  1. Thanks !

Sounds like regular service just like RCCL' date=' some people make it sound like you never get served.

    Patience People, Patience ![/quote']

Why should someone be patient for trying to use a service they paid for? All requests should be met promptly.

  2. My phone says it can't "parse" the info.

The two most common parsing errors on Android are either:

    1. APK file is corrupted. This one is more likely in your case. Try downloading again.

    2. The version of Android you have flashed doesn't meet the system requirements for the app.

  3. Must be doing something wrong. I have attempted to download it 4 times and each time my phone has popped up a warning that security does not recommend and it will not let me override that. I have an Android LG2

If it isn't coming from the Play Store, allow unknown sources.

  4. Do these free cruise offers come through your VIFP or do you get phone calls. I get calls occasionally saying I've won a free cruise and I just hang up since I don't think anything is really free. Gee maybe I should listen more closely.

VIFP offers, phone calls, email and snail mail. However, any eligibility will display in your VIFP offers, regardless of the method of communication they attempt to use.

  5. why would a PVP tell you that they are replacing yours while yours is still there?

Maybe the new PVP wanted more clients.

They have a quota to meet. There have been reports of this more often in the past here. Most cruisers wouldn't give it a second thought if an employee from Carnival informed the guest of this "change" and would begin to use the new PVP.

  6. can u use your cellphone is the bahamas or mexico or is there an extra charge? I have at &t . what about texting

Technically, there is no additional charge for using your cell phone in he Bahamas or Mexico.

If you wish to use cellular services, that is a different story depending on your plan.

  7. The Liberty has a desk, up on the 5th deck

It was a question as stated with a "?" In the post and was answered by another member.

The Liberty doesn't sail from San Juan yet. My understanding is that it has something to do with credit card sign ups for not having one in San Juan in the past.

As RWolver said, they may or may not have been on the Conquest repositioning cruises. I don't think anyone at CC confirmed if it was or was not available. If someone did, I didn't see the post.

  8. They have one on Fantasy. Pretty sure there was one on Fascination last time I sailed her, too.

When I was on Pride in May, I wanted to purchase one. Turned out the person who manned the desk was not on the ship that week. I asked at the service desk and was told to just go to the computer room, book it online (you have free access to Carnival.com), print out the confirmation, bring it to them, and they'd note that it was booked while on the ship.

When I got home, I sent a copy to my PVP and he made sure the $100 OBC was applied correctly.

It is available on the Fantasy and Fascination because they operate cruises of at least five days. A ship that is deployed to the 3/4 day sailings will not have the loyalty desk. Round trip sailings from San Juan do not have one either. The newly introduced one way transits from San Juan might. (This information is from 2012 - sorry for not being more recent.)

  9. The 100/100 I've been getting WERE casino offers - had nothing to do with my being Platinum. Now the 50/50 on the small 2 day cruises mentioned in an earlier post was a loyalty type offer. As far as I know the vast majority of "free" cruises are from the casino. Even the ones offerred to those who haven't cruised in a few years - my niece got one of those offers, but it was from the Players Club.

I'm Platinum and was never offerred that type of promotional rate. So ... not saying it never happens, but if all those getting the 100/100 OBC look at their offers, I've got a feeling that they will see that it's from the Casino - either the Players Club or a casino host.

Umm... the very first 100/100 offer came from the Diamond/Platinum offer. If you read the post correctly, you would know it stated the word "first." It was originally only offered to Diamonds, but later opened to most Platinum guests when available capacity was still usually high.

Edit: As you can see, it was not from the casino.

  10. We have gotten "casino offers" with onboard credit. But, no where near free.

My spouse got a free offer for October.......pay 100 get 100 OBC. I can assure you this had NOTHING to do with casino play. He does play but not on the scale that I do..........and he doesn't lose on the scale I do. It wasn't a good time and was offered to late for us to take advantage of. Maybe next time, IF there is a next time.

The 100/100 offer was first received from a Platinum/Diamond targeted promotional rate.

