  1. You are correct with regard to cancellation. We are due to sail on the same cruise on Thursday and are considering canceling.  The only problem as far as we are concerned is the option to rebbk only applies up to 1 year .  We would have liked to transfer to the same cruise next year but the Siloette only comes across to Europe in May next year.  Other dates this year are already taken up by other holidays.  This means we will probably have to sail as planned on Thursday but we will be fully masked at all times

I'm booked on the Silhouette from Southampton on Thursday next. I suffer from a little claustrophobia and while I would just about be able to deal with quarantine in  a balcony cabin I could not hack it in  an ocean view with no way to open the window and let fresh air in. I'm going to cancel now.  I booked in November last with my booking including all the Covid guarantees.  However with these guarantees no longer available on the website for new bookings I am unclear of my cover and my travel agent unavailable over the Easter weekend. As I recall I can cancel within 2 days of the cruise without a reason and get full cruise credit. Can anyone please confirm this to me?  Thanks

  3. Today I ordered mine through through website   DAM.  ,At  £19 p.p  will be delivered tomorrow by DPD  and on 2 days prior to cruise I have to do a hometest and send photo by phone and they will send a authorised certificate  in 3 hours.  Seems a strange name for a company but I was given the details by my cruise agent in Derbyshire.

I just heard from my TA that Celebrity will be extending cruise suspensions through July 31 tomorrow (May 20).

Thank you for posting your TA information regarding cancellation of cruises until 31/7,. This enabled me to delay balance payment so now I only have to retrieve deposits from Celebrity

    Many thanks Niddwalker02

  5. At the present time Constellation has started sailing again after being moored offGreece for several days.It appears to hearing out to the middle East direction, could be to take crew members back home. Where it was moored off Greece there was a R CL ship and another Silver sea ship?   Cannot see Constellation doing any European cruises now this year.

  6. Agree with your comments cruise lines have had blinkers on for several years ,expanding fleets as though it would never spoil the world. They have ruined so many cities with so many people  being put intlo places lie Venice on one day ,it is   Many other cities have suffered the same problem. impossible to walk around comfortably.I can never see cruise lines surviving the way they have in the past.

  7. Just wish Celebrity would cancel cruises a little bit earlier. We are due to sail out ofVenice on 20/07/20 and due to make final payment 16/5.  What I see is Celebrity waiting until after this date so maybe they might get cash in rather than give cash refunds and so reporting there bank account. As I see it there is no way they will sail out of Venice in July .Any advice from c.c members welcome.

  8. The trouble is cruise companies have been getting moregreedy every year to meet there shareholders requirements.Every line has kept ordering bigger ships and increasing the number of ships in fleets . This has resulted in ships having queues everywhere on board and absolutely destroying places like Venice Barcelona Santorini and many more.At the same time shipping lines have kept cutting frills in order to fill these bigger ships.

When these big ships are being replaced by even bigger ships they are sold off or passed down to another line under the same ownership.

We are now waiting for Celebrity to cancel our cruise from Venice in July ,and even though we used to love cruising we will not be booking any more trips

With regard to Venice they have seen such a change in the quality of water in the canal we cannot see the city letting cruise ships sail up the canal for much longer. Dolphins have recently been seen well up the canal near the city .

What will happen to all these cruise ships and all the new builds on there way ?

  9. We used to be regulars on P O but changed to Celebrity as PO were beginning to cut so many corners. We have just done our 7thcruise on Celebrity  and I can't believe how you say PO are offering there drinks packages. Our drinks package was with Celebrity and was booked when they were including it as a offer when you booked a outside cabin or higher.  We had some exceptional wines all included in the package and we were served very well at all times,in fact the sommelier seemed pleased to be serving us very often and got round to leaving his recommended wine bottle on the table. Celebrity do not seem to have a limit on drinks packages which also include luxury coffees and unlimited water. It is well worth anyone who likes wine tocarefuuly check the offers as I can make a big difference to people holiday spend.

  10. We love Palma and have done many cruises some of which have started or visited the island. We have just returned from a holiday to Puerto Pollensa on the opposite side of the island.we did a day trip to Palma arriving at 10am and the city was beautiful and quiet. By midday the city had completely changed as it was almost impossible to walk freely due to the huge influx of people. On the day involved there were 7 cruise ships in port carrying in the region of ,25000 passengers, this happening every day and placing a huge financial problem of providing services for these numbers. All hotels have now to charge guests up to 4eoros p.p.per day so cruise ship passengers will have to pay a share either via the cruise price increasing or a tax-paid on leaving the ship. This tax is to meet environmental requirements.

  11. What the captain has to bear in mind is the weather forecast in 12 hours time when passengers are due to return. Two years ago a cruise ship had to leave people behind due to a change in the weather conditions and had to try to find accommodation and then transport all those left behind to the next port of call which is not easy.

  12. October in the Med can be a gamble, this is the time when summer can say it's over.Sometime in October there will be a end of season storm. We have often sailed in October and have tried to get into Portofino on 3 cruises without success due to bad weather,we are trying again this year on Riviera from Barcelona on 17/10/2017. We still like the Med in October as the tourist hot spots are getting slightly quieter.

  13. Have taken my business elsewhere, can not stand anything over 2000 passengers.Problems embarking, finding good ports of call, lack of personal service especially with PO. Celebrity cruises seem to have a much better training school as ever with big ships they still give excellent service. PO should inorganate a smaller line with smaller ships similar to what Celebrity has done withAzamar cruises, this would suit a large number of PO ex customers.

  14. We were in cabins 6000 and 6001 so fairly near to you.We agree with what you said about everywhere even though we did more shopping as we have done similar destinations before. Our favourite of any was Zadar,we liked the Roman ruins mixed in with the modern. There was only one downfall regarding the cruise and this was the bills which have arrived for telephone calls.Every country was cheap for t/c but a 20 minute call from Kotor cost 70US$. Glad you enjoyed your European adventure.

  15. As far as I am concerned and what I know the UK has different ideas.A tip is a voluntary expression of thanks for good advice that has been given. If staff get used to having tip regularly in advance they are bound to look towards still receiving extra tips at the end of the cruise,so doing very well for themselves. This is one of the main differences between USA and UK customers.I myself will continue to go to the desk and have tips taken off the bill.I then will tip via envelopes at the end of the cruise ,I have always ended up giving the recommended amount.

  16. As you are tee total the drinks package won't interest you but one big difference is PO have a kettle in every cabin more making your own cabin.I don't think Celebrity give you any more on board credit in lieu but I still think you will enjoy Celebrity's standards which are very high
