  1. Just received a call from my silverseas personal agent who told me she still has not heard from guest relations on how much our refund will be. The one person who she said could answer that question has been out of the office. She told me the same thing over a week ago. This is really getting frustrating and just one more reason I will never sail on silverseas again. The cruise was bad but I think what has happened after the cruise is worse. There should be no reason for taking over a month to tell us how much we are getting back as a refund.

  2. Observer, I am not sure who you are but I still do not know what the compensation will be. I emailed guest relations a week ago after not hearing from them and received an auto reply saying they would get back to me in the order in which it was received. After 3 days I called the number they gave me in the email and the person said that I had to contact my personal silverseas agent. I called her and she told me that she only knew of the future cruise credit and not a refund. I sent her the emails they sent saying they would now offer a refund. 2 days later I called her and she said she sorry but her supervisor did know anything about the refund either. She called guest relations and was told the guest relations manager was out for a few days and she would get back to me next week when she heard something. If you have some pull with silverseas please use that and get us our refunds. I am tired of dealing with incompetent people and just want to get the bad taste of silverseas out of my mouth. I appreciate that you and other posters here have had" zero, zilch, nada" problems and that your friend had a great experience getting there 50% refund or future cruise credit so quickly but that is not the situation here. I truly do not understand your negative responses other than you cannot except the fact that there may be a problem with your beloved silverseas.

  3. The cruise was book for 12 days with 2 of those days south of the antarctic circle. We did cross the circle but the only way I knew this was on the TV with the ships postion. Somewhat later there came an announcement congratulating us for crossing the circle. No ceremony, no pictures. Several hours later we were told we had to leave to beat a storm coming to the drake passage so we spent several hours there not 2 days. We then headed to the Chilean fjords for what we were told would be zodiac tours and landings. We made into one fjord and that was it. All told we were of the ship a total of 5 hours on a 12 day cruise. This along with the cold buffet for for 5 days, covid on boar and no communication from the captain or doctor who I have been told were also in quarentine, but I can not say this for sure.i would think there would be better communication since we missed over half the cruise and there were covid cases on board. The second day of the cruise the captain said there were 10% of crew in quarintine and more were added including the future cruise director. There was no videoagrapher because also was in quarentine. So as you can see this us a cruise that never should of happened and you can see why people are upset. I am not campaigning for more compensation even though I think there should be.

  4. To observer, yes it clear I do not post often because I normally just read the post, but that does not mean I am just trying to get more compensation from them. I am really upset that they went with this cruise in the first place. It was not just the things that were canceled but just the lack of transparency and communication to the passengers. As I said in my earlier post some people are very loyal to silverseas and doubt anything that some would post that is bad. It got to the point we did not trust anything that was said and then we got back it continued when we tried to contact them. At first it was just a 30% future cruise credit. After some complaining the offered a 30% refund but they will not tell a dollar amount. Yes we had the flights and the hotel room but we had to quarintine in our room and pay for our own dinner which would have been fine if we could have gone out to eat rather than ordering room service. We left the ship at 8:15 and were taken to a hotel in Santiago for our covid test. I believe this is where I became infected. You may say this is not silverseas fault but this company was contracted by them. Them people doing the test did not change their gloves in between test and we were packed into a little room for the test and to get the results. They had no water for anyone until people started to ask for it. This us not the treatment I would expect from a "luxury" cruise line. We been home for a month now and still do not know how much the refund will be or what they are basing it on. You can question our motives but at this point I just want our refund so I can put this whole fiasco behind us.

  5. To answer some of this stuff, I know many of you are very loyal to silverseas and doubt they could do any wrong but this cruise was the cruise from hell. La Dame never opened the grill did not open until day 8 and we had terrible buffet meals for 5 days straight. The crew were over worked and communication was none existent. We did not do the last half of the cruise, no kayaking (crew was quarantined), no polar plunge no entertainment  for the first 8 days(entertainment director quarantined). Ran out of bourbon on day 2 ran out of diet coke, lobster tails not seen after day 2. Number of guest tested positive and never told of this. Found out lady in next cabin tested positive, we had talked on the balconies and she was behind us in line to be tested and we were never told that we were close  contact. I tested positive the day after we left the ship. So yes this was a terrible cruise (our 19th) and silverseas have been very non complaint when ask questions about this.

  6. Used them in 2015 and enjoyed most of the 2 days. We booked the opera with them and were the only ones on our tour that had booked this. They dropped us of on the Neski Prospect at a restaurant and told us not to leave there and some one would meet us in 11/2 hours. We had to find the girl because she never came into the restaurant. We then walked around for and hour and she took us to the opera and dropped us off and told us that someone would meet us after the opera with no description of the person or vehicle. We were very uncomfortable with this arrangement so we found people from the ship and went back to the ship with them. Also we thought it very strange that they would just drop us off since we did not have a visa for Russia. Other than that the tours were great.

  7. We are booked on the Orion in cabin 6000, has anyone stayed in this cabin. It looks like it is under the Explores Lounge so I am not to worried about noise but wondering if the view will be somewhat blocked from the bridge.

  8. We have sailed on her twice, first was full transit Panama Canal which was really a great trip. The second was a British Isle which we took our grandchildren. They were the only kids on board (4 and 5 year olds), there was no day care for them but the crew bent over backwards to do all they could to make this a great trip for them. The whole crew wa was fantastic and the passengers we all pleasant.