  11. From discussions with my PVP, it seems like Carnival doesn't have the future cruise loyalty desks on some ships that do short cruises - example the Sensation which we just got off of. If those ships do short cruises which I would imagine are a lot of new cruisers testing the cruising waters, wouldn't it make sense for them to have a loyalty desk there for those newbies that loved it so much that they could book another cruise and also get OBC bennies out of it?

I'm just bummed because we are going to cruise two times next year and I would have given them a deposit for the spring cruise to get the OBCs for booking on-board. But of course, I couldn't since there was no desk on Sensation.

    Just my 2 cents.

In the past, if you were on a ship that did not have a loyalty desk, you could call Carnival within a week to purchase a future cruise certificate to receive the same benefit that is currently being offered with an onboard booking.

  12. you are correct-- however the majority of them appear to be casino driven.

May I remind you of the continuous waves of free cruises earlier this year and last where it seemed as if every member here received an offer?

Ocean Players Club offering consistent free cruises for casino spend has been introduced very recently. Other cruise lines, such as Norwegian, have been offering free cruises for casino spend much longer than the once rare offer from Carnival. The commonality, I haven't a clue as I haven't sailed with Norwegian. However, reading posts on their boards, it seemed to happen quite frequently when I considered trying their brand.

I remember reading A LOT more posts about the random waves of free cruises than free casino cruises.

  13. The free cruises are based on a combination of spend and time in casino. You need to bet X for Y hours a day to be considered. If you go into the casino and play one hand for $5,000 and never go back they prob won't give you anything. But if you play 3-4 hours a night for $25-50 a hand odds are at the end they'll give you something.

Not all free cruise offers are coming from the casino. Some are from loyalty recognition and others are targeted based on qualifications nobody at Cruise Critic could tell you. Some are completely complimentary requiring only taxes and fees to be paid, whereas others offer a full reimbursement of your cruise fare in the form of onboard credit.

  14. Due to the fact that some got their platinum status by taking 10 short cruises, some people who are buying FTTF have more days sailed (and possibly more money spent)than some who are platinum; therefore, your statement is not always true. Next thing you know, people will be arguing about who earned their status the hard way (75 days) and who got their perks by just having 10 cruises. Some FTTF people may spend more money on board than some platinum people. Some FTTF people might book balconies while some platinum people might book interiors. The fact is there is no way of knowing if a FTTF person has provided Carnival with more profits or if a platinum guest has provided Carnival with more profits. So to say platinum guests have spent thousands more is really just a guess. (Actually I read a study by one cruise line that said newer cruisers spend more money on board then veteran cruisers.) Vacation should be a time to get away from stress. Personally,I am not going to worry about how many days a person has or if someone is getting more or less perks than I am. The best platinum perk , in my opinion, is the room being ready when you board. Platinum cruisers got that perk only because FTTF was instituted.

On another cruise line, there is already the argument and bitterness about qualifying on days sailed versus number of cruises versus taking a travel agent test. It shouldn't matter if someone qualified with a shorter number of cruises. They were well within the terms of the agreement and were not gaming the system. If their account was to become randomly audited, nothing would come of it as no terms were breached. The fact of the matter is simple: they qualified and the cruise line approves of the way they qualified.

  15. Not sure what you mean by that, but carnival makes a great deal of money selling those cards. If I go to a restaurant and buy a soda, the tip will not be that much on the soda, however I do expect a good server to keep it full. If Carnival is not interested in their employees taking care of all guests, then stop selling those cards, add a few dollars to the cruise price to everyone and install some machines. It will not happen because they make a lot of money selling the cards, again, which I am fine with paying for, just do not ignore the people using them!

Exactly. That's the whole point. Why bother adding a gratuity if a bartender or waiter is barely willing to perform the basic duties of his profession? The inclusion of a gratuity did not ensure the needs of your son or his friends were met promptly.

  16. We have been on several cruises with my son, he was 9 on our first cruise and he is now 16. Slow bar service for soda is his only complaint. I stood back and watched a few times as he and a friend or 2 try to get served and the bartender always takes care of the adults getting drinks first. You may not have issues as an adult because they think you want a drink. I don't complain much but this is one of the few things carnival needs to come up with a better way, maybe a "soda only" area.

That 15% included gratuity really went far for your so and his friends.
