to the years itinerary unless they absolutely have to - probably why they are still sailing into and out of Istanbul but not staying overnight (they haven't been overnight there since last August as far as I am aware)

The main reason of cancelling overnight in Istanbul is the construction work going on the port. They were cancalled before the terrosit attacks. The renovation of the port will continue a few more years and there is not a comfortable situation in port because of this.

Its true that there is a high risc of terrorism in Turkey, but please do not forget that non of the cruise lines cancelled their cruises to Paris after several bombings and attacks.

Please do not judge me because i am a Turkish citizen, but i think that Izmir is one of the safest cities in this area. Cancelling a stop to Izmir looks like more psychological than security risc.

I personally feel more afraid while walking around train stations of Rome, Milano or Genova because of drug user homeless people, but never saw any company cancelling their stop on Rome. I have a cruise going to Paris this month, which is a city had several terrorist attacks in last year.

And the main reason companies cancelling their cruises to Istanbul is because of the construction work done in port and not having enough space.

Thanks anyone who tried to help about my sad situation. Actually the prices of suites are too high to get an upgrade.

This also let me see again how rude some people can be. For those who do not believe about the price i am talking about, you can see the picture here. Its from a courtesy hold reservation i made to test if the price i see is real or not. I hope you can understand that that i do not owe lie to anybody. I was just trying to explain my sad situation.

And yes, i purchased this cruise on 8/9 months ago. I was happy with the price level and i am still happy with the price level. I monitored the price every week and saw this promotional offer today. I just feel sad because the price drop %55 from what i paid. I am not talking about few hundred dollars, new price is less than half. And i believe that i should not be punished by making an early reservation and early payment. As a non US/Canada citizen, we are also not allowed for most of the promotions. If Royal Caribben continue to punish non US/Canadian customers, how can they enlarge their market.

About the guest services quality, i spent more than 15 minutes on phone to get my NO answer (waiting the guy to check reservation from system) and it was an international call which cost me high. In past i also tried e-mailing and get first answer after 2 weeks. I am sorry but i can not rate this service as good.

Its long time i was member here but its my first thread. And the reason is to inform how bad Royal Caribbean handle customer relations.

I have a fully paid booking for the 29th May cruise of Harmony. A category D5 for 2.048 USD. The free cancellation date is already passed. When i searched for same cruise today on RCCL web site, i saw D4 category cabins are down to 930USD. Less than half what i paid.

I called Royal caribbean by knowing that i am not able to get my money back, but i was atleast expecting to get some OBC, etc. But the answer i get is NOTHING.

I have beed royal ro RCCL for several years, already have 7 bookings, will reach D+ after 2 cruises, but this situation let me think again about making a change.
